  • whats up man! i have the req5 and im trying to install it right now as i type and its driving me nutts. my car has 2 factory amps, one running the mids and highs (8 channels) and the other amp is mounted inside of the stock kicker 10 inch subwoofer sealed box.

can i add the req just to the stock sub so i can restore the bass to it until i finish saving and ordering all of the equipment that i want (might be a while lol) thank u in advance!

  • Ok. Do you know what the channels are for in the different models like the req-3 or 5? And can I connect tweeters to 1 of the channels of the req-3?

  • Will it sound good with the original speakers or will I have to upgrade them? I just want to add subs to my car but still want it to sound good

  • @abarba399 well if you like the way the speakers sound now then im sure youll be ok, this device doesn't alter the sound for the car speakers, unless you add an aftermarket 4channel amp

  • will my normal speakers that are hooked up to my headunit still work?

  • Dude Thanks for posting this. I just got kicker L7 put in my G6 GT but kept the factory so I wouldn't lose DIC and wheel controls. But I don't like how it sounds. Fucking saved me some money. I was going to go with the Metra 99-3303 but Im going with this.

  • sweet vid man!

  • With the mtx req only you can connect a mono amp only or you can add a 4 channel amp too? Because im planning to leave my factory radio too. Thx man and awesome vid!!!

  • @titone14 with the mtx re-q you can hook up a mono amp and a 2 channel. If you want to use a 4 channel just use y splitters. or you could get the mtx re-q5, the 5 channel one

  • @hulbert87- I would tap into both speakers so it will be a stereo signal. But then again its a subwoofer, usually mono will not hurt. I ended up pulling that and using the NEW audiocontrol LC2i for $100. It seems to be much cleaner. The re-q was not that bad. Thanks again for the video! I know I liked seeing it as it helped me hook it up.

  • @daveroski yea i ended up getting rid of the mtx -req and finally got a pioneer double din. Wasn't any louder on the meter but i have way more adjust ability now

  • @daveroski You still using the LC2i? I'm torn trying to figure out what sound processor thing to get!

  • Hey, just curious why didn't you just tap into your rear speakers and have the box in the trunk with your amp? Do you think this is a good idea? I am about to do this to my vehicle.

  • @daveroski i tapped into my right rear 6x9 speaker and it works, not shure if i was supposed to wire up the left one too though..

  • hi can the re-q just be tapped into the rear speakers and work to send a sub signal or must all speakers be tapped in? thanks

  • i got the 5 chaneel req5 for my 06 5 series i think the installers are putting it in the trunk tho. i guess it dosent matter

  • @inktoxicated yea you can put it where ever you like. I finally got a pioneer double din radio though, so no more mtx-req. check out the newest vids

  • @hulbert87 i got it installed and now there is a wicked alternator whine took it back to shop and they ran tested and there telling me its the mtx req5 and i should swap it for something else

  • dang 70 bucks i gotta look for that. i check sonics site and its selling for $130 and the re-q5 for $180..

  • @808csrt4 you can make an offer on sonicelectronix...just offer them $69.99, they should take it

  • @hulbert87

tx man after i wrote to you saying it was $130 i went back and check it again and then i seen the offer thing. i offered them $50 lol and it camr back saying $72 is the lowest they would go so i bought it. it says on mtx.com that sonic is an authorized internet dealer thats awesome.... tx again keep the vids coming.

  • @808csrt4 amazon has them for cheap

  • @lurk925

i got it from sonicelectronix. it was 73 bucks and sonic is an authorized mtx retailer so it comes with the original mtx warranty.

  • tx bro big help......... think i might have to try this

  • You got the Kicker ZX1000.1 wired at 1 ohm? I thought it was only 2 ohm stable. o.O

  • @bugotti420 it is only 2 ohm stable but with impedance rise and a stable electrical you can run most if not all amps below their ohm rating

  • i see you got some memphis RCA cables. i got the same ones :)

  • @nickdogg1993 there rockfords, but i do have the memphis rca's as well and they are almost identical

  • @hulbert87 well shit..... i feel stupid now lmao but at least i was close haha

  • THANKS
