not to mention that there is no point in the books that would suggest that he is gay. you cant write a book and then poof just randomly start changing characters after the book is written... if you changed it in the book.. fine its your choice... but i refuse to accept her choice to randomly decree and change the basic fabric of a character on a mere whim or afterthought with zero foreshadowing or zero foundation to that change.

Dumbledore is not gay... Rowling is just a attention whore who decided to attempt to ruin a perfectly good character with strange last minute backtracking and smokescreens with a strange perversion of the Harry/Dumbledore relationship in a uneccesary and slightly disturbing effort to increase the publicity of the books. Thankfully WB had the sense to ignore her idiocy and to not taint the perfectly brilliant story with her idiotic decision.

@Darison90 She said that while writing Dumbledore, she always thought of him as gay. It also explains his relationship with Grindelwald and how he was blinded by his love. Besides, being gay does not mean that he had any feelings for Harry. Neither does it change "the basic fabric" of his character. But I'm guessing you wouldn't have had a problem if he would've been straight. So that makes you rather narrow-minded.

@BelgianBollocks well in hindsight, I should have simply stuck to the fact that it really ruined the character for me. Dumbledore is my favorite character in the series and changing him to being gay seriously changed the character for me. and I would respectfully stand by my statement that it changed "the basic fabric" because by saying that he is gay you assign to him all of the preconceptions and stereotypes both negative and positive that come with it.

I would be extemely surprised if you could tell me that when you heard that he was gay that that information did not seriously and dramatically change and redefined how you interpreted and percieved the character and caused you to rethink and scrutinize old dialogue... I appologize for my original harsh and rather rude tone. It just a touchy subject for me.

@BelgianBollocks it feels to me like it was an uneccesary change. with no real foundation, that seriously affected my enjoyment of the movies/books. I suppose it might be my own shortcoming... but it just seemed to destroy my perception of the awesome grandfatherly relationship between Harry and Dumbledore... so I have found it easier to simply disregard rowlings decision and count it as false (even though she is the creator of the character) so as to salvage that relationship.

@Darison90 Thanks for the reply. Dumbledore being gay does not change anything about the grandfatherly relationship they had. Sure, being gay has an influence on your life, but if you think that somehow that prevents anyone from having non-sexual relationships, then it seems to me that you have a distorted view of gay people. Just like this might be a touchy subject for you, it is also one for me (I'm gay). I was surprised when I heard, but it was my fault to assume he was str8 in the 1st place.
