@surfxx i think (but not sure) that the snare sound the way it does because of the quality of the mics used to record or lack of mics. if you just experiment with stuff you will eventually find something that works. i used a piece of painters tape and the top of a match book between the tape and head it sound pretty good.
The snare needs to be dampen or something. Not an expert on drums but i know what it should sound like. Also loosen up, being tense is never a good thing. But yeah, the snare doesn't sound right so.....take my advice and maybe turn the snare off? (i'm in band and our drum kit never has the snare on so it actually sounds right when we play a song from Santana or Led Zeppelin.)
ok, to start out, from what i can tell, those are mapex drums, so they obviously dont sound like crap irl. two, this is a recording made with a camera, his kit isnt all mic'd up, therefore it will sound off from the music, to us anyway. this is a very good cover, but put some bang in the intro, instead of just playing the triplets, try to play a little diddle closer to the middle of the ride and end it with the other hand doing an accent, sounds so much better =)
I gave you 4 stars, it was a pretty good job. Like DarkDrummer said the time was slightly out of time at one point.
The drums sound awful, I know your probably are in a small room and the sound can't travel but you can't get a worse sound that that. All acoustic drums sound better when you put a Mic on them. A Roland set would be better in a small room like that.
not a bad cover but dampen the snare and i like to play the beginning cymbals clamping the hi hat it sounds pretty cool you should try it

this may sound funny but put a womens pad on your snare it looks stupid but it really helps
