a lisp is where the person has difficulty with words containing "s" and it usually sounds like a "th" or "f" sound.

rhotacism is where the person cannot pronounce the letter "r" correctly and in Jonathan Ross' case it comes out as a "w" sound.

there is a difference.

I don't know for sure, but i'm guessing that a lot of people that don't have a speech impediment don't know the word... so, as much as I like learning stuff, you could be a little more kind about it.

At school we had what we called a "Sprachtante", who checked if any of the pupils has a speech impediment and gave them special lessions. I was "treated" for my lisp (well, those lessons didn't have any effect apart from being even more picked on by other pupils) as words with "s" sounds are difficult for me, while another one had problems with the letter "r" (therefore he had to spend a lot of time gurgling water).
