I have a V1 and it works better than any other unit Ive ever had. That said, i recently got a ticket as a result of LIDAR and there really is not defense against a properly trained officer and a laser.
I have been strongly considering getting one of these. I essentially never speed, but my car is awful darn loud when I'm on it, so I thought it might be worth it.
i bought one valentine and returned it because, most of the cops use lasers, and every radard is no good for laser, the other things cops do when they drive is turn off their radars and if they spot a speeder they turn it on and then radar beeps and it to late, talking from experice had this happen to me. it not worth to speed.
How did it recognize the speed trap when you already passed it ?
LOL I don't understand what keeps the countries from placing simple cameras every 5-10 miles or so which will take your number plate and time and calculate your average speed ?
Lastly.. I went for many years not wanting to waste my money on a detector. Finally the freeway was marked 25mph. No roadwork.. For no reason the speed went from 65 - 25.
I got busted BIG TIME with that. The NHP officer went "Chuckling" back to his cruiser.
So I broke out my wallet and spent the money. Boy am I glad I did.
The V1 made up its cost in the first 3-6 months.
And still.. I have NOT gotten a ticket while using the V1. NEVER!

@UnrealNate I have a cop in the family. I would know better than you, you have 0 credibility. A cop doesn't need to meet the quota, but in order to get a raise he needs to meet it 10/12 months in order to get an annual raise. Makes sense?
The only place to buy the V1 is directly from them. "valentine1" You will get the best price there..And you will also (for sure) get the latest firmware release. Great CS! No worries with these guys. But ya have to go direct to their company. (you can call them up voice with your CC too)
Last reminder. Since the V1 costs so dam much.. There is a very good chance that somebody might bust your windshield to steal it. I cover mine up with a towel the same color as the dash.
Its an investment, but its guaranteed for life, and includes software updates.

Cobra, Whistler and Rocky Mountain Radar models, you use them 2 or 3 years and they just up and die on you.
Valentines are more money up front but its the last radar detector you will need to buy. Just dont leave it in your windshield when you park in some places and it will still be there when you get back to your car.
@calibin DONT do it! I got a V1 4 weeks ago, and it does NOT pick up cop cars but rarley. It really just picks up Automatic opening doors to stores. you can speed with a V1 and 3 cops will be on the other side of oncoming traffic or even right next to you (like its happend to me) and the V1 wont make a peep. Waste of 470 dollars! Just get a Bell Radar for ALOT cheeper, with same quality.

@danlublock I've seen nowhere on the actual Valentine One site that they say anything about detecting cop cars. Its a radar locator/ detector. Where does, it can detect cop cars too, come in? You are the cop car detector. You have to use your own ability to locate possible threats and ambush spots. Until they pull the trigger on their Laser/Radar gun no radar detector in the world ever could detect it. Believe it or not a Radar Detector needs to have an active Radar source to detect it. lol
@lamboleum that what i am trying to explain to all my friends...its not a POLICE DETECTOR, it is a radar detector, cause here in Puerto Rico sometimes I pass a police car (sometimes its not a transit car so they don't have their radar on their car or the police doesn't have their radar on) and all my friends are like the radar it didn't detect the cop, and I need always to explain it detects bands, KA, K, L, X etc...not police car or the police lol
@sergiovalle21 Exactly some people are put into a false sense of security, cause if a cop doesn't have any seed monitoring devices its not going to show anything. When you get a radar detector you shouldn't drive much more aggresively than if you didn't have one. You have to be smart and have situation awareness even without the detector. Tell your friends its like having your radio tuned to a certain station. If they aren't broadcasting, it will only have static. Its the same with detectors.
@lamboleum yep! u still got to have your senses, know your roads cause the cops can turn on the radar to get you with giving you little or no warning at all. And not all cop cars in the are transit police officers, so if you see a cop dont pick up signal still gotta be careful cause if you do something stupid he can still stop you lol
@sergiovalle21 Oh yeah many of my friends will keep on speeding saying he's not radaring me so he can't prove I was speeding. He can get you on reckless driving at the least for sure. Instant on is just as it sounds.. lol They can get your speed in less than a tenth of a second unless you have passive radar defenses. Most people don't know on that stuff though. Its really hard to pick those up unless you have a V1 too because its to quick and sensitive. I personally like to speed at night anyway
@calibin you got a $250 ticket because you were speeding, getting a v1 will not gaurantee that you will not get another ticket in the future, like the comment above mentions, the moment v1 detects laser the laser detected your speed so you still get pulled over and written a ticket

