So true, lol Christina Aguilera has nothing on most of the female artists. Even thought Whitney did the best job, the only person that could compare to her is Beyonce's American Anthem. But Whitney was still better. Christina, I think it's time to give up.
They should just use this recording from now on, do without all these fools butchering the anthem like Mary J Blige at All Stars last week or Christina's attempt last year. Whitney did it best, pre-recorded or not, she blew everyone away forever.
Pre Recorded or not! This version is the best one performed since her's in 1991! It dosen't matter to me because everybody can't help, but say, "Do you remember Whitney Houston's National Anthem for Superbowl 25?" We're preparing for Superbowl 47, and Whitney's is still on point to this day! That alone speaks volumes! I'm not going to dwell on some moron crying if it was pre recorded or not! Respect that womans accomplishments and stop hating!
I hear rumors all over the place that this was prerecorded. I think it was just a nasty rumor started because some people were jealous of how good this was and was tired of people praising it. At first I thought " Maybe it's recorded" but now looking closely at the video, there is no way someone can lip sink that good. Even her tongue was in sink with the sound perfectly at 1:24 "gaaaaaaaaaallantly streaming". The lipsync is too perfect to be recorded. Even if it was it's still her amazing voice
@DeoxysDNA 1) it is a FACT that it was pre-recorded. They never denied that. 2) Back then they were NOT pre-recorded, and many still don't. How do you think Christina flubbed the Anthem last year if it was pre-recorded?
@HogCall Back then a lot of them were pre-recorded. It's POLICY to pre-record them just in case. Even if they don't even use the recording. Why does it matter anyways? It's still her voice nonetheless. The way she sung it was beautiful. Now that I researched it, it wasn't even her call to make. Someone else didn't believe in her and wanted to use the recording. Saying that " it was too risky". Doesn't change the fact that we enjoyed her rendition the best.
@DeoxysDNA I was just saying that of course it was "Flawless", it was pre-recorded. You were the one arguing the facts. BTW, the "risky" part of her rendition was changing the timing (not if it was pre-recorded or not), and she liked the new timing.
33 people are tone deaf! Whitney did her thang. That's the voice we all fell in love with and all wanted to be like! The standard was raised at that very performance!
No one has been able to sing the national anthem like Whitney did & no one ever will. Her voice was like Michael Jordan was to basketball, Like Pele was to Soccer. always imitated never duplicated. Whitney was the voice of all voices. I have been blessed because i was born in a lifetime when I got to hear the greatest talent that god have shared with us. Thank you Whitney for 30 yrs of greatness. I will miss you and I will always love you.
Her death was no question a satanic satanic sacrifice as nr 2 of the three this month. Death of Cornelius (soul train host) Whitney H. and nr 3 was Gary Carter, Hall of Famer for baseball. They kill 3 at a time by Nihilist to sacrifice to the occult world Lucifer/Satan. Eastern Stars know all about this. FACT.
Absolutely beautiful--Whitney whatever trials and tribulations that you went thorough in your life, don't matter--your voice was a gift from God, and you touched a lot of peoples hearts...RIP
Not just flawless, but effortless. It was like she just hopped up there, did it, and hopped straight back down again. True vocal genius. RIP Whitney, love forever xx
She set an unbeatable precedent ........I've never heard another even come close, nor do I think it likely that anyone else could sing it with the passion and beauty that Whitney Houston did. This is one day that I have remembered and will remember till the day I die. It is a historical moment for me.
i spent the last few minutes hearing different versions of the american anthem (and i'm not even american) and the only one getting close to this flawless performence is Beyonce, but yet Whitneys voice was deeper and sweeter. it seemed as if she sang with no effort at all
It's even more impressive when you put it into context. At the time our nation was in midst of the biggest escalation of the Mariah Carey / Whitney Houston vocal gymnastics wars of the early nineties. For her to sing a straight up version of the National Anthem was both gutsy and awesome.
I'm not american but this should be the only version allowed to be played in official ceremonies involving the US ! it is just breathtaking wow Whitney you are missed deeply
I'm not American nor lived in US. I maybe biased because I'm a fan but c'mon guys she's the best and fits this song. Though I'm not American I feel I'm proud. Thank you Whitney...love you forever...................................
I'm not American but listening to the fervor and passion in Whitney's rendition of the Star Spangled Banner makes me feel like I could slay dragons. I'm lucky that I was able to experience the wonderful gift of her voice in my lifetime. Rest in peace, Whitney.
She was right up there with the likes of Garland, Sinatra, Streisand and her godmother Aretha. RIP, Whitney -- people with love in their hearts (and a love of great music) will remember you always.
Such talent only comes once in a blue moon this was our moment to see such a talented lady, someone who can sing without missing a note and sang from her heart. you will be miss my lady by so may of us now go rest and be with the angels, it's time for you to sing to them now, we had out once in a blue moon, didn't we .

