Keep the 2nd amendment, but allow the states to determine individual laws that are not unconstitutional. Obviously no automatics and bazooka's, which Ron Paul actually has said. Guns planes is an option but I don't know if its the only option to hijacking. This is something that should be discussed. I believe we will figure out and resolve complications to gun control in the near future.

About the idea of cities with strict gun control having lower gun crime rates take a look at Washington DC. You can't have a firearm there at all for self defense use. The crime rate their is through the roof.

Allowing cities to come up with their own gun control laws is a bad idea. Just imagine driving across a state with your handgun and every 5 miles or so the laws changed. One says you have to have your gun in the trunk, one says you have to take it apart and store it in the glove compartment, another says it has to be in plain view. What a mess. What if they did that with traffic signs. Imaging the confusion.

But all in all there should be none or very little...like background checks etc. And you shouldn't get in trouble if a firearm is within your property (which includes your vehicle)...God...why couldn't politicians follow the constitution?

That is the case though, counties are allowed in some instance to infer their own guns laws, the universal federal and state laws apply, however some counties and cities enact their own legislation. This is especially prevalent with concealed carry laws, which do vary by county and state.