Not much better than my off the shelf "Whistler". The Valentine One is no better than any "radar detector" in detecting laser (when it goes off it is too late) and if the cops in your jurisdiction use "Stalker" radar you and your "Valentine" are just out of luck.
The Valentine 1 is simply the BEST RADAR detector made today. I feel 100% naked driving without it.
That said.. While driving in the Great State of Arizona.. (Show us Your Papers- Fascist State!) Their "Get you from behind" camera systems do defeat the Valentine. Okay let me clue you in on a few little facts. When I used to operate radar I never let the unit simply send a constant signal, which would give you radar detector types advanced warning of what was coming. I would have my gun in the stand by mode, which does not emit a signal. When I visual estimated your speed I would then pull the trigger. The radar beam travels at the speed of light and before your can brake I have your speed. I was LIDAR now-good luck.
@cubsin4 The V1 will pick up scatter up the road form laser. It will also pick up an officer using POP up the road. Like with any tool, you have to learn how to use the V1, and you also never speed lone wolf style or in town. Some police leave the radar on, some don't. You can certainly still get a speeding ticket with it, but at $400 you get what you pay for. I guess I am a "radar detector type", although most people don't have them, or at least one as good as the V1. Good luck to you too buddy
You got to try it before you talk. The best from my experience specially with ghost cars who sit in the dark., waitng for a target. If you are curb crawler you do not need this. mind you you may need it in a school zone.

kuro, get your facts straight. Yes, it is highly illegal (federal offense) to jam a radar signal. No one suggests doing such a stupid thing. You don't need to. A LASER jammer is different than a RADAR jammer. Jamming lasers is legal in most states. Laser isn't federally regulated, so it is legal unless prohibited by a state. You can't detect laser, so you need a jammer. You can easily detect radar, so there is no reason to have a radar jammer.
NIce, i got a V1 myself, i forget the version but it works. If you're normally speeding it helps but if you're doing over double the speed limit, i doubt even this will save you. Unless you have AWESOME brakes and have no problem face planting into the steering wheel lol
i got pulled over and i own a valentine one... and the things picks up everything and i know this cop didnt use radar and lied on the speed estimating its 45 in a 30... does anyone know if the cop has to prove if i was speeding? its good to know seeing how i have to go to court
You probably have been hit with laser. Laser is 100% detectable but V1 is still the King of all Radar Bands and Laser. He could possibly paced you from behind.
for the next time, just say there is no way you were speeding (unless you have a damaged driving record) and if he paced you, you have to tell the judge that the only way to get a reading like that is if the officer looked at the spedo while catching up to you

I will tell you this your valentine 1 radar detector is useless when it comes to a police officer useing a Lidar speed gun its different then a laser gun . If you ever come across a cop with one you will understand what im saying that valentine 1 will fail to even warn you . By then you will be getting a ticket if your speeding of course. I know california is useing them here and there not every officer has one but your starting to see more and more of them its fucking scary !
Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR). Is the same thing as a Laser gun. Lidar is another name it goes by. Yes you are right. If a police officer hits me with his LIDAR gun there is not anything i can do about it. One of the great things about V1 is it's detection of Laser Scatter. Hitting a car a few up and you picking it up. V1 is very sensitive to Laser. But yes you are right with laser your done! Good thing they don't have it in my area!

Go look at the videos from erickonephoenix and then tell me they don't work. I had a jammer and it did work. I had my friend who is a cop test it and it did work. You CAN use a laser jammer in certain states and they are LEGAL. Get your facts straight.