Whitney singing the National Anthem, then and now still gives me goose bumps, and tears to my eyes. This heavenly creature didn't just sing! She interpreted and lived the song involved fully in emotion and sentiment. Look at her face. Her eyes, her expression. She does not worry about her singing...she just lets her voice and emotions project to the rest of us in pure enjoyment. We have never seen, and it will be an inprobable future, the time we will ever experience such a unique performer.
she made me believe in the song...she had so much love in her heart, that it showed on her face..and reached my soul as an american, and hello....i'm from cuba!......honestly never really paid attention to it till she sang it...it was just what was done at sport events, after her i always tuned in to just see who can do it better than her....and till this very day no one has!!!
@guandarria2011 haha chill out! its a fact that she was lip synching...andddd she died by taking too many prescription drugs in a beverly hills hotel room...i mean snap out of it
@jwb63095 And you were there, were you? Well, call off the lab tests now cos the Oracle called jwb63095 has spoken! She wasn't lip synching either. You know nothing. Zero. Zilch. You must be so talentless you have to come on here trying to bash a legend!
@guandarria2011 It's a well know fact it's a lip sync,it's still whitney giving a brilliant rendition,that's all that matters as it's still her voice.RIP
In 1991, a lot of people still hadn't heard of Whitney, but after this performance in the Superbowl, EVERYBODY knew her and people demanded her rendition of the National Anthem on record. That was a first. Patriotism was blaring out of home & car speakers with Whitney's voice. It was amazing. She's in a catagory all by herself. Untouchable. R.I.P.
Oh I missed her alright wit my glock, Where dat bitch at anyways. I no she hid my shit. Whitney I gunna kicks your ass so bad when you get home. signed Bobby
@Desha30able ?!? I'm disrespectful !?! Thats the way Bobby treated her and I'm disrespectful. I think she had a amazing gift and was very impressed by her rendition.
Oh by the way you want to be respectful, look up the subject matter of what she was singing about before you run out and vote for O'bama again.
How ironic that off all her pop songs she in my heart will most be remembered for this rousing, inspirational rendition of our National Anthem. Not only does it bring on the goose bumps but it moves you to tears. Cant touch this!
Absolutely moving, moved to tears. RIP lady and thoughts and prayers for your daughter and family. The world lost a star and the heavens gained one of the brightest.
@Venkman007 do you not know that whitney is dead like how can you say some fucked up ass bull shit like that Rest in Peace Whitney you will always be remembered as a great singer

she made me believe in the song...she had so much love in her heart, that it showed on her face..and reached my soul as an american, and hello....i'm from cuba!......honestly never really paid attention to it till she sang it...it was just what was done at sport events, after her i always tuned in to just see who can do it better than her....and till this very day no one has!!!

Desha30able 3 weeks ago
@Desha30able ?!? I'm disrespectful !?! Thats the way Bobby treated her and I'm disrespectful. I think she had a amazing gift and was very impressed by her rendition.
Oh by the way you want to be respectful, look up the subject matter of what she was singing about before you run out and vote for O'bama again.
boingtronic 3 weeks ago
How ironic that off all her pop songs she in my heart will most be remembered for this rousing, inspirational rendition of our National Anthem. Not only does it bring on the goose bumps but it moves you to tears. Cant touch this!
