@327bladerunner I'm by no means an expert on hides here, but that kinda defies what I do know about pigs -- they don't sweat. If the don't sweat, why do they have large pores? Odd. :)
@MrJimbofox I watched your 2 supremacy vids and liked what you had to say. This crossbreed vid was the first I've seen of yours and the symbol/words made me think kkk more than literal translation. All the best.
@Blue79 Thank you very much for taking the time and being open-minded. I can understand the word "supremacy" may throw some people off. But I just hope they at least ask me about it or take a few mins to watch the vids and hear my side of it. I hope you are enjoying the vids and thank you for watching.
Hey man would you recommend the combat cut or standard cut? I can't make my mind up. I think I'd like the combat cut just because it would be easier to draw but how is the draw with the normal cut? and I was think that if I didn't like the normal cut I could always do a custom combat cut. let me know what you recommend.
@danfzzl Well, in the video (part 2)I demonstrate the standard cut and how I have no issue drawing even a compact 9mm like the SR9c. It really comes down to your personal preference, dude. That's not a decision I can make for you. Thanks for watching and for the comment.
@nebula25x That's a tough question to answer since I've never seen or held that particular gun. I do know guys with full size 1911's use ST's all the time. As a general rule, the bigger the gun, the harder to conceal. That's why I choose to carry a compact gun. It's simply easier.
I was looking to get this holster but it only comes for the SR9. I have the Sr40. I heard they can both fit because they are "almost" identical in size. Any insight?
@FastisFast The SR9 and SR40 are virtually the exact same size. If I were you I would simply get a basic kydex holster for the SR9 and see if it fits the SR40. I have a feeling it should fit just fine. A fobus paddle holster will cost u less than 20 bucks, and is a GREAT range holster!!! I use mine all the time!
@samantharenae01 I was actually very unfamiliar with that but that is actually a really cool design. I may have to look into that. Thanks so much for the suggestion.
@samantharenae01 Not really, no. My gun has a nitrodox pro coating on it from Ruger and it's a pretty tough coating. Eventually, I'm gonna get holster wear, that's inevitable. But a gun is tool, not a toy, so I don't mind if it gets a lil scuffed here and there as long as it works.
hate to bash on your buy man but just to let anyone know looking into this type of holster, there is a company called Kholster that makes this exact same thing for way cheaper and will give you much better customer service and product. the Kholster holsters are actually a little bit bigger but keep in mind you can cut them down to the size you want, there are a few vids on doing this and reviewing them on youtube. just search "Kolster"
@Sirmellowman Thanks for the comment but I looked into the kholster before I bought the ST and IMO it is NOT the same thing at all. The kholster to me is just a cheap knock off. The leather is nowhere near as good of quality and the product is not made to the same standards. I've seen em side by side (I know someone who has one) and even HE admitted that the ST is the superior made product. To each their own but in the case of the kholster, to me...it's the classic "you get what you pay for"
@metallica454 I've heard arguments on both sides of that, honestly. Crossbreed was the first one I'd heard of doing this, and most people asked seem to agree they were first. Not saying that makes it a fact, just saying that seems to be the consensus as far as I can tell.
@metallica454 I don't see a patent registration # on tucker's site but I do see one on crossbreed's. Do you have any additional info about it? If you do I'd be more than happy to add an annotation to the vid referencing it.
@MrJimbofox Tucker might not have had the smarts to patent anything, but Mark Craighead, founder of Crossbreed, has stated on his forum, XDTalk.com (to which, I'm a member), that his design is not an original one. There are certain manufacturing processes and features that he has patent pending, but the kydex/leather hybrid is not an original thought.
@metallica454 "Automatic" and "semi automatic" are virtually interchangeable these days. :) When someone is referring to a true auto, they typically refer to it as a "full auto" :)
I also have a CBST with an SR9c. I just wanted to add that I like to carry with a round in the chamber, so the Loaded Chamber Indicator comes up slightly, causing the gun to fit into the holster tighter.
Have you ever had any problems with this setup? I find it difficult to tuck in a shirt over the gun without it "printing" easily.
