  • I'm from the movie "Moneyball"

    LOL

  • Nice video man.

  • those r some nasty ass 2 seamers O_O

  • Awesome @ 1:10

  • 0:22 is similar to Alfredo Aceves, similar.

  • @tng150 not even close to being similar.

  • @rambo7276 you see the way he brings his arm behind his back, the way he starts off his motion. You obviously haven't seen Aldredo Aceves.

  • @tng150 are you talking about the alfredo aceves who was on the yankees and then red sox? maybe you are talking about a different aceves. the pitching styles between alfredo aceves and the guy at 22 secs is not even close to being similar. the guy at 22 secs is clearly throwing side lower 3/4. aceves comes over the top from the side.

  • @tng150 also aceves starts his windup by bringing his hands over his head ala clemens and maddux.

  • @tng150 just looked at aceves windup. he changed from the yankees to the red sox. his red sox motion is still not similar. honestly, i dont see any resemblence at all.

  • @rambo7276 he was traded? yea look at the way he brings the ball behind his back few pitchers do that.

  • @tng150 im pretty sure your trolling me right now. one look at aceves highlight vid on youtube shows that his motion is no where close to the pitcher at 22 sec mark.

  • @rambo7276 how am I trolling you. You provide no point for what your'e saying. In America, we say traded not changed.

  • @tng150 you obviously are trolling now but i'll keep going. when i said "changed," i meant his windup changed from the yankees to the red sox.

  • would you look at that... there all japanese.

  • I'm 12, and my overhand mechanics haven't been with me lately (1/3 IP, 5BB, 1HB, 1K), and I want to develop into submarine. But my dad says I shouldn't. What should I do!

  • Is it all chinese?

  • I noticed faster and more accurate pitches when I switched from overarm to sidearm. But the sidearm method wrecked havoc on my shoulder and elbow. I don't even want to try submarine.

  • @ajre82 submarine is actually the most natural arm angle. baseball was pretty much played underhand by pitchers up until the time cy young retired.

  • cant sidearm mess up your arm?

  • HOW ABOUT SUBMARINE KNUCKLEBALLERS?!!!

  • hahahah he's basically touchin the ground at 00:45 hahahaah

  • why do all japanese or chinese pitchers have funky, crappy deliveries??? they all look so un-natural.

  • there were only to submarine pitchers WTF?

  • @brooklinewarrior123 ...What?

  • Some of those pitches made the Japanese strike zone look awful big. I'm sure a lot of em would be called balls here in the States.

  • @PointeHollow the strike zone in japan is larger as apparent in the video. they call it this way all the way down to high school.

  • thedvabel these guys have noting on the greatest submarine pitcher ever in the world from in Kansas City who played for the

Royals and is the other 5 Relief pitcher of the year award winner besides Marianno riveria The man is Dan Quisenberry

  • side arm and sub pitching rocks; but sidearm shud only be used in the infield.

  • Which are the twins. Minnesota twins.

  • I have a pretty good sidearm pitch :) I'm going to open tryouts for my states team next year.

  • I pitch a combination of side-arm/submarine, and I find it puts minimal stress on your arm, although many people say otherwise. Although, with submarine pitchers, you need to watch for back problems, from all the bending.

  • my friend pitches like that

  • :46. that guy #31, DAMN it looks like he scraped his knuckles on the dirt.

  • HOLY SH*T @00:44

  • uhh 1:20 not a strike

  • @jmaioran Outside corner; some umps might call it, not all though.

  • pause at 00:44 the dude's nearly touching the ground!

  • BOC

  • im a side arm pitcher myself, trying to master the submarine

  • holy crap 00:44 was the best

  • sidearm is beast

  • Was that Fukudome!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! (JK)

  • @rtepoo ...................

  • damn chinese

  • I'm ignorant when it comes to baseball so, can someone explain to me why nobody mentions the pitch at 00:18? That looked ridiculously impressive to me!

  • 0:44 how the fuck does he do that??

  • im a submariner but I only throw a 4 seem, 2 seem and curve

  • im a submarine pitcher its something I started as a joke and it worked out

  • @KJT922010T what level you pitch?

  • @rambo7276 I don't play right now but im in highschool going into college I hope to make it onto my citys college team

  • Why does the distance between the mound and home base look 10 feel away!?

  • Vietnamese pitcher^^

  • i'm a sidearm pitcher!!!AWESOME

  • The varsity coach is going to show me how to throw submarine next week! Looks Badass.

  • If I were a Japanese pitcher I would yell HYDUKEN! during every pitch.

  • i throw over the top, side arm, and submarine lol i change it up

  • @byemaxii lulz ur da kewlest

  • @rambo7276 actually we changed it again lol i just throw sidearm :p

  • @byemaxii dam ma nigga u be straight balllllin ya heard?

  • @rambo7276 nigga cuz i got ice in my veins and blood in my eyes

  • @byemaxii dayummm son..... put on fo ya city repz that shit son yeah yeah yeah.

  • @rambo7276 yeah nigga.. and i shit on myself because im so sick and tired of shittin on everybody else

  • @byemaxii shit niggga idk wat da fuk to think rite now, ur swaggg mad crazeeee, rep dat city fo life southside!!

