  • absolutely amazing

  • I'm not even American but i just love how she sang this, love looking at it over n over, so effortlessly.....RIP Whitney

  • Whitney's finest moment..

  • Este video...una gaver en el ojete...:-( haja

  • No one has ever or ever will sing this song like Whitney Houston.

  • So true, lol Christina Aguilera has nothing on most of the female artists. Even thought Whitney did the best job, the only person that could compare to her is Beyonce's American Anthem. But Whitney was still better. Christina, I think it's time to give up.

  • how bizarre is that, that this video was placed on youtube almost a year before passed.

    FANTASTIC RENDITION

  • this anthem was brought to you from heaven by a living goddess living on earth amongst us.

  • Goosebumps .

  • Best interpretation of the National Anthem. No questions asked.

  • They should just use this recording from now on, do without all these fools butchering the anthem like Mary J Blige at All Stars last week or Christina's attempt last year. Whitney did it best, pre-recorded or not, she blew everyone away forever.

  • Pre Recorded or not! This version is the best one performed since her's in 1991! It dosen't matter to me because everybody can't help, but say, "Do you remember Whitney Houston's National Anthem for Superbowl 25?" We're preparing for Superbowl 47, and Whitney's is still on point to this day! That alone speaks volumes! I'm not going to dwell on some moron crying if it was pre recorded or not! Respect that womans accomplishments and stop hating!

    R.I.P. Whitney Houston! XOXO!

  • Amazing !

  • это просто супер!!!!!!!

  • R.I.p she's now a angel singing in the heavens

  • Will God forever hold Ms. Whitney Houston in his everlasting arms...Just BEATUTIFUL!

  • Best version ever!

  • Killed it!

  • Whitney doesn't even have to try... she leaves me in awe. Love you Whit!

  • whooooo....make the eyes water everytime!

  • I hear rumors all over the place that this was prerecorded. I think it was just a nasty rumor started because some people were jealous of how good this was and was tired of people praising it. At first I thought " Maybe it's recorded" but now looking closely at the video, there is no way someone can lip sink that good. Even her tongue was in sink with the sound perfectly at 1:24 "gaaaaaaaaaallantly streaming". The lipsync is too perfect to be recorded. Even if it was it's still her amazing voice

  • @DeoxysDNA 1) it is a FACT that it was pre-recorded. They never denied that. 2) Back then they were NOT pre-recorded, and many still don't. How do you think Christina flubbed the Anthem last year if it was pre-recorded?

  • @HogCall Back then a lot of them were pre-recorded. It's POLICY to pre-record them just in case. Even if they don't even use the recording. Why does it matter anyways? It's still her voice nonetheless. The way she sung it was beautiful. Now that I researched it, it wasn't even her call to make. Someone else didn't believe in her and wanted to use the recording. Saying that " it was too risky". Doesn't change the fact that we enjoyed her rendition the best.

  • @DeoxysDNA I was just saying that of course it was "Flawless", it was pre-recorded. You were the one arguing the facts. BTW, the "risky" part of her rendition was changing the timing (not if it was pre-recorded or not), and she liked the new timing.

  • @HogCall No, they said it would be "risky" to do it live. For whatever reason they proposed to her to use the recorded version.

  • absolutely beautiful!! We will miss you Whitney. I think the best performance of the National Anthem, Ever!! She was such a treasure.

  • no words RIP

  • It was flawless b/c it was pre-recorded.

  • @HogCall are you kidding me? she doesn't have to pre record her voice that girl can sing.

  • @superflyyyy1 I love what she did. But the that she pre-recorded it is a FACT

  • @HogCall All National anthems are prerecorded anyways just in case something happens to the singers voice. It's part of the policy.

  • I'm from London, UK and this brings tears to my eyes, beautiful rendition, the VOICE!! RIP Whitney Elizabeth Houston.

  • R.I.P.

  • Look at the sixth sugestion down wtf

  • The absoulute best version of national anthem ever!!

