  • need help is better equinox model or exomax? thanks

  • Just bought a Horton Supreme 175 lb setup barely used for $250. Never bow hunted, but am taking it out in a few days. I'd like some advice on the mechanical broadheads I got with the bow and going for the traditional rifle shoulder shot for a quick-drop.

The blades expand to a 2-inch cut and fly straight as heck.

Do you have any thoughts on shooting through the shoulder blade to:

1 - keep him from running too far

2 - maximize damage and kill quicker

    Thanks for the video!

  • Good vid, nice crossbow. I lived in Palm Bay, and Melbourne for a while. Never knew where to go out there though. Now I live in Tennessee. I'm getting a Trailblazer 180 lb crossbow, myself. I've gotten some good reviews on it. Let;s hope they're right.

  • I found a website they have the Excalibur Equinox "Lite Stuff" Crossbow Package with Free Shipping $849.99 retails for $970.99 and they also have the all new barnett ghost 400 for only $839.99 with free shipping.

  • SHOOT THE GOD DAMN THING...LOOKS GODLY!!

  • If you find yourself in Brevard County, Florida call Mate Cates at 1-321-863-2985 for a Wild Boar Hunt. Matt charges $150 dollars for an all day hunt which includes one wild hog. Each additional hog, of any size, is $50 dollars more. Last time I hunted with Matt and his group I shot one 75 pound board and an additional 120 pound gold colored boar. Matt also does gator hunting on two 3000 acre impoundments. the land is private, hunt any time, and he 100 gator tags.

  • Greetings all. I have a Facebook Page called "Hunting 101 - The Basics of Hunting. It is a community page and if you select "Like" you will receive periodic tips, suggestions, and advice from real hunters who hunt on a shoe string budget and are willing to share what they have learned. Also, once you click "Like" and have a tip to share go ahead and post.

  • unlike a rifle, crossbows are very quiet

  • I own an Excalibur Equinox and my crossbow will not engage the string unless it is in the "fire" position. I have to cock my bow and then engage the safety.

  • excalibur equinox or barnett predator crossbow? why?

  • that from cod 7?

  • I can't hunt in England with bows or X bows, but still went for the Excalibur for it's simplicity and hard as nails construction. Looking forward for 3d with it though

  • stupid redneck

  • @linear20101 id rather be with this redneck is in a survival situation! better than hanging with a hippie fag who thinks food comes from the super market! youre a useless human being ..ask yourself if society fall what could you offer yourself or anybody! dont attempt to answer back! youre dead wrong on this jerk!!!

  • @WORLDARYANREVIVAL so what muthafucker?from killing animal to killing human using crossbow?shut u muthafucker.

  • @linear20101 You're an idiot.

  • @merlock101 dude u more idiot, study more dont play you tube much, its make u more idiot, and pls moron go get some master and degree do smting worth it bout the world, dont be moron in the box..pls im beg u be more clever than 3 years old boy..pls idiot merlock, if has word can describe below moron and idiot i give it to you that word more suitable for u merlock..go out idiot see the world u become abit wise i think, if not definealy i have no word to describe how moron u are.

  • @linear20101 I'm sorry linear, I couldn't desypher that inane babbling. I think you called me an idiot back, but I'm not quite sure. In any case, your English needs work.

  • Thanks for sharing.

  • Folks...September is the beginning of bow season. Inventory all your items, purchase new points, replace that string, and fix any defects now. Also, I recommend a good bug repellent and plenty of liquids. September can be brutal in the southern states. Have fun and teach a young person about hunting. It is a bonding experience.

  • CROSSBOWS SUCKS GREADE LUNCHERS ROCKS!

  • @ketegr123--Grenade launchers destroy the meat. The meat is the reason I hunt anyway. I hunt from hunger, not sport. Grenade launchers are great for killing human game though. Yes, indeed.