  • @rambo7276 hell yeah nigga southeast side lol

  • balk at 0:28

  • @kWkPkUSA1 sorry 0:26

  • wow 44 seconds was sick thats true submarine

  • sidearm puts more stress on the shoulder and elbow than 3/4's or completely overhand. and submarine is even worse when it comes to adding stress to your joints. also, you can get higher velocities with your pitches when throwing 3/4's or overhand. why do you think pitchers like Dice-K and Ching-ming wang dominated in japan... b/c they threw 3/4's.

  • @coletrain9 why do you think pitchers like Randy Johnson is dominated in US... b/c he threw sidearm... :p

  • @snowmen10 Randy Johnson's sleeve length is 38", which means his arm is about three feet behind a left handed hitters back at release point. I throw at high side arm, just below 3/4 and have a lot more movement on pitches since I have dropped the arm angle.

  • @coletrain9 sidearm puts no more stress on the shoulder of elbow if you keep your weight back and the body comes forward as a whole. If the body comes forward first(rushing), a sidearmer will tend to throw across the body which is the worst thing you can do to your arm. Just ask Don Gullett, ruined his career. That's why he threw 50% forkballs the last couple of seasons he pitched, the gas was gone.

  • @coletrain9 No no no...You use less of your rotator cuff at that angle. The velocity is the same when it leaves your hand; it's true you lose speed when it hits the glove considering more gravity pulling on it. About the shoulder? I'm skeptical of that. Proud to be a lefty sidearm.

  • @coletrain9 You use less of your rotator cuff at that angle and I'm skeptical about the elbow and shoulder. It's just as harmful as 3/4s, overhand, and submarine.

  • 150kmph=93mph

    140kmph=87mph

    130kmph=81mph

    120kmph=75mph

    110kmph=68mph

    100kmph=62mph

  • im actually a sumbmarine pitcher

  • these pitchers are fun to watch! i'd love to see a japanese game someday.

  • @ : 0.8 was that sid fernandez?????

  • I think i know hideki matsuzaka

  • that first guy is ridiculous

  • GUYS! komiyama shakeball tutorial (rare) on my channel! my video has more information about the pitch then any other video on the WEB!!

  • whoa!! 1:22 REALLY?? COME ON!!! lol

  • 0:16 made me gag

  • i throw like that. but more like at a 290 degree angle. RHP

  • omfg :12 looks like a balk, but that would so fool a batter if he changed his step time haha!

  • i pitch sidearm and i get a lot more strikeouts than overhand pitchers and i throw more on target

  • holy heat at 0:16

  • Japanese people have much more stylish pitches, I'll give them that.

  • if i was a pitcher i would pitch side arm. not bc its cool but bc i cant throw like that

  • I am a really good side arm pitcher, but I can only pitch for 5-6 innings in my league before I have to take a seat and call in a closer... It hurts your arm after a while...

  • That one at 00:15 is sooooo weird!!

  • notice none of them are pro.. sure ur sudearm but ur throwing mid 80? its all types and locations of pitches. look at strasburg. yes he can throw 100+, but it is only amazing because of his young age. he is going to pitch just as fast as everyone else. look at griffey jr. vs. zamaya. 104 mph fb = grand slam. speed or delivery does little.

  • 0:43 did he bounce the ball? it looked like he did!

  • submarine and side arm pitchers are very efficient but they usually have short careers

  • uhhhh its called the World baseball classic and guess whos cleaned house?

  • does anybody know the name for the guy on 0:15 thats the coolest wind up i`v ever seen

  • when i watch this i wish i was born in japan :O

  • *sigh* those crazy japs

  • these batters lack a discapline

  • Side arm and sub is better on the arm. I remember when there were more major league pitchers who threw this way.

  • @doncorleon818

It's harder on your back, though.

  • THE ONE AT 1:23 was sweet

  • 00:15 beats dan haren anytime

  • 00:15 was the coolest it was like a hesitation

  • @yankeesteelerfan4313 Anyone know who the hell that guy is?

  • @yankeesteelerfan4313 It's almost a balk

  • @yankeesteelerfan4313

i think an hesitation is actually a base given to the batter. he really made iit look cool as fuck tho since he mixed the speeds of his wind up

  • @Tockwork Yeah ikr it throws you wayy off balance

  • @Tockwork Indeed. Its a balk.

  • @rolemodelsfordummies

chad bradford mike myers are a couple

  • there have been a lot of sidearm pitchers who have had long careers. i think you meant to say you dont know of any submarine pitchers who have had long careers.

  • Comment removed

  • i could play in japan majors today!

  • speed of light

  • ESPECIALLY at 00:45..that hurt just watching.

  • for those submarine pitchers it looks like the fkin ball is rising. holy crap, that would be hard to hit!!!!!

  • @italianboy1234567890 one guy on my rec team throws like this and indeed it is scary

  • Sidearm pitching is so cool looking, would like to learn how to pitch like that...

  • Yo I swear japanese baseball is more fun than american baseball.