  • That was so effortless... just beautiful and pure... Rest in paradise Whitney Houston <3

  • 33 people are tone deaf! Whitney did her thang. That's the voice we all fell in love with and all wanted to be like! The standard was raised at that very performance!

  • @ninahhhdreams Incredible voice but what we hear was pre-recorded about a week before and lipsynched.

Whitneys mic (and all the bands mics) were not switched on.

  • omg whitney go on and sing

  • flawless angel of music

  • SUCKS! lolz

  • @baddickagain Troll.

  • @DeoxysDNA

    Fucker.....lolz

  • @baddickagain SHUT UP! lolz

  • @HiAlohiHi

    FUCK YOU! lolzzzzz

  • @baddickagain NO THANKS! lolzzzzz

  • My God..... If nothing else makes you proud to be an American, this will!

  • No one has been able to sing the national anthem like Whitney did & no one ever will. Her voice was like Michael Jordan was to basketball, Like Pele was to Soccer. always imitated never duplicated. Whitney was the voice of all voices. I have been blessed because i was born in a lifetime when I got to hear the greatest talent that god have shared with us. Thank you Whitney for 30 yrs of greatness. I will miss you and I will always love you.

  • She makes it look so easy

  • she sung this SO easy...i can watch it over and over again...

  • r.i.p

  • CHILLS AND WATERY EYES

  • wow! wow! wow! and wow! No singer could ever have a powerful voice as Whitney! The world will miss you.

  • Probably the only artist in history whose Countrys Anthem could also be her signature tune.

After this, Whitney set the bar impossibly high for others who have followed.

  • Great song, great singer...

  • Chills just went up and down my legs.

God only takes the great first.

  • SIMPLY THE BEST TO EVER SING THIS!!!

  • PERFECTION. ABSOLUTE PERFECTION.

  • whoA!

  • Absolutely beautiful--Whitney whatever trials and tribulations that you went thorough in your life, don't matter--your voice was a gift from God, and you touched a lot of peoples hearts...RIP

  • Who the hell dislikes Whitney? Whatever. smh

  • Such a beautiful Amazing voice. Just Amazing. RIP Whitney. You will forever be in our hearts!

  • There are people who try to sing, but she knew how to sing... our hearts go out to her famiily tonight! RIP Whitney.

  • Not just flawless, but effortless. It was like she just hopped up there, did it, and hopped straight back down again. True vocal genius. RIP Whitney, love forever xx

  • R.I.P. We have lost a treasure,....You are gone but not forgotten..Sing with the angels Whitney!!!!!

  • There is no one like you Whitney! You are the best! You will be missed forever! What a great Loss for the whole universe, loosing you!!

  • She set an unbeatable precedent ........I've never heard another even come close, nor do I think it likely that anyone else could sing it with the passion and beauty that Whitney Houston did. This is one day that I have remembered and will remember till the day I die. It is a historical moment for me.

  • Yep she could sing, no question, her voice just brings tears to your eyes!

  • One of the greatest female singers I have EVER heard! There will never be her like again!!

  • (Chills), Whitney is THE VOICE.... SN...... Where are all the black people at the Super Bowl o_o

  • i spent the last few minutes hearing different versions of the american anthem (and i'm not even american) and the only one getting close to this flawless performence is Beyonce, but yet Whitneys voice was deeper and sweeter. it seemed as if she sang with no effort at all

  • OH MY GODDDDDDDDDDDDDD

  • I express the greatest respect to your country which created such moving performance.

    from JAPAN

  • It's even more impressive when you put it into context. At the time our nation was in midst of the biggest escalation of the Mariah Carey / Whitney Houston vocal gymnastics wars of the early nineties. For her to sing a straight up version of the National Anthem was both gutsy and awesome.

  • I'm not american but this should be the only version allowed to be played in official ceremonies involving the US ! it is just breathtaking wow Whitney you are missed deeply

  • The soft portion of her rendition is the most beautiful I have ever heard that portion sung.

  • what dumbass could press dislike?? Knowing there is NOOO WAY in hell it could be better!!!

