  • Sheer Talent! I love these girl............With lots of love from Africa

  • beautiful inside and out.

  • AND THIS IS WHY SHE WON THE GRAMMYS AHEAD OF JUSTIN BIEBER

FOR ALL YOU JUSTIN BIEBER FANS THIS IS REAL MUSIC LISTEN!!!

    DON'T BE SAD BE HAPPY

  • To play the bass like that and sing is hard, she great and I had to hear about her through a fluke. The music industry is crap.......PEACE

  • I was in love with her music before I even saw her.

  • Whats the problem?..as a bassplayer she's very very talented....she's easy on the eyes (since when was that problem) and her singing is confident and real...So whats the problem exactly....YGG!

  • bom

  • Everyone is intiled to their own opinion . If some people don't like her thats fine because she don't give a rat's ass . I believe that she can sing well and unlike some of the other female artists she knows herself . she don't need any sexy stuff to promote and keeep her music going . If you like or dislike her either way she still makes money . The girl is talented !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • She's a REAL musician/bass player/vocalist.

  • Very beautiful and talented too!!!!!!!!!

  • show adorei seu som!!

  • I LOVE YOU

  • @GinaRubik you don't know what you are talking about, I'm sorry to say

  • @GinaRubik she can.she sings like may j blige would sing if she could sing.

  • @GinaRubik Based on what?

  • @GinaRubik Your opinion. But the FACT is she can. Sorry to say.

  • una bellissima scoperta, bravissima !!

  • I have two days listening to her and I can not get enough .... what a miracle !!! MIRACLE !

  • Sounds like a mixture of salsa and jazz to me!

  • amazing. she's grooving so hard in this! love it...!

  • This is like tae-bo double time speed!

  • Esperanza please! do not fight in club.

  • She was put a nice on bass guitar tease at beginning toward the end she toke on in the Scat

  • how she do that..

  • In a nut shell: Beiber is surprising not pure producer sculpted dog sh*t to the untrained ear as well as one with more experience. Esperanza is beyond that; she is redefining what the 'well trained ear' is in search of...

  • she has a lovely voice but i just don't like her music.

  • @Mishie715 ~ quelle domage. what. a. drag...;^)

  • Esperanza is the Sarah Vaghn of this era! There isn't anyone out there right now that can do what she does and especially at her age! Phoenom!! I love that she's so humble too! Awesome!

  • Good, Its Fantastic

  • Fantastic!

  • I think its even hotter that she plays bass

  • it´s a pastorius bass, but is not a custom shop one.

  • @leandroarruda2000 Pastorius Signature bass is Custom !...

  • I'm always at any person who can play an instrument and sing at the same time. As an example, BB King couldn't do it. Notice he never sings and plays Lucille at the same time.

  • pastorius bass?

  • @Jaguar9310 Its a pastorius tribute, just the regular fender one, the main difference, I think, is the fingerboard is pau ferro (well that and the price!), I have one, it's really nice, and I prefer the fingerboard, mine isn't all shiny and nice though, it's slightly relic-ed...

  • a dope jam, cant even lie

  • 6 people were disappointed, thinking that they understood the music.

  • She's a jazz matador. There's a very wide class distinction btwn her & justin B. Plain & simple.

  • She's a jazz matador.

  • Wow, she's great. Sings and plays! I only know one other bassist that does that, her name is Kristin Korb. I met her at a jazz festival and had her sign one of my basses... I definitely want to meet this gal and have her sign it too!

  • @ultimabass its weird I play bass too lol [double bass not guitar], im born in the same month as her i look kinda like her. its freaky we have a gap in our teeth on the exact same side lol its really strange but shes like 6 years older than me were both mixed with black and Native American we have the same kind of hairstyle and everything lol i thought i should share this with some one who could laugh with me talk about strange.

  • One of my favorite bass players along John Entwistle and Chris Squire...but she's in a complete league of her own.

  • I have such a huge crush on this girl.

  • @Rasts Brother I will get in the boxing ring with you for her!

  • @Rasts I've only listened to three songs and i am hooked for a life time. I love this girl!!!

  • @Rasts me too

  • @Rasts You and me both. What a beauty! Love her voice. And as a fellow bass player.....Mad Chops!

  • just amazing

  • Demais... demais...

    =]

  • justin bieber is just over rated. not everything that glitters is gold !!

  • I WISH THIS WAS IN MY KEY!!!

  • @ChickityChoice transposition is a beautiful thing

  • Her career is already ballistic, and its hard to imagine how far she can really go. How refreshing her music is, so beautiful and artistic.

  • Very impressive!!! .... I don't just throw that aroud either...

  • So fast! Who counted this in! I bet it was the drummer.

  • a sexy jazz version of Eryka Badu.......cool!!!!

