It's obvious that the main reason Ronna went pop was because country radio refused to play her music. I don't believe she really was "forced" to sing country; I think she needed a reason to justify why she was abandoning it. Her voice is actually much more suited to country than pop, though I love her pop album, too. She now runs a song plugging and writer management firm in Nashville. Sad that she never again wants to make music, and has opted for the other side of the business.
Ronna Reeves had one thing that Shania Twain never had on her side and that is a leagendary last name in country music made so by the man that was said to be Ronnas Grandfather and that is one thing Shania or any of even the newer ladies can say.
Whatever Ronna may have lacked in vocal ability as far as having too thin a voice... she more than made up for that in her ability to project raw emotion better than most commercialized country singers.
If anyone who has The video for What if Your Wrong and Rodeo Man and Collect From Wichita..please post them on You Tube and Whoever posted the videos for the japan concert..if there is anymore please post them...
I went to jr high school with her in San Angelo, TX 1979-80. She has a great voice. I believe she went to pop music saying she had been forced into doing country and is now doing things her way. She had many good songs from her first 2 albums also.
Gotta believe if she married Mutt Lange, she'd have been in the same position today as you know who. Even a better singer than Shania. Mind boggling how she didnt make it bigger
What ever happened to her? I agree that she was so amazing and underrated! I was just looking up info on her and decided to order her last cd produced by Peter Cetera, warning its more pop.
Ronna is gorgeous and always picked great songs but in my honest opinion she was never going to be anything more than a standout on the statler brothers hour. she simply never had the voice to compete with Patty Loveless, Trisha Yearwood, and certainly can't compare with those of today, Jo Dee Messina, Faith Hill, etc.
she just has too thin and shaky a voice.
which was made even more evident by the two horrible rock albums she did when her country career ended.
This particular song yeah, but she sounds stronger in her other songs. I think with time and the right opportunities she would've been right up there with the others. Just my opinion though. :)
I'd never heard of Ronna until I heard her duet "S.O.S." with Peter Cetera in 1995. She should've been a much bigger star cuz she's got one of the best voices i've ever heard & is Gorgeous beyond words.
I was a big fan back when she was on CMT and the radio. If anyone has two videos by her, could you put them on please. They are: The More I Learn(The Less I Understand About Love) and Rodeo Man. At least I think that is what the vids were named. Thanks!
thank you for this video. I love her music. I have her after the dance cd. I'm still looking for the others. I love her music it's sad that country music didn't accept her. I'll always be a fan from Guam

Me too. I don't know why she didn't make it much bigger. I have her first couple of CDs and like listening every so often. Fantastic voice.