  • She just opened her mouth and hope sprang out and soared and soared and soared.

  • That voice came straight from HEAVEN!!!!!!!

  • @CheckInTheMirror and now it's back there.

  • this lady my god. she own this song when ever anyone sing this song please look at this and take note's my god im in tears R.I.P. WHITNEY

  • No one has ever, nor will ever touch that rendition. I'd like to see a bitch try.

  • you don't have to be American to love the song ,its the best only w.h CAN DO THAT I DARE ANY OTHER , BUT THEN AGAIN ONLY MISS W.H .

  • I'm not American nor lived in US. I maybe biased because I'm a fan but c'mon guys she's the best and fits this song. Though I'm not American I feel I'm proud. Thank you Whitney...love you forever...................................

  • I'm not American but listening to the fervor and passion in Whitney's rendition of the Star Spangled Banner makes me feel like I could slay dragons. I'm lucky that I was able to experience the wonderful gift of her voice in my lifetime. Rest in peace, Whitney.

  • Chills and a tear everytime.

  • She was right up there with the likes of Garland, Sinatra, Streisand and her godmother Aretha. RIP, Whitney -- people with love in their hearts (and a love of great music) will remember you always.

  • She use to sing so effortless the best female singer ever

  • this is FLAWLESS best version ever!!!!

  • Even though I'm not an american,

but I can feel the feelings she's sending through her songs

    R.I.P

  • Such talent only comes once in a blue moon this was our moment to see such a talented lady, someone who can sing without missing a note and sang from her heart. you will be miss my lady by so may of us now go rest and be with the angels, it's time for you to sing to them now, we had out once in a blue moon, didn't we .

  • "Christina Aguilera take note"

    asfugakdgjhsdgli DEAD

  • To compare other recent or past performances it's unfair. Other singer have different styles. They just can't and won't be able to match Whitney on the National Anthem or any other songs.

Whitney's voice comes once every century.

  • Wow.

  • Absolutely magnificent. Her range and pitch was clean and natural.

  • Listening to her sing this makes me proud to be an American.

  • The Best Version of the National Anthem Ever.

  • Chills

  • HOW SAD 33 PEOPLE WITH NO FREAKING EARS! SMH!

  • go head whitney *cry* miss u already boo

  • brings tears to my eyes.. RIP whitney.... ahhh :(

  • wow ..... voice from heaven

  • She kills it!!

  • An angelic voice has been silenced forever. Rest in peace Whitney!

  • Damn, It'll probably be 50 years before the world has another person with talent like this. Unlike basketball, the music industry is getting worse as far as distributed talent with time.

  • How are you?

  • gave me damn chills man ive never ever in my life heard someone sing that well man that woman had a pair of lungs on her and for the people saying that she was lip ssinging needs to get a fuckin life its quite obvious she is bulting out these lyrics and hitting these notes she will be missed man my heart goes out to bobbi poor baby is all tore up smh

  • Awesome-and she made it look easy! What a talent.

  • Whitney singing the National Anthem, then and now still gives me goose bumps, and tears to my eyes. We were so blessed to have Whitney in our lives, and sharing her God gifted talent, she will be missed as long as there are songs to be sung! Thank You God for sharing one of your Angels, keep her in Your grip, safe from harm.

  • Comment removed

  • You guys are giving opinions as if anyone cares and getting offended as if you're Bobbi Christine (her daughter) just shut up and enjoy the song, dang-it!!! who cares what u have to say anyway? Its not like we're gonna meet each other lol -POINTLESS

  • I just think its rude that whoever uploaded the video said christina take notes... like, really rude

  • RIP Whitney

  • this is so sad. .she was really amazing, what a shame :(

  • Goosebumps.

  • beautiful

  • Watching and listening to this unforgettable moment, I can't help but wonder what Francis Scott Key, who composed The Star-Spangled Banner, might have thought if he could hear what was likely the most profoundly moving rendition of our national anthem ever given. My guess would have to be something like, "What hath God wrought?" Bless you, Whitney, wherever you are.

