its kinda of funny looking bk in the past of NASCAR with Jimmy Spencer now doing RACEDAY and Jeremy Mayfield failed the drug test WOW.and the cars it just takes me back to see them like this and it called the Winston cup.o and Mark martin win at Darlington, lol Lake Speed sponser was Cartoon Network god NASCAR was as hot as it is now,it will never die out
What happened to Andy Hillenberg, Robert Pressley, Billy Standridge, and Steve Grissom? What's Dick Trickle doing now? Why did Ted Musgrave stop running cup? Just Curious.
Robert Pressly does things in the truck series and is helping his son out. Dick Trickle still once in a while races in Wisconsion, Steve Grissom is helping his son in racing. Ted Musgrave raced in trucks and is still doing it sometimes, I think the reason why he isnt in cup anymore is, alot of teams wanted a younger guy
Hillenburg runs a driving school and will attempt an occasional NASCAR or ARCA race when finances allow. Billy Standridge, one of the last to compete in a Thunderbird, runs an auto parts store in North Carolina. So does Hut Stricklin. Lake Speed and Jerry Nadeau retired due to injuries, Greg Sacks will make an occasional attempt. Steve Park and Ricky Craven are looking for work. Rick Mast runs an environmental cleaning service. Chad Little is the touring director of the Whelen Modified Tour.
Yeah they still let people who wanted to run the Thunderbird run it in the beginning of 1998. I believe later they made all ford teams switch to Taurus.
The next season, I believe it was limited to four to start the year, then one every eighth attempt. Didn't matter, he still DNQ'd about 20 times his last two years.
Chad Little, Robert Pressley & Jimmy Spencer..Spencer & Little I belive drove thrunderbirds thru all the Restrictor plate races....I belive Pressley drove the Thunderbird thru only Daytona
Mike Ciochetti (chuh-KETTY) was an ARCA regular that year who attempted the 500 in Stan Hover's #80 Ford. It was his first (and only) attempt to make the field for a Winston Cup race.
Back them before teams were going bust, it was common to have 55-60 teams attempt the Daytona 500. And I think there were a lot more obscure and one-off efforts.
He says Dale "Earnhardt" when mentioning Jarrett.

He screwed up on DJ. Saying he was Earnhardt and had won twice already. If it wasn't for luck, Earnhardt would've had that many or more

The "Ageless Dick Trickle", classic! Kenny Wallace failed to qualify for this race after finishing 2nd a week earlier in The Budshoot-out
TheCougarFrom1983 3 years ago
Anyone remember when they used to tell you who DIDN'T qualify after they give the starting lineup?
StoogeWatcher 3 years ago 5
Yeah, I remember that, those were the good days. Now it's only on the internet or if the announcer decides to announce a few of them on air.

i thought it was weird how ford had 2 types of cars in the field. dodge did that when they had the intrepid and stratus in the field

Yeah they still let people who wanted to run the Thunderbird run it in the beginning of 1998. I believe later they made all ford teams switch to Taurus.

Don't you mean Intrepid and Charger?
Dodge never ran the Stratus in Winston/Nextel/Sprint Cup, although they probably should've.
fatman50000 4 years ago
Actually, it was charger. Stratus was in pro stock.
