can some youtube expert explain to me the logic why it seems that the position behind is advantageous? I mean like, if its the last lap, cant the person in front just sprint till the end with all his might? Why does the person behind still able to overtake at the end? Stamina? But its Theo Bos...
@soobeng agree whit you, after 150 kms. it's hard to do this same sprint. But I noticed that Cavendish did compete in Olympics games 2008 in track (Madison). Therefore I think that in the past, maybe in some British championships, Cav and Hoy did confronts one at one, in sprint, or 1 km.

G, Ninja. I guess that means you can stick 7 1/2 100watt light bulbs up your ass. I'm 54 yo. I was 19 once. Pretty cocky, too, if I remember right. I may not be a lab geek, but I'm sure I could have surpassed your best effort on a Cadex machine. Do you know what that is? Did you ever beat a TDF winner in a race? Yeah, I didn't think so. Shut up, and train more. Talk when you have won a UCI sanctioned race. Merry Christmas!
Wow for a 54 year old you acted like a 13 year old. Look at you getting all emotional and telling people to "shut up"... your a credit to england really, well done. Act your age
of course it is not much, if you compare it to any kind of engine but it's still massive, because the human body is not made for cycling from an evolutinary perspective. and you also have to consider the fact, that the human body additionally produces three times the pedal-output energy as heat.
so when hoy puhes his pedals with 2230 his whole body produces the energy-equivalent of 8920 watts or 11,73 hp, which is quite impressive!
WE INVENTED BICYCLES TO MAXIMIZE THE HUMAN BODY OUTPUT. Humans don't need to evolve to use bikes because bikes were designed to be used by humans. If we had different body specifications, obviously bicycles would be different, so the fact that "the human body is not made for cycling" doesn't mean shit.
Human effort is usually measured in ergs, not watts. But, to put it into a measure most people can relate to, the great Eddy Merckx could produce almost 1 horsepower in a maximum effort. So, a great sprinter has roughly one horsepower at their disposal. Does that help answer the power output of a cyclist? Also, it is more difficult to put an all-out effort into a sprint, that to time trial for 30 miles. I'm not saying it's less effort to TT, but an all-out sprint is quite unlike other cycling.
Whaattt? I'll have to look that up again, as I couldn't find any solid numbers when I asked that question, but if that's true that is just insane ars1msy.
Hoy the legend... but he will retire soon. Who will be next sprinter.. ???? From my view, AzizulHasni Awang from Malaysia.. will conquer the world. In the final sprint UCI 2009... he's really fast...
Dudes its a sprint the 2 riders sus each other out for 1.5 - 2 laps then they hit it for the sprint the guy at the back usally has the better advantage and theo its a really good sprinter his more of a kerian rider
as if anyone is going to beat those thighs.. imense.. so imense they are too imense!! if he had gone off straight away the other chump would have been mince hoy!! look at the sprint gap he made up!! imense

11,73hp? And horses do not produce heat? It's absurd to multiply his power by 4 because of the heat. Horses are also no perpetuum mobile.
3hp are 3hp. And that is really massive

BRITANS. ¿somebody know if Hoy and Cavenish somete time did compete face to face in track or route. I can imagine Cavendish defeated one by one.
kinered 1 year ago
@kinered true to a certain extend. if hoy trains himself to be a road racer, he will not have this kind of sprint. you can't compare like that.
