What i think is -- there are many reasons differing from person to person depending upon his or her exposure to the language. But you are right when you say that we learn any of the second language in an unnatural way which is quite reverse to how we learn our mother tongue. That makes us uncomfortable with the language unless we dont practice it a lot upto the level where actually we start thinking in the language instead of translating.
Its really a good question to think upon.
