lol dammit I wish we still had an arcade culture like that here.. All the arcades here closed down cause the machines tended to get vandalised every other week.
Here in Holland? Shopping malls, yeah but not like in the US, they're just for shopping ;) There's a big place outside the city where you can go karting and they have a small arcade attached to it but.. it's not really the same, it's pretty rundown and neglected.
One of these days though, I'm going to be rich enough to get me a big house and build my own in one of the rooms ;) Hey house prices the way they're going it may really happen xD
I'm from the UK and our shopping centre used to have a namco wonderpark, it was so cool, they had all the up to the date releases and quite a few japanese imports and even test games that had a machine never before seen to see how well it did. but then the shopping centre force them to close down so they could put three restraunts in its place. the arcade orffered to pay more money but still told to pack up. that was last year and its still boarded up with nothing there :(
yeah, but they don't make money from namco only the rent namco pays and by opening 3 restaurants they can charge triple rent. worst part is most people think it shut down because it was loosing money and that it wasn't good anymore. those restaurants aren't cheap either what they have to offer so I think it was pointless as if people have the money particuarly with the resession still going on to afford their prices. I still miss namco so much though :-'(
I bought a used generic JAMMA arcade cabinet from Japan about 6 years ago. Great shape, from the fighting game era. I love it to death, because it is one you can actually pull a chair up to and sit. I mean, the playboard is maybe 3-1/2 feet from the ground. I thought at first, I would never be able to play it, it was so loooow to ground. But I came to love it with a cushioned office chair. JAMMA = compatibile standard, so tons of games to throw in it, if anyone doesn't understand that part.
Video quality is almost perfect! I want that camera
