@se7en98 many modern hang gliders have what's called "Variable Geometry", or V.G.
This is a feature where the glider's structure is modified with the tension of this cord. Tight for better glide, loose for better handling. Watch his wing change shape when he pulls it tight for crossing the valley and loosens it for handling near the cliff.