Well seeing as my dad worked for the FCC, I can tell you that jamming a federally regulated signal will get you 5 years in federal lock up and up to a $50,000 fine.
Thats not true. Although I have a 8500 X50 it does offer defense against LIDAR/LASER detector. So many times I've found myself accelerating only to have my LASER detector go off which prevented me from accelerating further. The LASER/LIDAR detector of my 8500 has already paid for the entire thing.

@princessLisy You are correct that is useless against LIDAR, but incorrect by saying it's different than "laser". I'm an officer in Illinois and we use LIDAR along with K-band radar. LIDAR is much different than radar in that we literally have to aim at one vehicle (target) like a "gun" and pull a trigger to get a reading. If I line your car up and I don't pull the trigger, your detector wont warn you. It will only activate when I target you and pull the trigger for a reading.And by then...
police have access to go into your account and find who u r and where you live if they really wanted too.. and i didn't say it would happen all the time.

I'm a cop, I turn my radar's HOLD feature on if I'm not using it, makes all radar detectors useless, unless I pop someone with my radar and you happen to be down the road, then you'll know I'm there... And yes if you get stopped and you have one you are going to hold some paper.
Yes instant-on is deadly for radar detectors. Use a Rabbit for this reason. Follow a Rabbit about a half mile back. All it takes is for you to pull the trigger once on the Hwy and I know you are there. With my new location of the Rd you would not know it was there if you pulled me over. V1 is not the average Cobra. I will know you are there if I'm not the first car targeted 95% of the time. It is just a cat and mouse game!! See ya on the road georgetime. The V1 is a RADAR detector not a cop detector. Yes the radar has to be on for the V1 to pick it up. When he radar is on it projects a signal that the V1 can pick up. Kinda like a car radio picks up the radio station in your car. If the radio station is not broadcasting you will not receive a signal.
Nice video, I'm considering getting one of these. How often does it fail? Any problems with it? I want to get one, but I want it to work well since it's pretty expensive

This is a Radar locator, NOT A COP DETECTOR.
It detects Radar signals, and detects Laser speed guns.
As for radar its an advanced warning, good use here.
As for laser the instant its detected your speed is already detected.
UNLESS your perfectly lined up with someone getting "lazed" ahead of you.
But laser doesnt scatter like radar does.

Not much better than my off the shelf "Whistler". The Valentine One is no better than any "radar detector" in detecting laser (when it goes off it is too late) and if the cops in your jurisdiction use "Stalker" radar you and your "Valentine" are just out of luck.

The Valentine 1 is simply the BEST RADAR detector made today. I feel 100% naked driving without it.
That said.. While driving in the Great State of Arizona.. (Show us Your Papers- Fascist State!) Their "Get you from behind" camera systems do defeat the Valentine. Which is like shooting ALL your enemies in the back of the head with a Machine. Because you are to chicken X&it to be a real Traffic Enforcement Officer. Ummmm Unless YOU have USED a VALENTINE ONE.. you have ZERO point of reference.
The V1 is quite unique because it COUNTS the number of radar signals and has a FRONT and REAR detector. (2 radar detectors in one unit)
When USED properly.. (Like I do) I have never gotten a ticket since buying the V1!
Chicken Crap PHOTO RADAR does not count.

Okay let me clue you in on a few little facts. When I used to operate radar I never let the unit simply send a constant signal, which would give you radar detector types advanced warning of what was coming. I would have my gun in the stand by mode, which does not emit a signal. When I visual estimated your speed I would then pull the trigger. The radar beam travels at the speed of light and before your can brake I have your speed. I was LIDAR now-good luck.

@cubsin4 The V1 will pick up scatter up the road form laser. It will also pick up an officer using POP up the road. Like with any tool, you have to learn how to use the V1, and you also never speed lone wolf style or in town. Some police leave the radar on, some don't. You can certainly still get a speeding ticket with it, but at $400 you get what you pay for. I guess I am a "radar detector type", although most people don't have them, or at least one as good as the V1. Good luck to you too buddy

kuro, get your facts straight. Yes, it is highly illegal (federal offense) to jam a radar signal. No one suggests doing such a stupid thing. You don't need to. A LASER jammer is different than a RADAR jammer. Jamming lasers is legal in most states. Laser isn't federally regulated, so it is legal unless prohibited by a state. You can't detect laser, so you need a jammer. You can easily detect radar, so there is no reason to have a radar jammer.

