Just to nitpick, Spoon's debut Telephono came out in 1996, though it sounds nothing like early Wilco, and even less like Can. They took there name from a Can song, but that's really it. Spoon is a pop band, Can was a jazz rock/experimental/wahetever band. Nothing sounds like Can, except On the Corner and a few unique records here and there.
BTW, Wilco is much better than Rage. Rage is leftist junk for adolescents.
i hope there new album isnt as boring as all of there new songs are. they need more "yhf and a gosht is born" -esque music. although this song is kind of cool
P.S I'm a fan of both RATM and Wilco. I would say a way bigger fan of Wilco. However if i was there i would still go check out RATM. They haven't toured in a long time and I'm sure by the sidelines i can handle watching the band and the kids moshing.
That's a terrible statement, RATM is one of the most influential bands and amazing on top of that. If I had my way I would have seen both Wilco and Rage, it was unfair to schedule them at the same time. But to call someone a neanderthal because they went to rage instead of wilco is a bogus statement.
Think about it, How often will you be able to see RATM live compared to Wilco(especially if you live in chicago)?
You sir, are a douchebag. Not for seeing Wilco, but for dissing rage fans
you posted that anyone who saw Wilco instead of Rage is a douchebag, so i dont see why you would be so offended at being called a neanderthal. RATM is real influential...to angry 15 year old boys who have no idea what the hell de la rocha is singing about.
i don't have anything against wilco, but i got the impression that the only people who went to wilco were girls the people who couldn't handle being in the crowd at rage. *shrugs*
exactly. as an adult, i have no desire to mosh or act like a retard. like i said, RATM is great...if your a juvenile delinquent. i'm sure limp bizkit and korn are thankful for all the influence rage provided them.
i'm pretty sure spoon's LP debut came out in 93....wilco didn't form till 94, so not sure how they influenced spoon. they were influenced by CAN...look em up....as far as interpol, they're influenced by JOY DIVISION...at least if you call completely ripping off being "influenced"
dude you are right about spoon not being influenced by wilco but they definitely are not influenced by can.. I mean those bands are hardly in the same genre
Re: moodyones comment about RATM and " retard neanderthals." You should take a step back and listen. Those angry 15 year olds will be running the country very soon. RATM delivers a powerful, stand up for your rights message. Obviously moody... youre a conservative and don't understand.
i'm in no way conservative. those 15 year olds will only be running the country if they can ever put their xbox controller down. RATM hasn't put out a new record in years, and this has been the perfect political climate for them to "spread their message". RATM is more focused on selling Che t-shirts than they are making a difference.
RATm broke up in 2000. Pretty tough to record a new album when the band wasn't together. Anyway like i said before... if you were at the show and listened then maybe you could form an opinion. But you were not. So moody your comments are a bit off the mark.
rage isn't even in the same category as korn or limp bizkit. rage against the machine has a message. they have ideals they stand up for. i am an adult, and i was near the front of the rage crowd. i guess some people just have more heart...
wild to see how nervous tweedy is b/c this isnt a finished song.
he really might be a genius.

Rage Against the Machine is left-wing politics for idiots. I guess they make some people feel smart, though.

limp and korn actually have taken influence from mr bungle and primus.
ratm have inspired many acts rap wise and metal wise
they are also polically important as is wilco.
wilco has inspired many indie acts such as interpol and spoon.
both are great acts

I was at the show-- on stage. If you were facing the front of the stage I was off to the right like 20-30 yards away from where Pat was playing.

So? Does that make you feel like a better man because youwere on the stage?

He was making a comment that has nothing to do with anything. And I'm an asshole because it's my nature. Deal with it.