  • @tardwhisperer yeah thats right didnt passed even from my mind :(

  • @ketegr123--So you can tell when you are being sarcastic, but you couldn't detect any sarcasm in my response? Oh well. I guess when you're stupid, you're too stupid to know that you're stupid.

  • @tardwhisperer dear hunting is easy... i hunted 3 in my life time..they come to me and i did it all from the safety of my car while driving in the park way at 80 mph :D

  • @Doeboy555--Thank you for shopping at Tardwhisperer's.

  • @ketegr123 yea crossbows are a big fail.. specially the part of reloading rifles are a win

  • anyone know where i can get a good compound crossbow under $300 or at $300? thanks

  • @fate11twister Try the various on-line hunting sites like Gander Mountain and Bass Pro.

  • if you dont want the animal to run shoot it in the ass like right through that area should stop it from running it might limp [slowly]

  • @TheDirectorProject I would suggest the area around the heart or through both lungs. Shooting it in the rump is not a quick kill and the animal will continue to run.

  • @TheDirectorProject you obviously don't know shit if youre suggesting to shoot an animal anywhere other than the heart. anywhere else is just cruel and causes unnecessary pain and suffering, and shows a complete lack of compassion or intelligence. there is a special place in hell for people like you TheDirectorProject

  • my tips try to when your deer hunting try to stay close to deer trails and hunt all day you nener know when that big buck is going to walk buy your setup

  • @catfishalex43 Yes! I have seen deer at 11 AM and as late as 3 PM walking about. You never know.

  • Thanks for the video .... been shooting compound bow and was looking at the Excalibur crossbows at the archery shop. Quick question ... would you recommend the Excalibur, which are recurve, over the other compound brands. They look simpler but still deliver the fps. Simpler is always nice. Thanks again for the vid.

  • @NorthoftheBorder905 Personally, I like the recurve over the mechanics of a compound. Thats just me thou. A personal choice.

  • @freedompalmbay ya i agree but i think compounds go farther from what i heard but i also heard recurves are more accurate imma buy a recurve but im saveing so i can get a good 1

  • @NorthoftheBorder905

You will get a pass through either way, so just go with what you like. Excaliburs have renowned accuracy and workmanship that can't be beat, imho. I have an exocet on the way and I feel like a kid at christmas. :)

  • @NorthoftheBorder905 also i have heard recurve is better because it has less weight on it, simplier (like you said) easier to put the string on the recurve, harder to break, and excalibur has been around for a long time or at least longer than other brands

  • @NorthoftheBorder905

I have the Excalibur Equinox. It's the top model, and can shoot up to 350 fps. The owner of the company even took down an African bull elephant with one! They are extremely accurate and durable. Being a recurve crossbow, if you nick, and or damage a string in the field, you can replace it right there, using Excaliburs re-. stringer tool they have. With a compound crossbow and the cams involved, your day will be done, and a trip to the shop will be in order.

  • @colbertnation1776 You do not need something this fancy. My uncle in Nebraska has a 40 pound crossbow and has killed three deer from 20 yards.

  • @colbertnation1776 Yes...no automatic safety. You have to remember to engage and disengage. At least on the olf models it works this way.

  • Shawnee not "Chawnee". My bad. If you have time check out Shawnee Wineries in Vienna, Illinois. The wine called Dream Catcher is the best!

  • Folks...only a few months until bow season is upon us. Time to get out now and scout, stock up on those supplies, mend those hunting clothes, and replace those rusty blades. Also, think about purchasing a hard case (Airlines), TSA locks, and saving for those hunting permits. Check out Chawnee National Forest in lower Illinois. There are some huge deer on these public lands.

  • i have one of those i shot a coon with it.

  • tac 15 are amazing and so are excaliburs..... so many options so few zomies

  • I have a excalibur vortex. Like they say it is the most accurate crossbow made.

5 for 5 in the last 3 years i have owned it.

  • niceeeeeeeee

  • TSSSTTSSS

  • very nice crossbow , i love the recurve crossbows !

  • Thank you. I am thinking of purchasing one of the stick bows for 2010.

