@lllslinklll I fully understand what sampling is, it is taking a part of someone's creativity and using it to put your lyrics over it. I do not care how much you loop it and rearrange it, it was never your creativity in the first place. I have no problems with people taking an original song and putting their own creativity to it like this video Many jazz artists do standards, they give their own solo's in the song but, you still know who createdthe original and they arent toting it as theirown.
@lllslinklll You cannot do that without quoting a reference. When you are writing a paper you are using a reference as an example, you cannot copy a whole paper or you will get expelled from school. Sampling is a joke, it takes no talent at all.
@lllslinklll Ha I can't believe there's another person in the world that caught the "Dufresne party of four" reference. So infinitely fresh to those that get the connection.
I'm not into today's rap, but this is a pretty cool cover of a rock song I already liked. This song certainly seems hard enough to cover in its original form, let alone a hip hop version. I feel he did it justice.

If rap was more like this it would be more respcted by musicians. Great job
@BBEEAANN1 are u insane? What "Musicians" don't respect hip hop? NIN, Marilyn Manson, RadioHead, Prince, Guns n' Roses, Rage Against the Machine, B.B. King Jack White, all respect & appreciate hip hop. I'm hoping your musical pallet expands quickly to understand how vast and important hip hop is as a genre of Music. and By the way he isn't rapping at all, he's singing. So if more "rap" sounded like this it wouldn't be be rap.
@moshpitmauler hip hop that samples other peoples music is plagerism, end of story. Throwing new lyrics on someone elses hooks in not creative at all, any moron can do that. If you create your own music and then rap over it you have talent. The roots, Dr Dre, dela soul, etc are talented rappers who very rarely sample anythng and make their own music to rap over. Rap that is sampled has killed creativity in music since it has come into being. .
@BBEEAANN1 False. DJ Shadow's debut album Endtroducing was entirely compiled with sampled sounds. If you've heard it, you'd no it is far from creatively bankrupt.
@insertclevername14 your opinion, end of story. If you need somoeone elses music to write lyrics over you are a hack, a no talent hack. Anyone can rewrite lyrics over someone else's music composition. That is like repainting the Sistine chapel with different colors and calling it your own. Get over it, most rap is people steeling music because they cant make up their own. This guy actually takes a song and makes it his own which, shows he has talent.
@BBEEAANN1 You have a good point but what I'm trying to say is that music CAN be sampled creatively. There are hip hop producers that isolate single sounds on records and then rearrange them until they are no longer recognizable. To say all sampling is plagiarism is like saying that playing on a keyboard is plagiarism because your using the same notes as everyone else. Face it, if you pick up an instrument there is very little you can possibly do that hasn't already been done by someone else.
@BBEEAANN1 Lol Unfortunately I couldn't go to Berkely music conservatory I was forced to go to this small Lil' performing arts conservatory called Juilliard. Sorry!!!! Ur a musical historian of brilliant proportions.
@moshpitmauler if you actually go to julliard then you know the jazz musicians really get down on hip hop and do not fancy it at all. Most classical players feel the same way. I goto UMASS for music as well. How did musicology become part of what school you go to? Irregardless of what you think my opinion is solid. Ask some of your older professors at school and see what they feel about hip hop.
@BBEEAANN1 Irregardless isn't a word, and actually is one of the simplist ones to not mess up. Think about it. Regardless means with no regard. "Ir" is a common prefix that means without the following word. So Irregardless would be without no regard, or actually with regard. It is obviously incorrect in the context, so no, your opinion is not "solid" and actually, that's the least of the problems with your "solid" opinion, and it is very much an opinion.
@Chandlsd I suggest you talk to Usef Lateef and ask him his opinon of Rap. I am sure he will tell you something you dont want to hear. I would also like you to look at most jazz musicians opinion of Miles Davis's attempt at rap. When it comes to people who actually. most agree it is a joke when it comes to creativity. As far as irregardless goes, even though not all dictionaries like the term, the terminology is still a valid use in modern vernacular.
@Chandlsd actually the problem with irregardless is the prefix of ir and the suffix of less which makes it a double negative. This really doesnt bother me because it was first used in 1912 in Wentworth American Dialect Dictionary. Uppity white people dont like the term, oh well cry me a river. Irregardless of the uppity white peeps, I be using the term
@BBEEAANN1 DR Dre made a LIVING sampling Parliament/P-funk. Are you serious? Bad example. He has ghost producers and doesn't write his own lyrics. Go listen to Beastie Boys-Pauls Boutique and see if the sampling isn't creative. De La doesn't sample because they're RAPPERS, Prince Paul was/is their DJ/Producer. Don't speak on what you don't know.
@else3573 DRE is a mixture of sampling and making his own beats. I have listened to Paul's Boutique/ The BB have mad their wealth raping the Beatles, Led Zeppln and others for their creativity. De La Soul has tallent, they dont need to steal others creativity in order to created music, just like the Roots.
@moshpitmauler are you serious, are you saying Marilyn MAnson is talented? lmao. I remember my friend seeing him in N.Hampton Mass. The only reason he went to see him is because he jammed lolipops up his colon. RATM plays their own music, Most musicians who actually play their own instrument dont consider RAP anything but something thatis killing music. Over the last 20 years you can see the decline in music. Real music doesnt even get played on the radio and most of it is clonedgarbage
@moshpitmauler continued.. People could not sing and this is why RAP was started. That in itself is a statement in itself. The rappers I can respect are people who can create their own music and actually sing. If you wish to claim Hip Hop is important, you do that but, as for me, most of it is nothing but plageristic garbage. What this guy does with a song is far superior to most of the hip hop or rap I have seen.
@BBEEAANN1 so is rock music plagiarized Blues? I find it interesting that out off all the musicians I named, u picked 1 and chose to comment not on the music, nor none of there recognition of Hiphop as a contributing musical genre. Your arguement is convoluted at best and completely innacurate at worst. Good music isn't played on the radio the same way good food isn't sold at McDonalds. Mass consumption. Hip hop didn't start cuz people couldn't sing it started cuz people didn't want to.
@moshpitmauler if you cant see how rock music has moved past blues you are blind. 1 4 5 with no minor is pretty simple and I dont think you see PJ playing that much at all. I suggest you talk to professors in Berkley and other high end music schools. Hip Hop is a joke as a musical form because you are robbing someone of their creativity putting lyrics over it for the most part. You are also blind if you think it started because they wanted to. It started because people were to poor to get ...
@moshpitmauler because they could not afford instruments. It is also was started because people could not sing. 90% of all wrappers are awful talkers, forget about singing. Those that can sing and have the ability to create music have talent. Those that steal and rip off actual artists are just money grubbing plagerists. Gilespie, Monk, and Ellngton are rolling in their graves hearing this as an artform.
Anyone who actually knows about P.O.S., knows that he used to be in rock bands before the whole hip hop thing. He always rapped, but started doing it instead of playing in bands because he couldn't rely on other band mates.
I grew up with grunge music I love it so much. On the opposite side of the coin I cannot stand Rap music everything about it disgusts me, and yet this dude has managed to remake an already epic song into something that in my opinion sounds better than the original. Flame away, i know somebody will.
@lllslinklll Yeah, I realized that as soon as I responded, It was the first comment I seen though, and it agrivated me. I do feel like a bit of a Jackass though haha.
Dude, I grew up with pearl jam in the 90's. All I can say is that my mouth was open the whole time I watched this. VERY VERY GOOD! Only complaint and it's not even about your talent. I would have done a straight feed for the audio, that's just a technical thing. Dude you have do rerecord it in protools or somthing. You must, you should press it from us to download. can you do anything with go, from the Vs. album?

