LOL.. I laugh at the ignorance of who criticizes this performance, definitely doesn't know anything of this art. let me help you. first watch Nadia Gamal, Tahia Carioca, Nadia Hamdi, Nagua Fuad, Fifi Abdo, Raquia Hassan, Randa Kamal. learn about the history of the dance and costuming. for each decade and style and for each cultural, clasics and folklore styles. Then take lessons with Cassandra, Tamalyn Dallal, Morocco, Hossam Ramzy, Suhaila, Jihan Jamal, Virginia, Bozenka. just to name a few!
I took your workshop in Cambridge, Mass. about 22 years ago and bought your wonderful video with that looooong drum solo in the green baladi dress. Well I loaned it and never got it back......The dancers of today need to see you; you must come back to Cambridge!!
I've been to Oasis and seen Cassandra dance up close and been in workshops with her. Her technique and interpretation are flawless. There is so much you can't see on a low-quality video like this. And beyond all that, she has an amazing presence - you are captivated the moment she starts to dance, whether in a performance or leading a class. Gorgeous performance.
I find it hard to believe that anyone can be critical of someone as respected and well-educated in this dance form as Cassandra. Believe it or not, all dance moves don't have to be huge, especially in a soft, slow, and sensual piece like this. There is a time and a place for hunky-chunky, and this isn't it. Cassandra is an amazing, capable, and expressive performer. Her muscle control and isolations are incomparable. Check out her other videos; you'll see what I'm talking about.
The absolute nerve of you to offer your 'critics' as if you know more than those who teach, travel, peform and basically live, breathe and 'are' this dance.
These are perfect Egyptian style hip movements. Please learn what this dance is first. It's obvious you have no inkling at all about the different styles, techniques, nuances or even the most basic terms.
Most of all, you dont' know who your fellow 'dancers' are---treat the legends of dance with a little respect please! .
Sigh. Amazing. The only thing better than watching Cassandra dance is... oh, wait! There's nothing better than watching Cassandra dance! She's the best, both as a performer and teacher. If you've never seen her dance in person, you owe it to yourself.

She is "la creme de la creme." I am happy to see her in this costume; years ago, I am sorry to say, her costuming was not good. Bravo, Cassandra!

I saw her most recent performance in Boston. About 1/3 of the audience was in tears during her taksim.

she has put on a whole dress, just the middle
is transparent:)
Her arms are lovely, and the whole
taxim-thing she does is like a trans-dance:)
BUT hip 8s are too small, drops also a bit, because hip is not enough isolated.

She's an excellent dancer and your observation is wrong. Her hipwork is what she's famous for.
Go critique Shakira.
