  • We will hand out 3D glasses and all the aspirins we can spare,

    No compromise no deal !

I loved this back in '81 still love it now.

For God's sake ! Would someone write music like this again please !!!!

  • x marks the g spot......kim shoulda been that chick in the matrix ......ma-trix---isis?

  • I miss rock and roll!

  • this song is to be played when i go waterskiing

  • BTW - this is one of the best rock albums that nobody has ever heard (besides us Canadian prog-rock geeks) spread the word and get it out!! Oh, and I think it was track #2, "In the world of Giants" was the first track on that album....which contains the most blistering solo (maybe outside of Al Dimeola) that I have ever listened to!!

  • @itfahkenichz track one

  • "No compromise, NO DEAL!!"

  • one of my all-time favourite Max Webster tunes! Can't help but smile through this one!!

  • i remember this very well .... WOOOOOOW !

  • For anyone who hasn't heard this song.... you should " check, check this out" Awesome song with lots of partying to this one lol

  • I lost the album a while back the inner sleeve had some really cool drawings and art work. Awesome song!!!

  • can this be bought on cd, I wore out my record long time ago

  • All I remember is going to a Rush concert back in the late 70's not knowing who Kim Mitchell was and seeing him coming out on stage in that yellow jump suit get-up playing Check? CREEPY!!! But damn he can play the guitar.

  • @Manwithjeep I wonder if he saved the yellow jump suit for the "Kim Mitchell does Max Webster" show? lol Hope to see the show one of these days!!!!

  • mitchell's playing at times reminds me of steve vai many years later, he was one of the first "shredders"...fairly ahead of his time

  • "Check" is actually track Number 2." In The World of Giants" is Track Number 1.

  • A guitarist I know named Craig Young used to jam with Kim back in the 80's. Good shit.

  • What about Coney Hatch ?

  • I wish I could see it live again. My God! did they rock? They actually gave Rush a run from their money!

  • I loved the inside of the album with the musical notes Wish I still had that

  • I've seen these guys open for RUSH many times during the late 70's and early 80's. They were a killer band. Kim Mitchell was and is a tremendous guitarist. "Check" is what they would open with.....so absolutely cool were these guys.....I was so lucky to have been there. Great, great memories.

  • I saw them in st. paul mn. in 1977 they were both killer..............

  • Ahhh, track Number 1 on Universal Juveniles. :-)

Here we are, here we are

    Watch the world turn

    Feel our ears burn

  • Track number one? I have only owned the CD of Universal Juveniles, and 'Check' is not the first song on it. Is it on the vinyl version?

'Check' is totally great. I can't help but think the tune was penned from the obligatory "check, check" nonsense musicians are forced to endure preparing for a live performance. Like, one day Kim was doing it for the sound guy, and he thought, Man, I can write a song around this bullshit!

    Anyone know the deal?

  • sounds plausible; just one thing - pye du bois (perhaps best known among rush fans as having submitted "tom sawyer" and "between sun and moon" to neil peart) wrote the lyrics to the max tunes...

  • Oh, sure. I know that. However, it isn't a stretch to imagine Kim gabbing with Pye and mentioning such a thing. I mean, who knows? Well, Kim does, of course.

  • This is my favorite Max Webster song!

  • This album and"Crash and Burn" from Pat Travers have got to be the best record album from the early eighties.Foreigner, Journey,There has got to be more.(Any suggestions?).

  • Rush's Moving Pictures, Triumph with Allied Forces, Women And Children First by Van Halen, theres a big list.

  • Im totally there with both of ya...all awesome albums!!!

  • @GordonYYZ Led Zeppelin-Physical Graffiti, KISS-Greatest Hits 1 and Animalize, Queen-Another One Bites The Dust...etc.....

  • Dude you came through!!!

Much appreciation from an old Max Fan!