  • I want a crossbow to but im only 16 and nobody want a 16 year old teenager in his club :(

  • @123maxence321 I'm 13 and I got into a club with my bow but I want a crossbow :( lol

  • got the same problem , i'm in a club to with my bow BUT I WANT A CROSSBOW !

  • indeed

  • I GOT ONE TODAY ,,, VORTEK ILL LET YOU NO

  • @canadianNS420

Your gonna love it. It shoot WASP and Bloodrunners like field points

  • I live up in Canada. Am about to buy my first crossbow (excalibur)...I may be back with some very basic questions.

    Thanks for posting.

  • I will try to help where I can.

  • can u get this gun in england and how much is it bye its self

  • Not sure what the import laws are for England. I would check on the import laws first. Once your good there the rest is ordering over the internet and shipping costs. If you purchase one also buy a hard case if you plan on transporting the bow on planes or trains.

  • staelens sport can help you , its a very great and big store ( biggest archery store in belgium ) and they send bows and crossbows everywhere in europe

  • can you tell me how much does it cost?

  • If you go with all the bells and whistles to include scope, block (target), sling, extra bolts, and protective case probably around 1200 dollars. If you go with the bow and scope around 850 dollars. The string is the only item replaced each season. Other than that it is a quality crossbow with very little in maintenance costs.

  • thanks

  • i have a horton crossbow and i like hunting with it more than my 270. its so powerful. i use muzzy mx 3s at 100 grain weight and hunt deer and i do heart shots and it passes through like nothing, i love my crossbow

  • I enjoy my rifles but crossbows are also fun. Horton is a good crossbow but not sure about the muzzy mx 3 tips. I have not used them. Any thoughts on the pros and cons of these tips?

  • pros are is they can penetrate like no mechanical can. and they fly pretty similar to a field tip. cons are that if it hits the shoulder the tips can bend but other than that the tips are great. pretty cheap too.

  • Thanks for tips!!

  • @freedompalmbay

I have a freind that swears by muzzys. I personally have never tired them.

    Maybe this summer

  • Videos - What videos would you like to see with regard to crossbow hunting, hunting 101 type of information, tracking, packing for hunting, etc?

Travel - If traveling with your crossbow the TSA agents do NOT need to do anything special with the case. Do make sure it is in a locked hardcase using TSA locks (Marked on package.) Do NOT forget to pack your cocking ropes, extra strings, arrows, extra WASP tips, and your string replacement tool.

  • Thanks!

  • Good morning Freedompalmbay!

I do have a question...Since it is not a compound crossbow, is it easy to change the string when it gets worn out by yourself or does it have to be pressed by a professional?

    Thanks

  • There is a trick to replacing the string and it is on Ecalibus FAQ web page. I have replaced the string in the field with help from a fellow hunter. Yes...it was a pain the way we did it. I have not tried the Excalibur preferred method. I would recommend removing the string after the season is over, allowing the arms to rest, and then taking it to a professional shop to have it pressed and new string out on. Do this each season IMHO. - Bill

  • If you transporting the Excalibur crossbow you are better off disassembling the crossbow (A few screws) and packing it away in a gun case. They do NOT fit the Plano Crossbow case. Their cases are too small.

  • wow.. looks sick with all the bolts on it,

is it possible to hunt with an anti-tank gun?

  • NOOOO ..... the biggest cal that people use to hunt is ..... the 416 berret ....some people even hunt with .50s with the right bullets...to hunt big game at long distances

  • LOL 0:51 hhaha. it can kill almost anything that you hunt DEER, BEER pigs, hogs. for example LOL!

  • hey freedom i want to use the 100gr muzzy broadhead but excalibur required that u use their boltcutter of 150gr can you tell me how are those wasp heads workingout for u and what grain are u using

  • Wasp tips work fine. I use them on deer in Georgia as well as the big bucks in the mid-west.

