Were we to be able to hear the Earth's voice, as if to hear that of another Human being, none would be sane, for we would hear the screams of unfathomable suffering at our hands.
@Kemonokami i wish deidre and the gaian faction were real. i'd join them. they remind me of the ALF and ELF. primitivist veganarchy is what humanity should be striving for. not this materialist, individualist dearth we have currently which is destroying the planet and causing unethical suffering to all forms of animal life.
Anarcho-syndicalist here, comrade! Ok, so I still support industry as legitimate, but I think cutting away consumerist values and decentralizing production would go a long way in helping the environment.
Primitivist veganarchy is what humanity should be striving for? So, approximately 80% of humanity should strive for death by starvation... cool idea, bro. Trying to do away with industrialised agriculture and mechanised mass transport is nothing else but attempted genocide.
@Magni56 is that your expert opinion? if that number comprises solely of meme users then in the words of the Khmer Rouge: "To keep you is no benefit. To destroy you is no loss."
Expert opinion? No, it's the fucking facts. How do you think you're going to feed cities with populations numbering in the millions without modern agriculture and transport? Advances in those categories are what made current population densities logistically possible.
And now you're openly embracing one of the worst group of sociopathic mass-murderers of the 20th century. Thanks for showing just what kind of sociopathic fucktard you are.
@Magni56 please stop wasting my time with your pseudo-logic. modern agriculture was just one of a few things which made our unsustainable population possible. "if a worthless kulak dies, does anyone care?" modern capitalist society is simply violence and intimidation to maintain a hierarchy. iraq, vietnam/laos/cambodia, the west's imperialist foreign policy to serve it's own interests supporting undemocratic regimes and dominance in the rest of the world. myopic hypocrite.
PSeudoi-logic? Stop projecting your faults on other people. Also, our "unsustainable" population is anything but. In fact, rationalisation and use of modern technology on a large scale could very well make five times our current population sustainable, and that's before space colonisation.
As for your "worthless kulak": What happens if YOU are that worthless kulak, eh? Guess your despicable genocide fantasy isn't so much fun anymore in that case.
As for your railing agianst "capitalist society": Your proposed solution makes it look like fluffy bunnies. Your "solution" requires genocideon a sclae that'd make Hitler blanch followed by the brutal and complete oppression of the survivors. Because without these, your delusional bullshit won't ever work, given that it completely contradicts human nature. HYpocrite? The only one hereis you, in your open support for the worst mass murderers of history.
@Magni56 "human nature" lolz. did someone say 'dogma'? i hate dogma. there is no such thing as human nature. an individual has free will and can change it's behaviour, therefore a group can change it's behaviour. which makes the idea of intrinsic human nature, erroneous, wow, you are delusional. google 'bbc planet ecological debt', 'footprint network living planet report 2010' which states that we are already using 50% more of the earth's resources than it can renew.
Dogma? No, just someone taking a fucking look at psychology and history. Of course, not that that's something someone as completely blinded by brainless ideology like you could ever comprehend.
Your empty rethorics are handily and completely debunked by every last case in history where that kind of wishful thinking was put to the test.
As for the rest of your claims? A cheap BBC eco reportage? That's your source? Sorry, but a cheap TV reportage is sorhtless drivel in the face of the overwhelming majority of the worlds scientific community. Efficient use of resources today would allow several times as many people to live on Earth, easily. And space colonisation is something people living today might very much witness in their lifetimes.
@Magni56 lol you are hilariously dumb, stop wasting my time and get a clue. firstly the BBC is a reliable source of news, secondly it is citing other people's data, they are not it's own finding you dimwit, LOL. srsly. p.s i love how you continue to gibber as if saying something makes it so "oh yes by 2020 we'll all be millionaires and everyone will be happy and blah blah blah, no i don't need citations! lololz!" sorry, but to debate intellectually you need more than endless opinions/bullshit.
As for your anarchist bullshit: We've seen how well anarchy works on a national level. Somalia sure is an utopia, right? Hope you don't mind the constant civil war, general lawlessness and crushing poverty. Because that's what your beloved anarchy results in in practice.
@Magni56 again your ignorance is displayed for all to behold. according to dictionary com and countless others the political definition of anarchy is: "3.
a theory that regards the absence of all direct or coercive government as a political ideal and that proposes the cooperative and voluntary association of individuals and groups as the principal mode of organized society." clearly if you have a different tyrantss coercing you at the barrel of a fucking gun that is an authority, not anarchy.
@Magni56 how about you get informed about a subject before you regurgitate the next fallacy you've picked up through half-assed gleanings off tv or off some arsehole friend and save me having to debunk your worthless statements? imbecile.
I've always felt Alpha C was the best of the Civ games, ideological divisions just made much more sense and gave you a much better sense of identity. My personal tastes supported playing as The Hive.
The hive?!? im curious to know what kinda person you are.. thats my 3rd least favorite. I always go consciousness cybernetics for superior tech and intellectual elite. I get green and democracy right off to make up for growth and adapting to planet.... I freakn love this game!
Research rate cant match or beat his industrial power, he can win easily through either base building or conquest. Also on the highest difficultly level, every citizen from the second onwards is a drone, and the Hive being immune to innefficiency can run Police State for +2 police, along with planned and wealth for +3 industry, and with a childrens creche in every city they still have +2 efficiency per base.
And also for warmongering, they come out more powerful than either the Believers or Spartans because of how much faster they can build their troops - In any AI fight between the Hive and any other Faction, the Hive always wins easily.
@Kirbywasfun Green economy lowers your growth by 2(unless they changed that in the expansion) so democracy as government really only gives you +2 Efficiency and -2 support ;P
I like playing as the Gaians because Lady Deidre can use the alien lifeforms as great additions to their military power. Even adapting military units with telepathic attacking capabilities and being a Gaian gives a huge advantage against any other military units, transcending their technological superiority. I always won using the Gaians.
Gains used to be my favorite until I got expansion. Aki Zeta 5 consciousness cybernetics can get the planet ecology 3(gaian tech) really quick through secrets of human brain. Its like playing with gaians only faster research. I go democracy quick to make up for growth.
I always think that this secret project isn't a building but more like it represents your factions early understanding of Alpha Centauri's own ecosystem.
@tuktuktok ALL cut-scenes with real-action pats are from "Baraka". All secret projects are from "Baraka" (Ascetic Virtues are great editing, as they combine original scenes and the sliding door scene is revamped from the film into animation).
The only thing I'm not 100% sure is intro. It contains many scenes from "Baraka", but I'm not sure if all are from same source.
