73 was when the honeycomb grille came in. My car was a late L reg made in July 73, something which has confused everyone (everyone thought it would be tax exempt).
The grille you talk of I believe was only used for a very short while between 1971-1973 on tax exempt cars. The recessed grille right?
@MrChasR I've got an Oct '72 and it's got the honeycomb grill, I think the recessed grill was 69-71....honeycombe was still on in '74 (the factory v8's had it).....oooh and it's got a full stainless exhaust with no mid-box, sounds lush!
@MrChasR Let me correct you when I say that 1971 onwards they used the black grills until then it was chrome and i think 1975ish was when the rubber bumper was released
@QSideProductions Looks like a 73 to me. I have the exact same car, right down to the same color. And it has the same grille. On my car, though, the steering wheel is on the correct side (as opposed to the right side).
my opinion is, swap a miata double wishbone suspension and drivetrain, turbo the 1.6 motor for porbably 1500 including the Flyin miata voodoo box for fuel management. that would be a hella nice track car.
i think the mgb is the missing link i need. i want a lightweight rwd sharp looking car (got the miata) need 4 seats (mgb does both,) have the tuning itch so i want to go turbo, miata has a great suspension setup, mgb can fetch higher selling value over a normal turbo miata. epic win, i say.
Over here in the UK, MX-5s (assuming that's what you mean by Miata) still fetch more than MGBs now at the moment and are the more popular option.
I've owned 3-4 MGs and after driving a 944, it does the jobs better. More space (even a dwarf would struggle in the back of the MGB whereas you can just squeeze two people into the back of a 944 to go to the pub...). Handling is superb. Maybe a 924 S Le Mans. Yes Maybe I'm turning old and lazy :(.
i meant a mgb with all the word i poisted above, would sell for more than a turbo miata (and yes i mean mx-5 in europe, in the states we call them miatas)
Fantastic sound! Thanks for the upload!

I will, but it needs an oilchange. It's slightly smokey after not being run (on a good run) for almost 8 years.
It sounds burbleish, and mellow, but it is certainly purposeful :).

Yes, that is my suggestion for a way better sound. Deep and mellow.

two words "magnaflow muffler".

Is that referring to what I should replace it with or what it reminds you of?
I should get a video up of my Falcon single box system on my brown B. Sounds very different (less rasp for one) and it is better there.

that would be great if u could,
im trying to decide wether to go for rasp of mellow