Don't speak on what you don't know.
else3573 1 year ago

BBEEAANN1 1 year ago
@moshpitmauler continued.. People could not sing and this is why RAP was started. That in itself is a statement in itself. The rappers I can respect are people who can create their own music and actually sing. If you wish to claim Hip Hop is important, you do that but, as for me, most of it is nothing but plageristic garbage. What this guy does with a song is far superior to most of the hip hop or rap I have seen.
BBEEAANN1 1 year ago
@BBEEAANN1 so is rock music plagiarized Blues? I find it interesting that out off all the musicians I named, u picked 1 and chose to comment not on the music, nor none of there recognition of Hiphop as a contributing musical genre. Your arguement is convoluted at best and completely innacurate at worst. Good music isn't played on the radio the same way good food isn't sold at McDonalds. Mass consumption. Hip hop didn't start cuz people couldn't sing it started cuz people didn't want to.
moshpitmauler 1 year ago
@moshpitmauler if you cant see how rock music has moved past blues you are blind. 1 4 5 with no minor is pretty simple and I dont think you see PJ playing that much at all. I suggest you talk to professors in Berkley and other high end music schools. Hip Hop is a joke as a musical form because you are robbing someone of their creativity putting lyrics over it for the most part. You are also blind if you think it started because they wanted to. It started because people were to poor to get ...
BBEEAANN1 1 year ago

Huge Pearl Jam fan, skeptical before watching, but AWESOME!

I grew up with grunge music I love it so much. On the opposite side of the coin I cannot stand Rap music everything about it disgusts me, and yet this dude has managed to remake an already epic song into something that in my opinion sounds better than the original. Flame away, i know somebody will.

You must, you should press it from us to download. can you do anything with go, from the Vs. album?
