Whats the problem?..as a bassplayer she's very very talented....she's easy on the eyes (since when was that problem) and her singing is confident and real...So whats the problem exactly....YGG!

Music appreciation...give it a chance. I've been listening to her since 2008. I saw her first on David Letterman. Listening to her is like riding a bicycle on a cool, crisp spring morning! Aaaaah! Gotta love it!! A collaboration between young jazz trumpeter David Dunbar (google) and Esperanza would be off the charts.
PS, She also sang at Nobel Peace Prize ceremony for Pres. Obama in Norway.

OMG My ears can breath again. Her music is fresh oxygen for the audiophile's ear . Now I better understand what the Grammy Awards is all about. Giving honor to true artist over the commercial fabrication of music. She has true talent in that she understands what's happening musically with each chord, beat and rhythm. I'm so looking forward to hearing more of her. Well be definitely buying her CDs.
A true talent at her craft . For once , the Grammy's recognized a real artist from a very unappreciated genre of music called jazz. They've finally gotten it!!
What kind of music is this? some cross between jazz, lounge, New Age? very syncopated ^^ kinda new to me but i guess it's not bad. very up beat, but new and not unpleasant. fast tempo o.o. excites the nervous system. if i could make a comparison i would say it tasted like a fuzzy drink(carbonated water with a lime twist and a dash of caffine).
Esperanza, congratulations on winning best new artist at the grammy awards....the fact that you beat out justin beiber makes it that much sweeter...i've been listening to your music since junjo....you deserve it, love...

this is kind of a passing light hearted observation. and i am not getting into talent comparison in [either direction]. but something about her body type and energy, remind me of irene cara, from the original 1980 film, "fame".
Very good! But why not simply play the upright acoustic bass, if you are looking for that kind of sound on an electric bass? Oh! Maybe because it's difficult to dance while playing an upright bass. Lol!
@34days No reason, its a movement some fretboardplayers make; its like, iam don with this riff - left hand mute with a fancy 'sliding movement', on to the next bar.
this is sweet, why does she whip her hand up the fretboard when she grooves?... This is in no way a negative comment.. does that help her feel the groove? does that mean she goes to a center resting place at the top of the neck? or is it just a part of her playing? again not negative.. just an observation that I would like to get cleared up.
My favorite instrument

@34days No reason, its a movement some fretboardplayers make; its like, iam don with this riff - left hand mute with a fancy 'sliding movement', on to the next bar.

If she can dance, sing and play the funkiest bass line i've heard at the same time, pretty sure she can't be human.

this is sweet, why does she whip her hand up the fretboard when she grooves?... This is in no way a negative comment.. does that help her feel the groove? does that mean she goes to a center resting place at the top of the neck? or is it just a part of her playing? again not negative.. just an observation that I would like to get cleared up.

@prs7456 She's sliding quickly to another note on the neck. It gives a "whhoomp" sound while the hand travels to the higher note.

@01tnql Yeah I do the same. Not sure why, but I think it's just to get the fingers ready for the next set of notes or something...
