skin? Am Staffs have black noses. period. they can have blue but all that is is a dillution of black so its technically still black. pure bred am staffs cant have red noses.

no they really arent. The American Pit Bull Terrier is not the same breed. APBTs appearance veries greatly and the Am staff is pretty uniform. The Am STaff stems from an APBT named Colby's Primo and the standard was written after that dog. The breeds have been seperate for too long to be considered the same breed. if u want i can send you some pics of some ADBA registered APBTs and you can tell me if they look like Am Staffs to you.

Red or blue noses are a recessive gene. They along with dogs with Black noses are the same breed. Many Rednose dogs descend down out of dogs once bred by Lightner, Hemphill, Wallace, etc. These dogs are referred to as Old Family Rednose dogs. Almost all modern Pit Bulls and some Amstaffs can trace their ancestry back to a dog called Ferguson's Centipede, an OFRN.

Ok so fat is a little harsh. What I am saying is....this dog is way too stocky. The original blood resembles much more terrier and game bloodlines resulting in a leaner more athletic dog. When you start breeding for a thicker head and chest your are making a diff breed and cannot call it a APBT.

Amstaffs are my favorite bull breed. I had an amstaff and he seemed to stay the same size from 6 months to a year. Is this normal or can they get bigger? like the other bull breeds ive seen with big ass chains around there neck and shit.
well put, if you breed properly, they are different, the apbt should be lean, tallish,a bit longer snout! the amstaff muzzle should be more squarish, bigger, and still tallish, defined colours, im not sure about these very muscular short bully breeds, they, to me are not pits!!
It just depends on whether the dog is registered with the UKC, or the AKC. The UKC considers both breeds to be the same, but the AKC does not. The AKC believes that the Amstaff is more so a 'show dog'. Therefore, they will not designate both breeds under one uniform category. So even major organizations will debate over this.

Red or blue noses are a recessive gene. They along with dogs with Black noses are the same breed. Many Rednose dogs descend down out of dogs once bred by Lightner, Hemphill, Wallace, etc. These dogs are referred to as Old Family Rednose dogs. Almost all modern Pit Bulls and some Amstaffs can trace their ancestry back to a dog called Ferguson's Centipede, an OFRN.

amstaffs and AMPBT,, R of the same breed but amstaffs got recognized as there own breed in the 30,s so none of the laws soruonding pitbulls apply to the amstaffs!! but another great dog is THE AMERICAN BULLY!! and bully isnt short for bull dog thats a diffrent breed!! wen u x a american pit bull terrier with a amstafff u get a american bully preety much!!!

I dont really understand what u are aiming too??? but in my opinion, the am bully's u see today mostly in the states are a shame to the breed. there fat an none athletic. my self I have a pure breed am staff. she is 2 and half yrs and weighs 22kg. thin, REALLY energetic and athletic. mussel tone too.:)

@ManlnCognito Yes there is. The American Staffordshire Terrier was allowed into the American Kennel Club Stub book in 1936 under the name The Staffordshire Terrier. The AKC changed the breed's name in 1972 to The American Staffordshire Terrier to distinguish the breed from its smaller British cousin The Staffordshire Bull Terrier. The American Pit Bull Terrier, The American Staffordshire Terrier and The Staffordshire Bull Terrier all share the same ancestry.

Ok so fat is a little harsh. What I am saying is....this dog is way too stocky. The original blood resembles much more terrier and game bloodlines resulting in a leaner more athletic dog. When you start breeding for a thicker head and chest your are making a diff breed and cannot call it a APBT.

You may argue with that if you like.

@apbtonline I agree with with that delineation. The same could be said for the UKC or ADBA registered American Pit Bull Terrier who shares the same ancestry as the American Staffordshire Terrier and the Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

Right on Video! My boy "Kobe" is like Blade, a Stafforshire Red Nose American Pit Bull, at 3 mos. my boy was 31 1/2 pounds, now 4 mos he is at 35lbs. Love my dog, Support, Protect, and love the breed, great dogs with good temperment!

Amstaffs are my favorite bull breed. I had an amstaff and he seemed to stay the same size from 6 months to a year. Is this normal or can they get bigger? like the other bull breeds ive seen with big ass chains around there neck and shit.

WVG103 is correct. The Amstaff is slightly larger, stricter colour variation, and a slightly different temperment. Both kick ass breeds though!

well put, if you breed properly, they are different, the apbt should be lean, tallish,a bit longer snout! the amstaff muzzle should be more squarish, bigger, and still tallish, defined colours, im not sure about these very muscular short bully breeds, they, to me are not pits!!

It just depends on whether the dog is registered with the UKC, or the AKC. The UKC considers both breeds to be the same, but the AKC does not. The AKC believes that the Amstaff is more so a 'show dog'. Therefore, they will not designate both breeds under one uniform category. So even major organizations will debate over this.