  • @freedompalmbay

Wasps are awesome. 4 kills with them. Tried some NAPs bloodrunners thsi year adn love them also.

  • Bow season in Georgia is right around the corner. I have completed my scouting and placed my stands. If you have a crossbow be VERY careful. It only takes three pounds of trigger pressure to unlease a razor tipped bolt. Last season, early morning, without any coffee in my system I almost sent a bolt through my leg. It was a stupid mistake but never the less it almost cost me. Lesson learned...these things do in fact kill and you must be very careful and awake while hunting. Cheers!

  • you cant use one in illinois

  • if u realy wont to hunt like a man use a rpg!!!

  • You cant even get a RPG dee-dee-dee

  • i think they look better than a gun [ my personal apinion is they look realy smart and powerful love the scope on it and the camo all the arrows on it ++++++++++ love it

  • I was going to buy an exocet 200 but then I saw the phoenix is $100 cheeper, it only shoots 30fps slower and it is 25lb lighter to cock. The biggest thing I would be Hunting is Black Bear, is the phoenix good enough for the job?

  • yeah. definately. but to tell you the truth i would get a barnett predator because it shoots 375 FPS and its only $580 on ebay.

  • curious how much more powerful a exomax is, if u could just SHOOT the bow. compared to a lowly 150lbs barnett. watch my vid! cheers

  • Cus they are quiet fun and awesome

  • most ppl think crossbows and bows are humane guns arent

  • hey OP,

i have barnett wildcat 150lbs-9in powerstroke - 220fps crossbow, 1/3 of kinetic energy compared to yours. i can cock easily.. it penetrates around 600pgs thru a phonebook, and DENTS up to 1100pgs.

im seriously considering exomax/equinox with 225lb/16.5inch powerstroke just due to sheer addiction for power!/perhaps big game.

would your bow be lot harder to cock?

kinetic energy is around 100lbs/same as high powered 22s?

lastly, big favor, can you do some phonebook pentration tests?

  • Greetings! American Hunter date July 2009 has a great article on bow speed. The title is called "The truth about Bow Speed" and it covers the pros and cons of bow speed and why it does and does not matter in certain circumstances. In short the faster the bow speed the flatter the trajectory to the target. When shooting through a small brush opening this can make all the difference out to 40 yards or further.

  • im just wondering is a 150lb cross bow worth buying im just starting it shoots 200 yards at 220 flp also what is dry fire and what do you do to stop dry fire cose i hear in a video dont dry fire

  • shooting without an arrow/bold is dry firing

to stop it dont shoot without an arrow/bolt

  • Most 150 pd crossbows claim to be accurate out to 65 yards. Most of my shots are under 50 yards or most likely 25 yards due to brush, low hanging branches, etc. If you are target shooting or hunting this would be okay. As previously mentioned dry firing is firing without a bolt. You do NOT want to do this with any bow.

  • cheers mate that has helped me as i only just started to look into crossbows :)

  • it'll break your bow limbs.

  • @stevoalderman

Don't laugh. Put tape on your limbs were you can see it when your cocking and shooting your now and then right in big bold letters something that makes you remember to out a bolt on the rail.

  • Post your crossbow video response! Take a moment and post your video response displaying your crossbow, tips, tricks, and any safety issues. We would love to see YOUR crossbow whether home made or store bought.

  • freedom just bought my excalibur equinox all camo

  • Excellent!!

  • Very nice crossbow ... but is kind of expensive for me. I was kind of thinking of an Barnett Predator or something around 500 - 600$ can you give me a advice?

  • Try the mid-line variety of Excalibur which fall into that price margin. Also, check into Ebay. With regard to Excalibur's competition check for quality such as metal verses plastic and compound verses recurve. I prefer the more simple the better. If you forgo scope, case, extra bolts, sling, etc. you could get a high end bow within that price range or a mid-level bow with all the bells and whistles.

  • Hmm ... didn't tough to look on e-bay. Here in Romania we don't have shops where we can find crossbows ... only if we make a online order. So thanks for the advice I will search on e-bay :D cheers.