  • Hers is still the definitive version of our national anthem, imo.

  • way more heart than beyonce know it all

  • Whoever said she is doing lip sync do not know anything bout singing or just so desperate to say something bad out of envy.

And what the hell, Whitney sound so Great!

  • @lizaikeda hate to say it but it was pre recorded but who cares. It's still her voice and a wonderful rendition.

  • Even the cute girl with the mullet at the 1:11 mark knew the lyrics to The Star Spangle Banner.

  • This heavenly creature didn't just sing! She interpreted and lived the song involved fully in emotion and sentiment. Look at her face. Her eyes, her expression. She does not worry about her singing...she just lets her voice and emotions project to the rest of us in pure enjoyment. We have never seen, and it will be an inprobable future, the time we will ever experience such a unique performer.

  • she made me believe in the song...she had so much love in her heart, that it showed on her face..and reached my soul as an american, and hello....i'm from cuba!......honestly never really paid attention to it till she sang it...it was just what was done at sport events, after her i always tuned in to just see who can do it better than her....and till this very day no one has!!!

  • she was lip synching for the record

  • @jwb63095 fuck you, you really dont know what your talking about

  • @guandarria2011 haha chill out! its a fact that she was lip synching...andddd she died by taking too many prescription drugs in a beverly hills hotel room...i mean snap out of it

  • @jwb63095

Sit your nasty ass down, must be shit to be you.

Lip synching or not, it's still her voice.

  • @jwb63095

Damn, what's with you racist Ron Paul supporters?

Get out of the republican party, and take your drugs, fool.

Keep Whitney's name out of your mouth. You're not good enough to be the dirt under her shoes.

  • @jwb63095 And you were there, were you? Well, call off the lab tests now cos the Oracle called jwb63095 has spoken! She wasn't lip synching either. You know nothing. Zero. Zilch. You must be so talentless you have to come on here trying to bash a legend!

  • @guandarria2011 It's a well know fact it's a lip sync,it's still whitney giving a brilliant rendition,that's all that matters as it's still her voice.RIP

  • @shutittwat Well known by who? She sang it live!!!!

  • @jwb63095 She wasn't, for the record.

  • The Best Version Ever! RIP Whitney!

  • All I can say is WOW. I'm not even American but Whitney can make anyone feel patriotic with the way she sang that.

  • Impresionate :')

  • Gave me chills!!!! Wow!!!

  • RIP

  • Whitney, You will always b love and miss. God bless..

  • In 1991, a lot of people still hadn't heard of Whitney, but after this performance in the Superbowl, EVERYBODY knew her and people demanded her rendition of the National Anthem on record. That was a first. Patriotism was blaring out of home & car speakers with Whitney's voice. It was amazing. She's in a catagory all by herself. Untouchable. R.I.P.

  • amazing!

  • just Wow! she sang it the best!

  • listen to rather.

  • This is the only version that I can hear over and over again

  • Oh I missed her alright wit my glock, Where dat bitch at anyways. I no she hid my shit. Whitney I gunna kicks your ass so bad when you get home. signed Bobby

  • @boingtronic how could you be so dam disrespectful to her and she is dead like really dont say shit if you can at least let a legend Rest IN Peace

  • @Desha30able ?!? I'm disrespectful !?! Thats the way Bobby treated her and I'm disrespectful. I think she had a amazing gift and was very impressed by her rendition.

Oh by the way you want to be respectful, look up the subject matter of what she was singing about before you run out and vote for O'bama again.

  • How ironic that off all her pop songs she in my heart will most be remembered for this rousing, inspirational rendition of our National Anthem. Not only does it bring on the goose bumps but it moves you to tears. Cant touch this!

  • Without a doubt- The BEST 'Star Spangled Banner' there ever was, or ever will be. God Bless the incomparable Whitney Houston. May she rest in peace.

  • Absolutely moving, moved to tears. RIP lady and thoughts and prayers for your daughter and family. The world lost a star and the heavens gained one of the brightest.

  • Listen to that crowd...RIP Whitney we will miss you!