  • Just saw her at the roots concert in philly. she was so awesome. its amazing how great she sounds live

  • Totally Amazing!!! I'm so glad to see and hear this.

  • the sad thing is that 1/2 of the folks going on and on about her wouldn't give a shit if she was middle aged, fat and normal looking......

That said, I like her MUSIC.....

  • @3shiftgtr sad but true..that face does not hurt...she is nice to look at but her talent is huge..

  • @3shiftgtr she's better than that. she's much more than just an image. i think people realize that much more than you give them credit for

  • @PrestonDowMusic It was a response to posts going on and on about her hair and how pretty she is and such. The people that listen like for her music t'was the point.

  • @3shiftgtr ah i see

  • @3shiftgtr So what? She happens to be talented AND beautiful. There are many artists who fall into that description...

  • @toekneeeyeoweme That post was a response were blurbing about how hot she is. I was saying that most of the people who like this kind of music don't care what she looks like. It's all about the music. And I am one of those people.

  • @3shiftgtr I agree with you 100%...it should be about the music. If her beauty attracts an audience who might not otherwise pay attention, I don't think that's a bad thing. Maybe it will open someone's eyes who hasn't discovered real music yet...

  • fuck justin bieber! yay! real talent!

  • gotta love her hair !!!

  • You gotta love her hair !!!

  • YOU ROCK!!

  • Is that the Jaco Bass?

  • oh my god,i´m speechless

  • My fav song on that album...I was totally in this situation...

  • amoooooo

  • 3 missed the thumbs up button. it's ok... maybe its too good that made them feel bad. sad.

  • TREAL JASSZZZZZZZZZ!

  • the fact that she beat beiber and whoever else for the grammy for best new artist restored my faith in mankind. thank you esperanza for being so talented and making such awesome music!

  • Shes adorable, and so talented

  • Yep, she deserved that award.

  • i hope she does a song with Justin Bieber!!!! OMG....it would make my life complete!!

  • @theNo10 no.. eww.. shut up

  • Oh God that tempo, I can't keep up masturbating.

  • di boss gyal

  • That bass line melts in my mouth.

  • she's talented and certainly young, I really felt florence and the machine deserved best new artist.. lotta luck with the whitehouse bookings. I don't see why its so important for the music industry to push the youngsters into just overpromo before they are comfortable with the work.. i think it cheapens the intelegence of their art sometimes. florence may not have had the best video concepts good music though. best artist isn't just about being a fresh face that can sing the anthem at halftime

  • When you move to Jazz music is it really dancing? Seriously. i just can't enjoy this music and I am really really trying.

  • @nobodymm Why wouldn't it be dancing just because it's jazz?

And if you can't get into it, then you just can't. The world is not going to stop because of it...it's perfectly fine.

  • @BroqenHart

Fair enough. I really did attempt to listen to Esperanza with a totally open mind.... I am glad to see she was not only nominated, but won the award ahead of some of the other acts that came out this year. (but deep down I was holding out for mumford and sons to take the award.)

  • @nobodymm it's because it's on a deeper level... you need to hear beyond the melody, hear the bass, the ride cymbal, the harmonic structure... it lives between the beats.... when you'll feel that, you'll move!

  • @nobodymm if you knew anything about jazz, you would know that jazz was the original dancing music in america. it's called swing buddy.

  • @Dropkickewok It was originally marching music. Swing came later.

  • For the first time in a loooong time I'm finally excited about a new artist.

  • Three people should pull their heads out of their asses or just stay at the childcare where they escaped from.

  • David Dunbar, young jazz trumpeter, host of the Maddog and Dave TV Show in Denmark & Esperanza should do a collaboration. Off the charts!----Baton Rouge, LA

  • OMG My ears can breath again. Her music is fresh oxygen for the audiophile's ear . Now I better understand what the Grammy Awards is all about. Giving honor to true artist over the commercial fabrication of music. She has true talent in that she understands what's happening musically with each chord, beat and rhythm. I'm so looking forward to hearing more of her. Well be definitely buying her CDs.

  • @TheZKnight well said my friend

  • @TheZKnight

Truer words are rarely spoken, before Esperanza I thought the Grammies were to honour mainstream bulllcrap but this girl has such talent.

  • Three people were Bieber fans

  • phenomenal! congratulations on the well deserved award esperanza

  • An excellent artist. She can play multiple instruments and has a great voice. No wonder she won the Best New Artist Grammy. A no-brainer.

  • le talent à l'état pur !!!

  • its so sad...i just learned about her today. where the hell was i when this came out? this rox my sox!!!

  • OMG, im actually listening 2 GOOD music?

  • that Brazilian rhythm taking me away, love it!

