  • 5 people know who originally posted this video, me included

  • class pilot...very calm

  • Fantastic video. A great job from the pilots, air traffic control and ground crew. Bravo

  • I've been in a plane thats ingested a bird, its not a good experience :L

  • @Smack1TNG you got to have a nice meal after right?

  • @hzhenrik Sadly no, although I'm sure the ground crew had a whale of a time picking out the dead bird from the exhaust :L

  • damn cold blooded british !

  • Great job from the pilots and the ATC!

  • I bet the Camera guy got piss loads of money since it was shown on the news

  • @mjcuracao, sorry but i was speaking from my own experience, and it's my opinion that they're are amongst the best. Please take it as it is, "my opinion" , does this mean they aren't other great pilots from other countries, not casting aspirations on anyone.

  • Great and cool reaction from flight crew, flying a great plane that is able to take off with one engine, if right procedures are followed, wich flight crew did!

Bird strikes are a great hazard! As planes are for the other Birds!

  • video robber!!

  • @Aviationnation10 no doubt

  • max he will have only been able to use reverse thrust on remaining engine the other will have been shut completly down at this stage onboard computers will set flaps to balance and ajust accordingly

  • is that a 737?

  • No 757

  • Bearing in mind they are landing on one engine, how good was that landing at 5.03, it looked wobbly to me, but hey what do i know! Professional comment please?

  • @ciaphus123 that was normal. Also keep in mind the wind speed and the way the aircraft handles with only one engine.

  • Directorphillip....you are correct....my comment was poorly worded....1549 could not have ended any better considering the situation....a very admirable job by all crew on board

  • did the bird survive?

  • no duh

  • @Agent0range67 of course not.

  • ar im going away with thompson in 1 week today

  • Kenan, the Concorde is still there, and has been for some years. It's in the aviation viewing park as a tourist attraction. You might also perform other rudimentary checks on the internet before accusing others of being factually wrong. It can help you avoid making yourself look a bit silly.

  • having said that tho..the pilot of the 1549 hudson crash did a fantastic job of saving the lives of everyone on board, i take my hat off to him!

  • Why does professionalism like this give me goosebumps? :)

  • man they are so professional , compare it to the 1549 hudson crash...this is how all emergencies should be handled

  • Yep, as Brad Pitt said in Fight Club: "Calm as Hindu cows." ;)

  • yeh Thompson 253H or Thompson 263H.

  • I think thats Thompson 253 H (235 hotel)

  • Wow! Nasty bird strike. Glad I work on ships! =P

  • At the start...which is it....253H or 263H??

  • Finally relives himself at 4 mins 13

  • nice job of getting that plane safely on the ground!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Lets not forget the brilliant camera man, right time right place!

  • @Ffeenixx yeah camera man = right place right time..... but the bird = wrong place, wrong time! haha

  • Well handled!

  • did he fly up higher to put the fire out?

  • no ,he climbed to the safe altitude to maintain safe with one engine

  • the fire u saw basically was the reason of a compressor stall where the pressure in the engine is less and the fire you saw was the ignitor plugs firing to possible relight the engine

  • That is true JETCHARTER1, i think AA pilots are definitely amongst the kings of the air and other air as well , they're great. thanks for the reminder :)

  • Excellent pilotage in face of a strike. Excellent handling of situation by pilot and controller! This pilot could have a job with my company any day!

  • How calm was the pilots voice. Great flying, calm under pressure.

  • would this be dangerous?!

  • An engine failure should not be taken lightly. However unless anything else exceptional happens, a twin-engined aircraft shall be able according to regulations to climb out on one engine or it will not be certified. Pilots are trained for this.

  • I thank all you gods of the sky (pilots) for all you hard work ( and undrpaid work in my oppinion), thanks!

  • Was he flying all that way on just one engine?

  • affirm

  • Only European pilots, the best on the planet. Thumbs up, great handle

  • @G6304

    what are you talking about?

I am a European private pilot, but you lack something in your brain.

You need to get out of your house a little more!

    Please!
