  • I like this tune it is fast like the beat is quite fast.

  • I hope all people realize its pronounceed: "Hydro City" not "hydroghCity"

  • @Mrfanofsonic kiwi6.com/file/8wgcr5h4fs

  • sonic 3 not 2 ;p

  • What does Sonic game music have to do with The King of Pop? Can someone tell me?

  • @Eleclover2021 It is said that MJ did the score for Sonic 2, I believe there is a youtube video of it comparing his songs to the game score

  • @OmniBOS

Wasnt it Sonic 3? not Sonic 2?

  • @Eleclover2021 I believe there have been reports of him being involved in the music score of the game.

  • @startup97 He was, it was confirmed, why he left is still a mystery however.

  • @124SonicXT I heard he was not satisfied with the sound chip and how limited the genesis sound but could go so thats why he left. But still you have to admit, the music in the game is amazing!

  • At least 23 people keep getting squashed by the wall.

  • i grew up in the early 2000s, but all i had was a genesis then and i miss these old sonic games

  • all old sonic games music were so EPIC! Makes me miss the 90's something crazy!

  • I'm in love with Mary Jane

  • @burkea29

    LOL

  • @burkea29 I love you

  • DAT WALL

  • fuck act 2 its so hard i die instantly

  • When i first heard this while playing it i almost cried it was so epic and beautiful

  • SONIC THREE HAS THE BEST SONGS

  • @sonicfan5568. Angel Island, Hydrocity, Marble Garden (act1), Ice Cap, Launch Base, can't disagree there.

  • This specific track and stage should definitely have been redone in generations. >_> can't believe they didn't. I didn't even play generations and probably wont but just saying.

  • I wish that remastered versions of all the zones of different games were DLC and you'd choose them from a menu that is somewhere close to the green hill zone portion of the hub.

    A man can dream, right?

  • @speeps84 Nobody gives a fuck about your autism, you dick twaddling fuckmint.

  • @Veece02 I'm not autistic lol. I'm just making fun of how people who play are generally autistic.

This is actually the only sonic game i've ever played.

  • @speeps84 Oh god

    /v/ on youtube.

  • @MultiPrismatic I don't even LIKE vidya gaems

  • This should have been the tune for both of them, brings me back to long nights in on the friday with mountains of sweets with nothing to do, the 90s<3

  • The entrance: Bound to be getting crushed by a fucking wall

  • @JRhymezOfficial that part always scared the shit out of me as a kid

    fucking autism

  • FUCK, i love this theme.

  • Dat bass

  • I learned Hydrocity on bass and slapped it ;)

  • I loved when Sonic crawled on that sort of toothpaste tunnel...

    it was toothpaste, yeah?

  • i remember playing this act i would crap my self when running away from the killer wall then i would be glad i made it to marble garden but crap my self again in act 2 in marble garden

  • Hydrocity ALWAYS makes me feel thirsty...

  • @MrNickWright Curse you! Now i'm thirsty!

  • I used to think this was pronounced Hi - Drocity, rhyming with Velocity

  • 1st time play how many times did you have to keep trying when that damn wall collapsed on you

  • THIS Zone should have made it in Sonic Generations instead of that darn Water Palace from Sonic Rush on the 3DS...

  • @Rodsim89 Which is a rip-off of this level.

  • Good ol' early 90s =P

  • Something about hydrocity makes me feel like im playing the game on a rainy day in the 90s again...and I never had a genesis

  • Fucking Wall, Can't Pass it lol

  • I wish that sega could make another system

  • SONIC KAI PLEAS POST ACT 1 MUSIC FOR THIS LEVL

  • 0:38 is the best part.

  • Best music of the game

  • Soni< 3

  • @invinciblemario11 I see what you did there.

  • act 2 really got the blood pumping, especially since knuckles was being such an asshole.

  • i always freak out when that 'out of breath' song comes in, makes me all panicky! :P

  • seriously not only is this the best water level in history, its also the best sonic level in history. It has the perfect combo of platforming and speed, as well as some kickass music XD

  • my favorite sonic water level, from my 2nd favorite sonic game

  • This is the best water level in gaming history. Nothing surpasses it.

  • @DarkestSymbiote I know of a waterFALL level that's better Xp

  • @fevimaster Which one is that?

  • @fevimaster Touhou 10 - Mountain of Faith Stage 4

  • Pure nostalgia. Brings me back to my parents' house, playing Genesis with my older brother ... Where did my youth go ?

  • 21 people got crushed by the moving wall

  • FUCK you new sonic!!

