Since no translation can translate Faiz's articulation, I will not attempt to correct the given translation, or come up with my own. I will however summarize my interpretation of his poem. Just like Muslims believe that one day the whole universe will be destroyed and we will be resurrected before god to be accountable for our deeds, and the downtrodden victims will get justice, Faiz believed Red Dawn will be a mini judgement day on earth.

It is indeed sung very well. I am listening it for the third time in the last half an hour as per my best guess. It is a guess as she has kept me spellbound.

@opxoxoxopoxite If you cannot appreciate Iqbal Bano and her command over classical music, You know nothing of music, have no discernable taste and your words display an utter lack of class.
Sometimes, if you cannot say something nice, it's best to say nothing at all you turd!
The poet and the singer both have left the world.. but definitely the hope is still there.. in fact becoming stronger.. Insha Allah Hum dekhengay.. the great poetry sang by a great singer...
this is one of the best songs ever sung. it shows that the cruel and tyrant oppressors will die their own death in the long run. pervaiz musharaf has been one of such cruel persons called Yazeed e Azam by most of our country men. Long live Islam Long Live Pakistan. ameenrahi
friends, you can see it in some democractic countries where there is fairly high degree of justice between a common man and the highest office holder of the government. I am skeptical if a day will ever come in our Pakistan when the dream of Faiz and Iqbal - dream of a common man will be realized. Balance of power heavily tilts in favor of the rich and the powerful; Have-nots are simply at their mercy. How i wish I could see a ray of hope at the end of the tunnel.
@TheNetRoamer: As a Muslim we must never be dejected. Remember Haq (truth) will prevail and Batil (Falsehood) will vanish. It is a promise from Allah and Allah keeps His promise.
God help those who help themselves. Dont forget this fundamental law. Haq does not prevail upon batil automatically. Mecca was not conquered on its own, it required army of men, materials and above all leadership. I am not very hopeful just because the nation is suffering without any sign of resistance. God bless you.
An imaginitive tafsir of surah Rahman.Only Faiz was able to do it and he did it splendidly. We all share this hope. The day of Reckoning will bring Justice of all human.

No doubt this is a beautiful Ghazal and so true. But, Geo TV used it to cash their Channel made alot of money paid by Nawaz Sharif and Chief Justice Lobby, but they never paid a single penny to Iqbal Bano or any of her family. When she died she was in very bad condition. This is so Sad. There are prooves that Geo is not Pakistani Patriotic Channel, they are working for Yahoodi and Indian Lobby and cashing Million of Rupees.
dear tauseefqau, aapne to mere man ki baat chhin li hai. what u have said cannot be said someone whose heart is not in the song, in the lyrics and in the celestial height where the singer takes us to. what is more important is that the message of the great faiz saheb is not only taken across but ably underlined by the equally great bano ji. thanks
Exactly this is what i felt after listening eachtime .and the most important thing in singing is that Singer is expressing what poetry means..stress on words, anger, challenge & hope.everything is present..Poetry becomes more understandable after listining such renditions
Very nice song and excellent singer. Unluckily now singer and writer (Faiz Ahmed Faiz) both are not between us. Now we dont have peoples like these only we have stupid MULLAH left to make our country a hell.
aalimon ko gaali dekar sirf raqs o suroor me lage rehna kya yehi deen he..agar haan to allah aap par raham kare aor hidayat de...haan bure aour bad deen aalimon se allah mehfooz rakhe....
@masifkitty2010 Aap apne din ki fikar karein aur humaari aaqbaton ki fiqar hum par chor dein. Apnay harr faile ka jawab hum nay khud daina hai. Do not patronize anyone with your holier than thou attitude! Allah ka kaam Allah par chorein, Khudai fauj daar ban-nay ka koi faida nahin!
What a revolutionary poetry by Faiz Sahab and an amazing performance by Iqbal Bano, wah. Thanks for uploading this! I was fortunate to listened to her live performance.
subhanallah.this is a masterpiece of faiz ahmed faiz.additionally iqbal bano has done justice to the ghazal by blessing her voice to it.the ghazal is the voice of every heart that yearns for justice, peace and unity.Allah bless and have His Mercy on both faiz ahmed faiz and Iqbal bano amin.
so many times i have heard this ghazal and still i feel that my thirst is not quenched. faiz has so beautifully expressed the views of the third world people and when iqbal bano lent her voice to this ghazal it is something that moves your heart and soul and after hearing this i cannot express my feelings as an member of third world. may her soul rest in peace
the lyrics and the voice both is powerful enough to move a person who has a heart that beats. i will certainly not like to praise them as it would amount to glorify myself. faiz and the just-left iqbal bano belongs to everyone irrespective of cast, creed or religion. faiz's lyrics brings tears to my eyes.
i have found the discussion much lively..some stupid too but they r bound to be there as level of intellect differs.
hats off to faiz and iqbal bano -born in delhi-lived in pak.
dear hanu, you really got it very very wrong. this is one of the most beautiful poems and made even more effective by the powerful singing of iqbal bano. he bhagwan, i am appalled. but this use of the word bhagwan does not make me either a hindu or a religious person just as o my god does not make me a christian. really! take it easy on criticising 'allah' haven't you heard all those film songs using such words??
got introduced to faiz by my father. began to make sense of faiz only after the ripe age of 20. then one day heard iqbal bano sing hum dekhenge. makes you believe in allah: only he could have given us this angelic combination of faiz's poetry and iqbal bano's voice.
Also, Faiz was undoubtedly one of the most accomplished poets of his times. Metaphors are an integral part of Urdu poetry. Faiz has merely used arz-e-khuda, kaaba , mardood-e-haram, allah and khalq-e-khuda as metaphors for acceptable and unacceptable orders.
stunning way and mind blowing poetry . undescribable , really

