@minimeez1000 no they don't tend to run off, they usually stay pretty close. No I have never shot a dog, you have to be very careful and make sure you SEE your target and not guess or shoot in the weeds. Great questions though!!!

When i was a kid i never got to ge tthe experience of having a parent teach me because my dad wasnt into hunting, but my friend and his father both taught me everything i know about hunting and it makes me so happy to see a father teaching his kids one of the best sports out there. Definitely the shotgun... With low shot and low gauge, like a 410, 16 or 20 ga would be good and no higher than 4 or 6 shot...

Teaching a child to hunt is no more wrong than taking them to the grocery store & telling them to go get a ham or roast from the meat counter.For one thing,the kid learns that meat doesn't come wrapped neatly in plastic with a "Sell by" date on it.

yea i use a .22 when it comes rabbits and i use a scope and just pop there little heads off. doesnt shred up the meat like a shotgun might

6 feet is very close for a 3" 410. Try 20 yards and ya wont splits them in half. The wad must have hit him.

Well, I do appreciate your the mention of my hunting with kids, however, not to many legit hunters will degrade another mans dogs. Especially when you provide no video of your LION STOCKING DOGS, it is always easier to brag on yourself with no proof isn't it.
