  • @nightflyyer, have you ever flown any of your rc planes @ mcas tustin?

  • it is great to have someone showing a video that can actually talk of what he knows ,,, makes it nice ,,, i was never in the service ,,but respect all of you

  • Mig 15 Fagot ???? :))

  • Brigadier General Jay W. Hubbard was my beloved grandpa. I'm showing my 7 year old daughter how cool her great grandpa was. Thank you for the video and the tribute. He was a class act and I am so proud to see his legacy and passion lives on!

  • Nice video, would've been better if it had a Tomcat... nice Wildcat too

  • Great, but I'd lose the music, dude.

  • auuu

  • yeaaa

  • Anychance of removing the music it spoils the footage taken ...

  • were u in vietnam r kera

  • I am a vietnam veteran I killed 1500 VC now who wants to fight me..??

I was joking........ he he he he...

  • I was discharged from El Toro 1969 after leaving Vietnam..Marble Mt MAG-16..68-69.

I recall some Marine F4's flying next to us (doorgnr on Hueys') and turning on their afterburns and doing loops and their bombing runs near Dong Ha..these birds were amazing and so were the pilots..I served at Seal Beach NWS Marine Barracks in 1967 prior going to Vietnam..I read those barracks have also been closed.

I recall an A4 crashing in our area that year,,based out of Alamitos. nt sure if pilot made it

  • What song starts at 1:27, NightFlyer... sounds badass... I like it.

  • I have seated in a mig-17, mig-23, f-16, f86 and some other I know mostly everthing about plane. That f4u was britsh i know cuz of the 20 mm cannon US had 12.7MM MGs this is also a late model and US corsair have a multi tone cooler and says there home carrier on it. What plane did u flow in?

  • El toro was a good base, so was Tustin and also Long Beach. The liberals won and closed them all down my friend. It sucks I know, nice vid....

  • Sad when cities declare themselves sanctuaries for illegal aliens while being so unwelcoming toward the military..

  • oh yea, it was the libs that closed the base.

it could not be the fat cat right wing with pockets full of cash that want to put a golf course in.

  • ur an idiot, golf course is about 10mins away. El toro is just a vacant lot now with the building and shit still there and horses roaming. Like I said liberals cupcake..

  • Ya well we got a navy air base shuting down, going up will be 800,000 dollar homes. If you got a vacant lot its because the funding fell through. Wait a few years, your new mall is comming- cupcake

  • I'm diggin the porn music!

  • lol porn music he said

  • wow really nice vid:) even a mig-21 wow..

  • intruder!!!!!! woooo!!!

  • How silly. I can assure you that as a platoon leader with the 101st in Vietnam, I will kill you.

  • So still like to kill people eh? You dont know me yet you make that kind of remark. I thought we were all survivors, but guess I was wrong. Good luck and thanks for your service.

  • immature statement from a squad leader!

  • Perhaps immature. My dead friend, Marine Doug, got the CMH at IWO. He and I were both Infrantry, and as such, we are rare birds. I did not mean shoot you. My mistake.

  • hi dave

    great job again

that propshaft on the helli SCARY

    garry

    bolton uk

  • Thanks much.. Your right about the shaft too. LOL.

  • Very nice write up for General Hubbard. The F3D Skynight at 11:18 was one of Jay's aircraft he flew in Korea. Our facilities at Miramar exceed those we had at El Toro as we continue to expand our inventory and presence in our ongoiing efforts to represent the United States Marine Corps. My dad was director of aircraft restoration and I was the chief of security for the MCAS El Toro Command Museum. I am kind of proud of that. We all miss Jay, Harry and my dad, all are in service with God now.

  • Thanks very kindly for your comments. I will make an annotation in the video about the F3D. I am sure that the new museum is quite nice and I appreciate all your efforts involved in what you have done to rebuild it. I am sorry for your loss and glad you are carrying on the tradition. Semper Fi,

    MSgt Dave Herbert.

  • Ooorah!

Check with Sgt Steve Smith, at the Flying Leathernecks museum at Miramar for more info. Steve has been around pretty much since the earlier days at El Toro, He is now curator at Miramar. Because if memory serves me right, General Hubbard told me he had also flown the museum's F-8U. Also one of the A-4M's in VMF-214 Black Sheep markings, is the last skyhawk produced and was spotted by Harry Gann, taken out of active service and signed over to the museum.

    Semper Fi.

  • Thanks again. Good stuff.

  • Nice video. Thanks for posting.

This is the first video I've watched where it's already in high quality.

  • Thanks. Not sure what they are doing with that, as many do not have High enough speed connections.

I see they now have a way to turn off the lights, by clicking on the light bulb in the upper right hand corner above the video. Wild, eh?

  • great plane my friend, great plane! :)

  • Thanks. Happy Flying.

  • A Cobra can fly inverted, all the way to the crash site

  • LOL.

  • I remember that place. VMFA 531 68-69 power plants/ external fuel stores.

  • You got it. Semper FI.

  • hey dave, are all of them planes still flyable? kinda curious to know if when they moved did they just fly all the planes over to the new museum or did they have to dissasemble, pack and fly the parts then reassemble them at the new place?

  • They all could be made flyable, but most are not. They had to disassemble and fold wings and truck them to Miramar. I know none that were actually flown there, unless they were in a cargo jet.

  • great vid dave, 5 stars

  • Thanks very kindly.
