I've played through this game I would guess around 100 times, and probably 4 out of 5 of those were with the Game Genie. Back before PSone there was just something so addictive and cathartic about. Bought it used, so I didn't get a manual, took awhile to realize the blue powerups were worth 3 red and forever to figure out those stars give you 5K. the worst part was on the final mission, wasting all my weapons on the carrier and realizing it was just a mid boss.

Mostly, it's the fact that any pilot you choose can fly any plane, and after the first stage you get to pick the order you want to play the stages in.

Each pilot in the arcade version can fly only one plane, and you have to play the stages in order.

My brother and I had this crazy idea of taking the SNES controller and sharing it so that one person would concentrate on shooting and the other would fly. It was an idea that actually worked! We could never sucessfully beat the game until we did that. Funny looking back on it but I guess we acted like a pilot/copilot team, and we kicked some major A.... Awesome Game.

actually we shared the standard SNES controller that comes with the system. Its a little akward at first but once u get used to it, its alot of fun. :)

Actually it is, in fact, it was originally called Area 88 in Japan, then when it came to the US in the arcade and on Super Nintendo, it was retitled to UN Squadron.
