FYI this is a great 5 star hotel, you probably payed for the cheapest room. The food was great (they were able to make a parve chocolate cake better than any dairy cake I've ever had!), good service, nice location, beautiful lobby, for the orthodox Jews Shabbat meals, a kids lounge, gift shops, and lots more. You can say whatever you want but this is a great hotel!....... nut case
Although I am not going to comment on whether Starwood sucks or not based on the fact that the "1" button the the safe doesn't work... Are you sure that's all that you could point to that was disappointing? Shucks, if that was why someone said the hotel I worked for sucks though, (not the case here) at any one of the hotels I have worked for, I would say that we were doing a fabulous job.

It cud have easily been fixed if u just call the reception. You didn't give the hotel a chance to do any service recovery. Just becos one miserable button doesn't work doesn't make the hotel HELL, does it? Maybe u just had a bad day.
I am a corporate services agent for starwood hotels and I would have to say that yes you should definitely have contacted us. We would have notified the hotel's executive staff of the issue and tried to assist in the best way possible.
Normally, if a guest has a bad stay, then we generally open a file through our Corporate Customer Service. Which can be reached at 800-328-6242. From there they will assess the problem, which by the looks of it, was pretty bad experience, and then talk to the Hotel and further investigate the problem. Seeing that your Air Conditioning didn't work, and the location you were staying, that's a pretty big deal and issue. I can't see Starwood overlooking that one.
The Sheraton in St. Petersberg Florida is a dump for $250. I've stayed in better motels. Sheraton Eau Clair in Calgary Alberta Canada is very very nice. What's with pressing the button over and over...I don't get it...it's broken so call the front desk to sent maintenance up for you......
starwood does not suck. I stay with starwood and its great. U probably pay for a cheap room. Come to a place in New York, the starwood hotel is named St. Regis with very nice rooms for about 1,000 a night. IS THAT GOOD ENOUPH FOR YOU
The St. Regis may not suck. Other Sheratons we've stayed at do not suck. But THIS specific Sheraton sucks miserably. And Starwood Corporate sucks worse for allowing that dive to tarnish the Steraton and Starwood name. I expect consistently (good) experiences when staying at a Sheraton hotel. This Sheraton didn't provide that and Starwood doesn't care.

so what!!!
the "1" button doesn't work (big deal) - you still have thousands combinations to lock your safe.
how stupi can you be to show all other buttons working so many times just for showing that button "1" doesn't work.....