    P.S. I'll tell you what I bought :P

  • the exomax is a great crossbow

  • hey freedom have question? the way thing are right now with our economy, i am thinking of buying and american made product. i was thinking of maybe buying the hurricane crossbow from parker, it seem like it a good american product . excalibur look to big for a tree stand, or to store away in the house just to big!!!!!!

  • parker is ok. if you want a good crossbow get excalibur or tenpoint. they are the best. excalibur make very nice bows for a decent price. the excalibur phoenix is 175lb draw weight and is smaller than the one in the video. the one in the video is the exomax i think and yes it's big. not all models are the same size, i'm sure you'll find one that suits your needs.

  • Actually, I have seen some very good home made crossbows out in the mid-west. For example, one of my uncles out in Nebraska purchased a rather crude home made cross bow. Nothing special...probably 50 to 70 pounds draw weight yet he has killed several deer from tree stands. If in the mid-west check the farmers auctions for great buys or trades.

He is disabled and allow to use the bow.

  • there always and asshole with and stupid comment good video freedom. i am getting the same crossbow in september!!!! i live in new jersey now is legal here

  • Interesting comment. I suppose you go by first appearance the first time you meet or see someone. Shame, because that leads to stereotypes. Actually, I am an engineer and hold two degrees working for a communications company. And your point was?

  • I like my Equinox a lot, except that it's pretty loud. It doesn't matter if you hit the deer on the first shot, but forget about a second chance.

  • Yes, that is a con with crossbows. One shot is about it due to the noise. Better make it count.

  • I shoot cheap walmart (allen brand) broadheads and i heads pass throughs with all my deer and they stay sharp for a long time.

  • is there a 120 pound crossbow because i have a bow thats 120 pound :D

  • ha bill its me again just saying that i love the sport but I dont hunt anything nor do i want to LOL

  • um freedompalmbay i really wanted to ask what drawback pressure should a stron 12 year old get because I was at canadian tire an i saw a very good quality bow with 30 pound of drawback should i get it?

  • What are objectives? To target shoot or understand the mechanics behind crossbows then why not. Also, it depends on how much you have to spend. Check your wallet, your goals, try out the bow, then make an objective decision. Cheers.

  • You should get a good quality bow with either a cocking rope or a winch system, that'll help you cock it.

  • thanks for posting this!

  • waw great crossbow man, it is my dreams bow.

  • did it cost 1000 dolars or less

  • The crossbow itself was around 700 dollars. I then bought an illuminated sight, soft bag, target, extra bolts, and string. Ring it all up and it came in around a grand.

  • what mod is that mate?

  • I have the Equinox. Not sure about the version. The crossbow itself was purchased in 2007. I hope to use it turkey hunting this spring.

  • whats the draw string lbs? thanks

  • 225 lb.

  • and is that the power behind the bolt also? my skeleton shank bow is 150lbs draw string

  • i am using a horton hunter 175, its heavy as hell so i installed a harris bipod underneath. how heavy is the excalibur and what is the stock made of?

  • Hmmm, I would say between 10 and 15 pounds? Like anything it feels heavier the longer you hold it in front of you. The stock is probably some sort of man made resin. The only thing I would change are the screws. They are NOT stainless steel or weather resistant. I have to clean off the oxidation on a regular basis.

  • Forgot to ask...what is a Harris bipod?

  • How much did you exactly pay for that bow? Ty for the vid btw.

  • The bow went for around 700 if you include tax. I spent close to 1000 to include the crossbow, block, scope, cover, and bolts.

  • k thanks

  • Happy New Year to all you new crossbow owners!! Be safe, enjoy your time in the woods, cultivate those special relationships, and above all respect and protect our natural resources. God Bless.

  • thanks for the video. i bought an equinox last year and took it to oklahoma and killed a deer & turkey with it. it's just a great crossbow ! couldn't ask for anything better.