@opxoxoxopoxite If you cannot appreciate Iqbal Bano and her command over classical music, You know nothing of music, have no discernable taste and your words display an utter lack of class.
Sometimes, if you cannot say something nice, it's best to say nothing at all you turd!
Go in Peace!

The poet and the singer both have left the world.. but definitely the hope is still there.. in fact becoming stronger.. Insha Allah Hum dekhengay.. the great poetry sang by a great singer...

Those who are thinking about Hindustan, Pakistan, Hindu, muslim are abusing the shair, one of the best the world has seen as well as the singer.
What is the point of listening to these great works if it still does not open our eyes?

this is one of the best songs ever sung. it shows that the cruel and tyrant oppressors will die their own death in the long run. pervaiz musharaf has been one of such cruel persons called Yazeed e Azam by most of our country men.

326BZ 2 years ago 4
God help those who help themselves. Dont forget this fundamental law. Haq does not prevail upon batil automatically. Mecca was not conquered on its own, it required army of men, materials and above all leadership. I am not very hopeful just because the nation is suffering without any sign of resistance. God bless you.

There are prooves that Geo is not Pakistani Patriotic Channel, they are working for Yahoodi and Indian Lobby and cashing Million of Rupees.

dear tauseefqau, aapne to mere man ki baat chhin li hai. what u have said cannot be said someone whose heart is not in the song, in the lyrics and in the celestial height where the singer takes us to. what is more important is that the message of the great faiz saheb is not only taken across but ably underlined by the equally great bano ji. thanks

kya zabardast awaaz hai, lovely expressions, her singing does not need any support from musical intruments
AnwarFan 2 years ago 2
Exactly this is what i felt after listening eachtime .and the most important thing in singing is that Singer is expressing what poetry means..stress on words, anger, challenge & hope.everything is present..Poetry becomes more understandable after listining such renditions

I am sorry to have heard of the death of Iqbal Balo.
In this selfish world of corporate greed and their pointless wars on the poor she kept the light of protest burning.

so many times i have heard this ghazal and still i feel that my thirst is not quenched. faiz has so beautifully expressed the views of the third world people and when iqbal bano lent her voice to this ghazal it is something that moves your heart and soul and after hearing this i cannot express my feelings as an member of third world. may her soul rest in peace

just the voice and expression for faiz. what a great artist.
preeetlari 2 years ago 2
the lyrics and the voice both is powerful enough to move a person who has a heart that beats. i will certainly not like to praise them as it would amount to glorify myself. faiz and the just-left iqbal bano belongs to everyone irrespective of cast, creed or religion. faiz's lyrics brings tears to my eyes.
i have found the discussion much lively..some stupid too but they r bound to be there as level of intellect differs.
hats off to faiz and iqbal bano -born in delhi-lived in pak.

dear hanu, you really got it very very wrong. this is one of the most beautiful poems and made even more effective by the powerful singing of iqbal bano. he bhagwan, i am appalled. but this use of the word bhagwan does not make me either a hindu or a religious person just as o my god does not make me a christian. really! take it easy on criticising 'allah' haven't you heard all those film songs using such words??
vijar29 2 years ago
got introduced to faiz by my father. began to make sense of faiz only after the ripe age of 20. then one day heard iqbal bano sing hum dekhenge. makes you believe in allah: only he could have given us this angelic combination of faiz's poetry and iqbal bano's voice.
