  • Few tips my friend,

    1. Your parkzone motor is too big. Get the motor according with the fuselage weight with the electronics.

    2. If you can get 5g nylon sevos, much better

    3. Build a long rectangular fuselage with dihedral angle where you can glue the wing and use to mount your motor at the same time. I hope my comment help you!! Good luck.

  • @MrRican34 Thanks for the tips on the PBF. How is the motor too big? You can never have too much power. I've positioned the engine more toward the center for balance. I do worry the plastic gears on servos will strip trying to move the larger heavier flaps. I'll probably need a stronger servo with more durable gears. The fun thing is that my PBF is much larger and more powerful than any I've ever seen on YouTube. This is my first of many DIY planes. More sophisticated aircraft to follow.

  • @patcoston good luck with your project . Im want to see the results.

  • For my wing, I just have two servos. One right and one left. The 3 pin servo wires I plug one into elevator and the other into aileron on the ar500. This is then powered by a battery box. On my dx5e I put mixing to up, on. I'll try and video it later and post it so you can see what I mean, as I'm not the best at explaining myself.

  • I think the AR500 is a good choice.

  • Seems to have everything your using other than the receiver?? Just wondering cos I used a spektrum ar500 in my flying wing home build and that supports flaperon mixing along with my spektrum dx5e. I also use these for my corsair. :-)

  • @matticous10 I'm using the Spektrum SPMAR500 AR500 DSM2 5-Channel Sport Receiver but the local hobby shop guy told me it didn't support flap mixing. Here I was considering fronterons or my own invention which I call eleverons which are ailerons on an elevator. There would be one flap in back for the elevator. On the flap would be two more flaps and servos for the ailerons. How crazy is that? I might have to place the motor in the middle for balance I think since mine is so long.

  • @patcoston Ive added a video to my channel that shows what I was trying to explain earlier. It shows the eleverons working in the way you describe using the Spektrum AR500 and a Spektrum DX5E by mixing which your hobby guy said it wouldnt.. Hope the vid helps and any questions please let me know hopefully save you time and keeps it less technical. The wing im showing on was my first build and still very much learning.

  • @matticous10 We both have the same controller and receiver so how do you get flaperon mixing to work???

  • What receiver are you using?? Look forward to seeing how this turns out.

  • @matticous10 I've added a link in the description to the receiver I'm using. All components are from the ParkZone F4U Corsair.

  • @CarlosHobbyRC I think I've made a mistake with the flaps. I should have done 25% for each aileron and 50% with the elevator so that the ailerons have 50% and the elevator has 50% so there is some balance. I can always extend the ailerons beyond the edge which I will try to do. I wonder if my servos are strong enough to move these much larger heavier flaps. If not, I'll have to cut them to be smaller. Things will get much more exciting with my next VTOL RC. I love the V22 Osprey.

  • @CarlosHobbyRC How will I balance the PBF? Since I'm attempting a PBF that is longer than any I've ever seen on YouTube or in person, I do have a balance problem due to the limit of the ESC cables to the engine. Even when stretched, it puts most of the weight in the front. My ideas are (1) get ESC extension cables (2) Move the prop back further (3) Add ballast to the back. Do you have any ideas? The PBF I am attempting is much larger, longer and more powerful than anything I have ever seen.

  • How are you going to balance it?

  • @CarlosHobbyRC I just realized that YouTube supplies a Reply button. This whole time I've typing @CarlosHobbyRC myself. Have you been getting my replies?

  • @patcoston , yes, I have been getting your replies. I value them!

  • I look forward to following this project.