  • Try Nebraska around the city of Fairbury. OMG they have flocks of turkeys numbering over 50 plus. It is amazing the turkeys along the Little Blue river and the Big Sandy. Yes, it is a great crossbow!

  • What kind of excalibur crossbow is that? Im buying a excalibur exomax and going on a deer hunt next season and Im wondering if I should buy the exomax or phoenix for the hunt?.

  • I have the Equinox. The Phoenix would be easier on the wallet and probably just as effective under 40 yards. Also, consider using any savings from the purchase to buy a climber or any accessories such as insulated clothing, rental car, carrying case (metal, not softcase) for the plane trip, or extra luggage fees when transporting the meat back home. Good luck and be careful. ALWAYS keep the safety on when not scoping a target. The trigger pull is 3 pds.

  • @Alex88909

I have a vortex. it's a modle below the Equinox and is still deadly at 40+ yards

  • Nice vid.

  • Thanks for the video!!

Anxiously awaiting the arrival of my Equinox

  • Good Luck. Invest some time into discovering the animals patterns. Proper stand location, or point of interception, coupled with a great crossbow leads to success. I have choosen locations that I thought would be productive only to see the animal crossing at a different point 100 yards away. Just the same time in the woods and being with friends is the REAL reason we should hunt. A full cooler is a bonus. :-)

  • Happy Thanksgiving,

This year has shown me how much friends and family mean to me. I wish you all a special Thanksgiving holiday and Christmas season. With the economic challenges ahead of us and our great nation perspective is even more important these days. Take care of what matters most to you, feed those relationships, value your friends, and above all be thankful for what you have.

    Cheers,

    Bill Monroe

  • you are right ...It is a little heavy and awkward . I bought a double stand so i would have the room to place the bow when nit in action . I feel the pros far out weight the cons with this bow though . Last week just before dusk I took a real nice eight point from 30 yards . The bolt went clean through and the deer only went about 50 yards and dropped . I do love this bow !!! with our shotgun season only being one week in southern Ontario it is definitely my primary weapon

  • A double stand is a good move. It allows for movement and also space to sit the bow when relaxing or adjusting. Hunting from a climber with a crossbow is very awkward and having to reload would be a challange. I am surprised Ontario is shotgun vice rifle. I suppose the area is populated with houses thus limiting the projectiles distance. Bow season means less hunters and more thinking on stand selection. It becomes a matter of thinking through the hunt vice picking a stand at random.

  • In Canada we use crossbows not only to hunt deer and turkey but also to take bear elk and moose .

  • That would be exciting to take a larger animal given a fair chase opportunity. All thou I only shoot what we can eat. I would certainly require an additional freezer for an animal that size. Enjoy your wonderful outdoors of Canada. :-)

  • Great C/bow ! Incredible power! Hunting with Bows & C/bows in S Africa has become very popular in some places

A few of my friends have become pro hunters just to take you Americans out trophy hunting.

Anyway I was wondering -Do Americans only shoot deer & pig ?

Id like to see the Excalibur drop 1 of those monster bisen you guys get there.

    But happy hunting

    Cheers

  • The trips may drop off due to the economy. I would not look to big expensive executive hunting trips for the next year or so. I am sure some folks do hunt bison but those are probably private hunts or limited quota hunts. Maybe some day. :-)

  • nice xbow

  • Thanks...looking to use it this December in some of the more space restricted stands in the woods.

  • how heavy is that crossbow, and how long from stock to limb.

  • Currently I am in Virginia scouting areas for hunting so no access to the bow. The crossbow is somewhat heavy probably weighing in around 20 pounds. Maybe more...maybe a ittle less. The crossbow feals solid but awkward in the stand when having to move it about to angle for a shot. I do like the power it presents but could shoot a smaller crossbow in space restricted stands. Accuracy?? Very accurate out to 50 yards!

  • @freedompalmbay

I use mine in my Viper climber all the time and have no problems at all with weight or width of the limbs.

