Norman did this laughing with Bruce Forsythe on Sunday Night At the London Palladium. They were on stage for an hour as there was a strike by the dancers etc, (I think). Anyway, he had on Bruce's 'I'm In Charge' suit. Could only keep it on if he could tell a certain joke without laughing. Of course as soon as he reached the 'punch' line he started with that laugh. Never did find out what the 'punch' line was, of course.
This one used to have me in hysterics when I was little and it STILL makes me laugh even now. Seeing the old 78rpm label takes me right back. Thanks for posting, 78s4FR!
@spannerworks1 One of the best things is that it sounds so spontaneous....the 'mistaken' key-change and the 'improvisations' are obviously scripted but you'd never guess. Perfect understated British genius-comedy at it's best! They're both irreplaceable!