Nice vid. Question. So I have a springfield xd40 subcompact 3 inch barrel. I'm planning on buying the 5 inch barrel model in 9 mm. When i order my crossbreed Should I tell them to make the kydex to fit the 5 inch model xd? Will my subcompact 3 inch fit in it as well as the 5 inch model? Thanks. Please reply here or pm me. Thanks a million.
@MedicBikers2007 Thanks for watching. Honestly? I'm not entirely sure. I can tell you that I ordered mine for the full size SR9 and it fits my SR9c perfectly. If the XD is the exact same just with a chopped down barrel, I'd think you are ok but I would probably ask Crossbreed.
Any problems with Crossbreed accidently releasing magazine. I have a glock 23 and noticed the release button presses against the leather which means the leather is pushing against the release. Just got mine and find it a beautifully made product.
if you take a hairdryer to it and press in on the holster around the trigger guard or ejection port youll increase retention if you wanted it to hold tighter
@MrJimbofox yeah, the kydex when heated gets really malleable and soft, heat it till its flexible, put the gun in, and press down for like 60 seconds to get a custom fit, and it can be heated and refitted as many times as you want... i may buy one of these holsters when i get my SR9 this fall
Jimbo, good review. I'm pretty much sold on the CB ST, but the Kholster is an option. Looks like a knock off to me. Have you done any mods to it yet? Do you think the combat cut would have been better? And does the horsehide slide around any?
@evilbull55 I really don't feel my supertuck needs any mods. I think it's perfect the way it is. I feel the combat cut wouldn't be nearly as comfortable because the gun would be digging into your side. It doesn't move at all.
Great Vid as i think your the only one to show the horse hide version!! mine was ordered a few days ago and i cant wait!! have you had any issues with the holster shifting around? i also ordered the j clips as i heard you can mix n match till u fig. what works best..i figured for $5 bucks more it couldnt hurt to have them... better to have and not need than need and not have!!
i had one of the horsehide ones on order for my LCR but where its not that big of a gun i canceled the order cause i would rather carry it in a pocket holster like i been doing its much easier with that gun but i wish i would have keep the order for my kimber 4in 1911 i got the crossbreed snapslide owb in bomber black leather and its great!!!
I got my crossbreed 1 week ago. It's horsehide and regular cut. Untreated and fresh out of the package the comfort is outstanding! I wear it just slightly behind my right hip. EXCELLENT holster. Great construction. Outstanding comfort. My carry pistol is a Springfield XD 45 with a 13 round clip.
I would have to agree i have worn mine since feb everyday and i have yet to find a more comfortable holster. wether sitting or standing this baby feels great.I usualy put it on @ 8am and wear it till at least 8pm
Great review man. I think you did a great job showing the crossbreeds strong points. I ordered a crossbreed for myself a week ago! I cant wait to get it so I can use it for summer carry! Thanks for sharing and keep up the great work.
I prefer pocket carry. In fact I sold my S&W M&P 40 and went with the Kel Tec PF9 and pocket holster. I have never felt comfy carrying on the side. I may try one of those when I have 90 bucks to spend. It is all in the preference of the individual I suppose. The S&W was just to damn bulky for me. Keep the vids coming though. Great stuff!
@thenerdsgetchicks To each their own, sir. I considered pocket carry but for the guns i like to carry it just wouldn't work. I'm not a big fan of certain types of hip carry, but this radically changed my opinion of IWB holsters. It's just something you have to try to really understand. Thanks so much for watching.
Does the horsehide need to be oiled from time to time? About it possibly falling out... I wouldn't recommend playing football with the guys, jumping on a trampoline, falling down stairs, or being shaken upside down while wearing any weapon with ANY holster!! Lol! Great vid bro!
@tim12161974 To my knowledge, no. I didn't see anything about it with the info that came with it. It's pretty good leather. Yeah, if you are just walking/running you'll be fine with this. I've hauled ass up 3 big flights of stairs with it and it didn't so much as rattle. If you are wearing it the way you are supposed to, your pants/belt are keeping it snug in place without issue.
they ought to use pigskin, it breaths better than cow or horse because pigs have larger pores.

@amedmo IMHO, it's about as comfortable as an IWB can be. I don't mind it much, honestly. The leather seems to do its job.