  • I just bought the exact bow from Bass Pro in Toronto . I live only minutes from where the excalibur xbow is made . I am looking forward to tomorrow morning hunting for white tail . I will let you know how i make out

  • How did you do??

  • i have the excaliber phenix and i love all the fetures of it wich model is that?

  • It is the Excalibur Equinox. This weekend I will be giving it a go in the woods of Georgia. Hopefully the bugs will not be to bad. I have a bug suit and a thermacell so I should be pretty well protected.

  • What is the maximum effective range of your crossbow for deer? I shoot a compound bow out to about 60 yards. I wouldn't take a shot out farther than that because I don't feel confident in hitting the vitals and the arrow slows down and may not penetrate far enough. Would you feel confident in shooting a crossbow at targets farther than that?

  • There is an old saying that goes "just because you can does not mean you should." Crossbows can go out to 60 yards and beyond but an ethical shot would be dependent upon skill, line of sight, and other factors. Saying that I would restrict my shots to under 50 yards.

  • hello yes horton has a web page and i have it sited in using a range finder im thinking about geting a new one a 225 lbs one from horton it shoot around 350 thanks

  • hello i use a hortin yukon sl crossbow at 260ft the best than they ever did is make the die range on it and i use a 3/9 by 50 scope iv killed 20 deer with it over the years some all the way at 80 yards

  • 80 yards is a great shot given the range. Did you estimate the range, use a rangefinder, or some other device to calculate the ballistics. I'm not famaliar with the "Die range" you mention. Do you have a web page that illustrates? Thanks.

  • Bow season starts in September in Georgia. I am excited about hitting the woods and hanging out with the guys. It should be fun.

  • Note to Excalibur: If management is watching this I would suggest using stainless steel hardware throughout the manufacturing of the crossbow. I have no issues with the crossbow itself other than some of the hardware shows signs of rust when exposed to the elements. I do clean the bow itself after every use but stainless steel nuts would prevent corrosion. Suggest implementing the change with the next revision. Also, hollow out the butt end and create a small storage unit with lid.

  • cheers m8

  • I visited England on several occasion and was amazed at the number of pheasants in the fields and along the roads. I understand England is pretty conservative on hunting/guns so perhaps only those with land and able to pay for expensive licenses actually hunt. Does England have wildlife management areas open to hunters? Also, amazing was the size of the rabbits in the midlands area. Wow, some looked to be around 10 pounds.

  • yes im from the south of the midlands and we have loads of rabbits and pigeons to shoot great fun ,but we must not say this as we cant shoot for fun we have to do it for vermin control!!!!!!!!!

  • thay breed pheasants for the upper class shoots can cost anything from $400 to$4000 a day,if you have a look on the web at BASC its everything to do with hunting in the uk ,we cant use bows to hunt, there is farmers out there that do day shoots and rough shooting for rabbits pigeons this can cost anything from $80 UPWARDS,there is also duck, geese, partage, deer, ext ext ,were ever you stay at in the uk ask the and thay should be able to set some thing up

  • hi nice crossbow ,how far can it shoot and wat distance is it accret out to ,in the uk we cant hunt with them but i could take it over the rifle range for a bit of fun

  • It is extremely accurate. On three occasions I put one bolt into the back of another at 20 yards splitting the back end of the shaft. I normally shoot at 40 yards using the "block" as a backstop. The block consists of layers of fabric compressed together in the form of a block. Friction stops the bolt. I would not use hay bales as the bolts go completely through and continue until they hit something else. On one occasion it went through a bale and embedded itself in the back of my fence.

  • There are several views on hunting. From a hunters viewpoint we hunt for sport, friendship, and eat what we kill. Every deer and hog I have killed has ended up in my freezer and feeds my family of five and my 85 year old parents. The deer population in Georgia has grown from 65K in 1962 to over 1.3 million in 2007. Why? Hunters have set aside land, planted food plots, and left land alone to provide shelter for young deer.