  • 0:49 and 0:53, nasty pitches

  • that was some sick shit right there. The spin on the ball is so intense, it's fun to watch

  • Geez 0:44 i thought he bounced it off the ground amazing

  • shunsuke watanabe.... he's the man!

  • yeah,that pitch was NASTY

  • thats the legendary mr subarine

  • that is amazing

and im a soccer player lol

i can even make a soccer ball curve that much

    lol j/p

  • In Japan, the strike zone is much larger than in MLB.

  • it depends on what their height is

  • 0:32 ... That's a pretty high strike ...

  • Is Japan's strike zone a lot bigger?

  • This pitching style seems to generate a lot of movement on the ball. Usually you can't see that much movement on a pitch. Looks like it would be difficult to hit off a sidearm or submarine pitcher, but why do these guys seem to not have much success in the Major Leagues?

  • The fastball is slower, and sidearms are usually specialty pitchers. Also, I'm pretty sure you can't delay pitches like the Japanese do. Which brings up the fact that Japanese like their own league because it's not necessarily second-rate to the MLB. Japan's baseball system is well-made so that there is a large talent pool.

  • lol put the american league vs japanese league, and i might think that the japanese league might clean house, they usually do at the baseball classic, sucess in the major leagues is probably due of lack of support.

  • @slayerx26 the only reason the japs own the classic is because no one good plays on the american team. look at the roster.

  • @slayerx26 You're drunk. Ichiro is the only good player to ever come out of Japan. Dice K sucks. Nomo had one good year. Matsui is mediocre. If you really believe that the Japanese players are on par with American players then you don't know much about baseball at all.

  • @mattrmc19

    Way to put them down.

  • @slayerx26 They clean house because the US does not send their best players.

  • @snake5891

Actually it's more of a case of a bad timing. Because the tournament took place right before spring training, you're not going to get good results.

It should have been handled better but what can you do?

  • That's a pretty sick talent right there.

  • Some of these pitches arent strikes and there calling them strikes

  • In Japan the strike zone is much bigger

  • all i know, japan has some sucky strike zones based on some of these "strikes" i see the umps calling.

  • 0:15 is the weirdest windup ever, it looks like he is about to stop or he trips or something.

  • I can pitch overhead, sidearm, and submarine but i have to say that submarine is deffinetly the coolest and most fun. If you want to try submarine pitchs but you like something like overhead better it will b good for that 3rd strike in the count, the batter will never axpect it. :)

  • the field on 0:14 sucks

  • Who is that at :39? Looks like maybe an American.

  • the one at 1:03 is insane

  • 0:44 -0:46 is insane

  • i pitch like the guy at 0:11 every1s liek why do u pitch sidearm? THATS NOT SIDEARM !

  • Yes it is.

  • dude ya thats side arm. its obviously to the side and hes not down low like submarine.

  • cool pitches

  • lol im chinise i picked this up naturally

  • if you pitch these guys early in games or series, it will mess up the batters timing and how he sees the ball; im so glad i don't have to face these guys

  • Wow. 1:03-1:06 is amazing. Looks like it's going to hit him.

  • Agh, this hurts my arm :[

  • they need limchangyong in this :D

    cept he's not japanese...

  • He's Korean ;D

  • 1:54-1:56 was a nice pitch

  • For real when i watch this my arm already hurts like hellllll!!!!!!!!!

  • Well, there's a trick; you have to time the forward acceleration to get a whipping effect. When you swing back you rather come out to the side or into a more rotational pattern from your glove and you get your hand high.

You will later simply let your body "dig" or get lower rather than staying taller or up like you would normally do.

It's not that hard, but it seems you have to get the feel, even to do it for fun.

  • Usually, I prefer under or side playing infield with my friends; I simply feel it goes off quicker.

However, I use the most conventional arm slot ever when pitching. My friends does them all, from everywhere and he throw them as well on the mound or in the field.

Others even go both side. It's really a matter of "picking" the feel much like a knuckleball unless you can hurt yourself not doing it right while a K ball rarely hurts someone.

  • who's that guy pitching at 1:30?

  • Tomehiro Kaneda in about 1980.

  • just read the description..

  • did you really say that they're terrible hitters? Are you seeing how much most of those balls are tailing? Have you ever batted against a sidearm/submarine pitcher? its ridiculous. Its coming from a completely different angle than you've been taught your entire life, and some pitchers can get a fastball to tail almost as much as a decent slider breaks.

  • at 44 he definitely threw that underhand

  • hitting sidearm pitchers is pretty hard

  • 45 sec looks like it hits the ground

  • yea his names watanbe i think he has the lowest submarine pitch there is it just barely doesn't hit the ground

  • @Imachipmunk79 your right it also looks like he broke his arm 2

  • @Imachipmunk79, yea it does. I watched it in slo-mo.

  • @Imachipmunk79 it's supposed to look like that if you are fully submarine

  • That first guy has got to be tipping his pitches.

  • lol Yeah, but he might be moving the batter's eyes up and down, allowing him to throw him off.

  • Hitting a submarine pitcher is gay. When it looks ball it's a strike. It rises instead of dropping like conventional pitches.

  • you are really really stupid
