I think its time for them to move on and for the child to be with his true father. The Brazilian family did a selfish act into keeping him there far away from his real father for a long time.

Eventhough the biological father has all legal rights to join his son and take him back to the US, I perceive he acted in a selfish way. His ego was hurt and he prefered to submit his child a terrible pain by cutting all ties with his maternal family than letting the grandmum go with them to help in the transicion.

He has a right to know and enjoy his father's home and remember it as his rightful childhood home. The disgrace is that he was kept away for so long.
