Did you check a local weather channel during the time that was happening, you could have been right on the edge of a cold front. That area had an uneven level of temperature where the moisture in the air was reaching the dew point, then again I'm not a meteorologist but I think it's something pretty close to that.

I believe that gravity waves are much easier to detect then most scientists believe.
