I think the guitar is a gibson es150 that has been modified with an added cutaway. The clues are the CC pickup, dot inlay, the old gibson logo which is clearly visible and -if you look closely- you can see that the jack socket is in the tailpiece, a feature of the original gibson es150. Mind you he can make anything sound good........
Diz52nd: of course you are right. I see the plain dot markers and the binding, as well as the shape of the headstock. Definitely not Gibson. Someone must know.
@Ana1yst: My imprecise memory of a conversation years ago with a guitar expert is:
Epiphone (Gibson subsidiary) through one of it's German subcontractors sold self build guitar kits which were all authentic spare parts. No brand name could be used on the finished products. This is an attempt to recall a fascinating conversation, not to write guitar history. I understand the subcontractor was closing it's business down. German Luthiers may have more information about this.
@Ana1yst: It is a guitar of that type, but if you look close, it isn't a Gibson. Of course, it must be a high quality instrument or Louis Stewart wouldn't have used it. But it's probably cheaper than a Charlie Christian 175 just because it doesn't have the expensive Gibson name tag; so it's interesting. Thank you for your response.
MOGLIDER, You made my day Man, I was at this concert in the "Cork Opera House" and especially on this tune I thought Louie was on fire. Thanks for posting, it sounds as good today as it did when I was sitting listening to it almost 30 years ago.
Louis is cool!
Though it is long solo, I am fun.

Luthier John Moriarty sets up Louis' Guitars. He has worked to Louis' requirements making compensated bridges for improved tuning. Google Archtop.ie

Why could we not hear all of Jim's solo.
The chance to hear his display of excellence is ruined by being cut off just as he begins to play.
As he is on apar with all the other musicians he deserves an equal hearing.

Thanks Moglider, for posting this fantastic video.
I'm a huge Louis Stewart fan, but I also love when he plays with Jim Doherty Ronan and John , - all greats in their own right.