NIce, i got a V1 myself, i forget the version but it works. If you're normally speeding it helps but if you're doing over double the speed limit, i doubt even this will save you. Unless you have AWESOME brakes and have no problem face planting into the steering wheel lol

i got pulled over and i own a valentine one... and the things picks up everything and i know this cop didnt use radar and lied on the speed estimating its 45 in a 30... does anyone know if the cop has to prove if i was speeding? its good to know seeing how i have to go to court

for the next time, just say there is no way you were speeding (unless you have a damaged driving record) and if he paced you, you have to tell the judge that the only way to get a reading like that is if the officer looked at the spedo while catching up to you

u have watch ur mirrors if u speed if not out run them then brake cause if they can get a speed on u ur screwed
but its awesome cause if ur speeding straight yeah it will detect and u have time to stop but its just the back they dont use lasers when they follow u they just catch up

I will tell you this your valentine 1 radar detector is useless when it comes to a police officer useing a Lidar speed gun its different then a laser gun . If you ever come across a cop with one you will understand what im saying that valentine 1 will fail to even warn you . By then you will be getting a ticket if your speeding of course. I know california is useing them here and there not every officer has one but your starting to see more and more of them its fucking scary !

Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR). Is the same thing as a Laser gun. Lidar is another name it goes by. Yes you are right. If a police officer hits me with his LIDAR gun there is not anything i can do about it. One of the great things about V1 is it's detection of Laser Scatter. Hitting a car a few up and you picking it up. V1 is very sensitive to Laser. But yes you are right with laser your done! Good thing they don't have it in my area!

1) The Jammers you can buy do not work.
2) A jammer that really works would require you to have lots of equipment in your car and a HUGE directional antenna mounted on top of your car.
3) Jamming any FCC regulated frequency is a FELONY.

Well seeing as my dad worked for the FCC, I can tell you that jamming a federally regulated signal will get you 5 years in federal lock up and up to a $50,000 fine.

Thats not true. Although I have a 8500 X50 it does offer defense against LIDAR/LASER detector. So many times I've found myself accelerating only to have my LASER detector go off which prevented me from accelerating further. The LASER/LIDAR detector of my 8500 has already paid for the entire thing.

@princessLisy You are correct that is useless against LIDAR, but incorrect by saying it's different than "laser". I'm an officer in Illinois and we use LIDAR along with K-band radar. LIDAR is much different than radar in that we literally have to aim at one vehicle (target) like a "gun" and pull a trigger to get a reading. If I line your car up and I don't pull the trigger, your detector wont warn you. It will only activate when I target you and pull the trigger for a reading.And by then...

I'm a cop, I turn my radar's HOLD feature on if I'm not using it, makes all radar detectors useless, unless I pop someone with my radar and you happen to be down the road, then you'll know I'm there... And yes if you get stopped and you have one you are going to hold some paper.

Yes instant-on is deadly for radar detectors. Use a Rabbit for this reason. Follow a Rabbit about a half mile back. All it takes is for you to pull the trigger once on the Hwy and I know you are there. With my new location of the Rd you would not know it was there if you pulled me over. V1 is not the average Cobra. I will know you are there if I'm not the first car targeted 95% of the time. It is just a cat and mouse game!! See ya on the road georgetime. Hey midnight302, yeah i got the same V1, but how come sometime i see a cop car passing me and the V1 wont alert anything. I mean does the Radar in the police car has to be on for us to detect by V1 or it can be off and stil the V1 can ?

The V1 is a RADAR detector not a cop detector. Yes the radar has to be on for the V1 to pick it up. When he radar is on it projects a signal that the V1 can pick up. Kinda like a car radio picks up the radio station in your car. If the radio station is not broadcasting you will not receive a signal.
