those people in the video spent their whole money on that thing instead of a house... DO YOU SEE A HOUSE AROUND! no... they got that instead of a house
for anyone who is a little misguided by clever advertising, allot of the movements such as the helicopter etc. are not an incredible advancement in audio recognition or "AI" but merely pre-programed movements, choreographed by the clever people at sony to make yet another consumer product appear more spectacular than it really is.
This would be brilliant , however for each track, new movements have to be programmed in via computer motion software. This is near impossible for buyers, and costly and time consuming for Sony.
well, i think that it has special software integrated which analyses sounds and reacts to them, so u basically have to put songs in and watch it go...
lol how useless. the design wont appeal to children. It is too grown up and futuristic. Also the price is too high. the technical complexity behind this machine also isnt something children really want to know about. For grown ups its just too useless. . . . .
To my opinion, it's a complete wate of time and resources. And for those who say it innovative, well, it's not. There is a plethora of thingies that move to music.
Indeed, no real application aside from simple entertainment. HOWEVER, if this device can react so well (spining for helicopter, understanding wiper-esque sounds, understand train sounds) to ALL sounds, and not just those used in this demonstration, than I think that shows an advancement in computer sound regonition and AI.
Woah! steady with the insults! This product is a very expensive gimmic. Anyone earning enough to buy one will be intelligent enough to buy a better product. Are you seriously going to sit down and watch that thing?! The novelty will wear off after 10 mins! Please explain to me what I'm getting for my money.
A very expensive gimmick? It's hardly any more expensive than an iPod Nano and I'd take the fun, unique movement over an extra 2-3GB's of space (This has 1gb built in). The thing will mostly sell for children, and I think you could do a lot worse. I think this will intrigue and interest a child far longer than most other similarly priced toys on the market (Such as that terrible black and white robot).
It's entirely different on many levels. With the Nano design, the form follows it's function, there's no gimmick involved. I don't remember Nano doing a somersault the last time I turned it on. But you hit the nail on the head when you said toy. If it is a toy then gimmickyness is acceptable.
Anytime i have watched winmedia the computer couldn't simple recognise certain sounds. The technology here for sound regonition seems a lot better. Knowing what sound a helicopt makes, know what sound wipers make. Unless it is preprogramed like that for the demonstration. Winmedia tends to do a lot of things that look interesting, but don't really follow the song half the time.
In my opinion it's crap. I bet it will sound crap too. And at 300 usd's it's crapness multiplies exponentially. I absolutely agree, people can spend money on what they want. But it doesn't stop this product being crap.

Wow, this will be interesting for all of 10 minutes then it'll lose it's appeal and the only redeeming factor is you can brag to your friends that you have so much money that you buy retarted things like this.

It's the advanced technology involved that is amazing.
Too many haters/morons to understand that basic concept.

Is there any "advanced" technology? I dont think so, only common program combined with some motors.
Its like u r watching WinMediaPlayer.
