This vid is great! haha I always speak like this with my friends!! We totally have our own language together (I'm Australian - the token foreigner of the group) hahahaha it's great! Thanks for making this vid, I'm so glad there is another person on this planet who can understand my gaijinben loool
Enjoyed your video! You are so different when you speak English and when you speak Japanese! Like when you did the Re: to Ken Tanaka's video, you seemed very quiet and non-expressive, but in this video, you are very expressive in your facial expressions and in your speech! Well, I hope you are enjoying your stay in Japan!
でもactuarly,we seldom use もしもし on the mobile phone. cause we already know that who we are going to talk to. we say just はい. of course when we talk to senior/elder people, we use もしもし/moshes. ご参考までに!
@noholzba woah those glasses actually have prescription lenses in them?!?! lol i used 3D glasses from a movie and knocked out the lenses and i wear those around because they are kinda fun. they look exactly like your glasses lol
what fun,! you should post more of these. One day through some bizarre set of circumstance I just know I will end up waking up in a Japanese ditch, and it would be nice to have this bastardized Japanese somewhere in the recesses of my mind. : )
Thanks! Ohio was...actually a lot warmer that I anticipated. It doesn't really get cold until January and February...by which time I'd already returned to Japan...
Thanks! Yeah I'd been thinking about making something about our bizarre gaijin-english for a while now...and maybe I'll do a sequel or something too...
okono sounds very strange! lol japanese never shorten the word "okonomi yaki" although they do like to shorten tons of words. come to think about it is actually quite a long word.
Between my friends and I its mostly for areas...like shibs, ike, sjuku, omote, ichimaru, makku,"On the chika" "suicide sen". But sometimes food like yakini, and we use kaiten too.
Yeah! Oh my god and it's regional, too! Here in Kyot (and no I did not forget that last O) we meet up in Sanj and Shij, or shink it over to Tokyo when we have the time. And yakinikks! Delicious yakinikks...
it's funny with "staba" being used. I think a lot of American businesses get abbreviated like that. Mathieu always calls Mc Donald's "Macdo" so it's a bad habit I have picked up.
Also for staba, what's the romanization for the first character in that? I didn't think you could have an "s" next to a "t" in Japanese.
I've noticed the Japanese abbreviate EVERYTHING. Kinda love it. And they actually say Macdo ("makudo") too! Well in Kanto, at least. Here in Kyoto they say Mac ("makku").
As for staba, the correct romaji would be "sutaba." But it looks silly when put in an English context!
I am so angry. This video fills me with rage.

Interesting take on that lol
oh and i FUCKING LOVE OKONOMIYAKI!! Fried cabbage cake is like the literal English translation but it sounds icky that way.

lol and I used to always use a mix of Japanese and English with my foreign friends. Probably sounded pretty weird haha.
And here in America I still use nandeyanen ALL THE TIME.

ps people dont get offended hearing u guys say this?
watchdog2007 3 years ago
Hm..well I don't see why anyone would get offended... I mean the Japanese language is certainly full of strange words that once resembled English...
Anyway I doubt most Japanese people would even understand (unless they had super-good English, in which case they'd probably just laugh).

Your facial expressions and silly, haphazard way of teaching make the video wonderful.
You seem really energized in it, ready to go! Excited. It makes me want to jump up out of bed, and yell 'IKIMASHO!'
But my cold(Or whatever it is) disagrees, it's very bimyou about the whole matter.
Thanks for the video. I look forward to seeing more.
