Thanks mate for posting this fine song to my song "This is My Rifle". I've posted mine here as VR, but you will have to accept it. Thanks again Doug. Mark
This is just unbelievable, Doug....you can flat out pen a song.....you remind me a lot of Pete Seeger, one of my favorite songwriters. Excellent performance too....five stars.
And thanks for the 'harp' comment too, although where I'm going, I couldn't probably take the harp with me. :)
Thank you doug for your moving tribute to why we really fight--to protect our loved ones. The one thing I think that motivates most of us that have served is preserve the love we feel in our lives. To not have anyone we care about hurt. Thanks for passing along your lovely song.
Beautifully done, Doug. You have conveyed exactly what is foremost in a sodier's mind during any difficult deployment, whether there is shooting or not. I count myself lucky not to have been in the thick of it, but I now help train a few soldiers for deployement.. A few haven't come back.
I think that most of us training them are as much concerned with bringing them back safely as with training them to complete the mission.
We know what matters most to the sodkiers and their families.
That was so beautiful Doug, and like I said before we all should hear this everyday, because our soilders are all that's keeping us safe, and not to leave God out. Thanks again. 5*
go beautiful and kind and gentle Doug. like your soul. I love your writing and i love the way do give us yourself so genuinely. 5 big shiney starz for you and a log on the fire and a bottle of down under's finest for you sir!
oops almost for got to tell you another fabulous favorite of mine.
Bravo Doug. I especially like the aspect of the video not taking center stage, allowing the words room to reach out. The song has the ability to reach out to both sides, if they are willing to listen. And as always, a soldiers lament:
Thanks for your consistant support of our songs..Rick shows more appreciation for it then me but i do get around to it eventually and am allways in appreciation
Rick wrote this melody it is a cracker. i just put my feelings into it here. i need a version i can play at those times when theres just a guitar and a fire going and a few folk there and some wine.
Its a song that sits well with your philosophies mate and i tried to keep the words totally inert politicly. that way we can keep both sides of the audiance.
Lovely, touching song. I"ve a nephew who just returned from the Middle-East and I can see how easily it applies to him and his buddies. Thankfully, he is safe back home with his wife and children. Thanks for posting this one, Doug. All the best. - Mark
I listened to both version now... a touching, meaningful song with wise lyrics and wonderful harmonies.
Great work,