  • amazing. she should collaborate with erykah badu that would be epic

  • T A L E N T ED .......Finally someone holding some real goods

  • I love this woman. Her aura is soo powerful and true.

  • what a cutie. shes dope!

  • A true talent at her craft . For once , the Grammy's recognized a real artist from a very unappreciated genre of music called jazz. They've finally gotten it!!

  • What kind of music is this? some cross between jazz, lounge, New Age? very syncopated ^^ kinda new to me but i guess it's not bad. very up beat, but new and not unpleasant. fast tempo o.o. excites the nervous system. if i could make a comparison i would say it tasted like a fuzzy drink(carbonated water with a lime twist and a dash of caffine).

  • congratulations Ms Spalding, true inspiration, you got it goin on

  • Esperanza, congratulations on winning best new artist at the grammy awards....the fact that you beat out justin beiber makes it that much sweeter...i've been listening to your music since junjo....you deserve it, love...

  • 100% deserved her Grammy- this is the kind of talent that makes people recognize true artists! :)

  • She was 20 back then? hawt damn!!!

    What a great talent ;)

  • WoW never knew who she was until the Grammys...she amazing the kind of artist that makes you smile ima a fan now...completely speechless

  • Amazingly talented, beautiful young woman! Congrats to her and the jazz community :^)

  • i would be dancing my ass off. srsly.

  • INSPIRING! this Woman is Rockin it!

  • I've have a renewed faith in the grammys after last night.

it just shows that Talent always Trumps HYPE!

  • man she deserved this ...i sure hope she stays possible...

plus she has chops to spare

  • this girl is SUPER talented... awesome

  • Great, finally an real artist wins an award.

  • @rker321 She couldn't carry Florence Welchs purse. Travesty.

  • @whalestail1955 Wrong. Esparanza is a classically trained multi-instrumentalist and singer. Ignorance is bad my friend.

  • mmmmm no pasa nada ..¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ justin bieber es muxo mejorrrr ,el debio llevarse el grammy y no estaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • Good to hear that Grammy Awards is still given to real musician not marketing puppy like Jason 'Who the f... is' Bieber

  • GROOVY!!

    CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

  • shes a real talent..hadnt heard of her before she won the new artist award easy to see why she did..nice to hear music with actual style among the commercialized nonsense

  • @gbmike99 If people make pop music it doesn't mean that they are commercialed get these facts straight MJ has done pop music for all his career but he's also the most talented person

  • @gbmike99 Amen.

  • i like this uptempo version better than the slower original. and i was pretty surprised when everyone was like "WHO?" when she won. i was like....HOW HAVE YOU NOT HEARD OF ESPERANZA?!? she's amazing!!! Congrats on the Grammy!!

  • Very well deserved Grammy lady :) !!! I really need to start listening to more music from this genre !! Such talent ...

  • deff deserved a grammy

  • Genial, essa menina é o que a de melhor no Grammy desse ano.

  • I'm sure Tom Jobim would really love her talent...

  • this is kind of a passing light hearted observation. and i am not getting into talent comparison in [either direction]. but something about her body type and energy, remind me of irene cara, from the original 1980 film, "fame".

  • OK...I'm addicted. I've fallen in love

  • Very good! But why not simply play the upright acoustic bass, if you are looking for that kind of sound on an electric bass? Oh! Maybe because it's difficult to dance while playing an upright bass. Lol!

  • Fingers!

  • oh, we can dance alright, honey!

  • i've fallen in love with her...

  • @34days No reason, its a movement some fretboardplayers make; its like, iam don with this riff - left hand mute with a fancy 'sliding movement', on to the next bar.

  • If she can dance, sing and play the funkiest bass line i've heard at the same time, pretty sure she can't be human.

  • oh yeah,

jaco pastorius jazz bass, with a pretty woman!

    five stars!

  • this is sweet, why does she whip her hand up the fretboard when she grooves?... This is in no way a negative comment.. does that help her feel the groove? does that mean she goes to a center resting place at the top of the neck? or is it just a part of her playing? again not negative.. just an observation that I would like to get cleared up.

  • @prs7456 She's sliding quickly to another note on the neck. It gives a "whhoomp" sound while the hand travels to the higher note.

  • @prs7456 i do the same thing sometimes when i play; dont know why

  • @01tnql Yeah I do the same. Not sure why, but I think it's just to get the fingers ready for the next set of notes or something...

  • 0 dislikes, damn straight

  • and she uses the jaco jbass

  • MAN SHES TALENTED!!!!!!!

  • ESPERANZA I LOVE YOU, MARRY MEEEE!!!

  • @SuperstereoGenova

thats my wife so back off..lol

  • @nastyneal "there can be only one" :D

  • Wow, they play the song really fast! :P

  • I wish Chris Daddy Dave were in her band...that would be the sickest combo ever