  • @supersoraman14 Eh, he's not too bad I wouldn't mind if SEGA killed Modern and went back to classic, but still Modern need a little more time to grow on you classic fans.

  • 0:38

    Eargasm

Dat bassline. Great work MJ!! :-D

  • Comment removed

  • Ugh this stage!!!

  • Masayuki Nagao personally confirmed that this act of Hydrocity is his arrangement.

The original composer is still unknown.

  • @kyubihanyou It's gotta be Circco and/or Brad.

  • Best water level in any video game, I'd say.

  • The greatest sonic level ever

  • 21 people had no 1994...

  • I wish Sega would admit publicly once and for all that Michael was behind Sonic 3 soundtracks...

I mean, really, no more need to hide it now.

  • @JohnM3D

The kinda did when MJ died. Well, hint it.

  • @JohnM3D Indeed.

  • They based Sonic's shoes off of Michael Jackson's.

  • 0:24 reminds me of Primal Dialga for a sec there.

  • one of many zone that should have a 3d version.

  • I remember the third or so time I played this level I finally managed to bust out of that beginning area at EXACTLY 0:38 when the ambiance suddenly becomes more spacious after losing all my lives and getting a game over more than once because of that damn wall. The musical transition synched up PERFECTLY. I remember thinking the game couldn't get any better than this, but it awesome from start to finish.

  • @InflammabilityRing Your comment just gave me so much good memories. Thank you.

  • wish Hydrocity was a DLC level for Sonic Generations =/

  • @alldin:

    So do I now...

  • @sonicKAI theres still DLC to come. Out of Sonic 3 hydrocity, angel island, icecap my top 3

  • @sonicKAI Marble garden baby

  • @sonicKAI Did Micheal Jackson really make these tracks?

  • @fmabfma Not exactly, it was his songwriting team

  • @alldin With this music: /watch?v=qKDYXjwNpqI

  • @alldin It might be sometime... I do know casino night made it so it's an possibility.

  • @alldin It should be on the 3DS version.

  • act 2 sounds better than act 1

  • @Tantemify Obvious. But since this track is so good I'll let it slide. Get it? Water. Slide. Hahahahahahaha.... I'm so bored.

  • @Tantemify god, you got 55 likes for that comment :L

  • "This song kicks a- SHUT UP MOVING WALL! DAMN!"

  • I like the Act 2 version better.

  • @LD75network

    This is Act 2.... o___o

  • @TheQUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD I know. I'm just saying....

  • This one totally owns act 1 for this has an incredible feeling ever. I guess its perfect to listen to when ur at a coolest water theme park :D

  • this should be my theme song.

  • it seemed like they made the music so that when you escaped from the wall, the epic part would start playing

  • 0:38 is epic

  • On 0:36 i usually escapes from the moving wall

  • god this is so awesome

  • jizz frm 0:22-0:52 dam dat part so soooo sweet :P

  • but yeah 0:00 is awsome

  • 1:20 was good but I HAD TO GET PASSED THE WALL IN THE ACT 2

  • This has been stuck in my head for about 2 days now. I find myself whistling it while I'm making coffee. I'm fully expecting to have a dream about it tonight.

  • Hearing this music, you can FEEL the adrenaline rush Sonic and Tails must be getting as they make their grand escape from this massive labyrinth that Knuckles dropped them into.

  • I listen to this when I go to sea world.

  • Not quite Ice Cap standards, but it's great. The only version which tops this one is the Walk on Water remix at OCRemix.

  • To this day I still can't understand how anyone could cram so much amazing music into one 16-bit game. When I was young i used to stop playing just to listen to the music, now I'm older I come on Youtube to hear it. Good times.

  • Love this song. 15 years later it still gives me chills

  • tell me 0:00-0:08 didnt make you think of mission impossible lol

  • @kingofdreamers19 WELL, now that you say it... it does.

  • the best theme in the ENTIRE series !

  • fuck! MJ died on my birthday! that's depressing

  • this song is my alarm clock in the weekeneds. ^^

  • This music makes it so exiting I remember this bit cus you've gotta escape, man the Sonic games were a real experience to play!! they were fun at times quite challenging, but u never got bored of them. Today games just feel like a chore to play, really ur just competing with the next guy over achievements, and petty online scores that dont really mean nothing, cussing and insulting eachother online. Gaming bk in the day was fun!!! Mario, Sonic they're real gaming legends!!!

  • The genesis soundchip is underrated as hell. I honestly prefer it to the Super NES in 90 percent of cases. (Square being the unstated exception.) SNES tunes always seem so muted and flat. The more distorted, noisier beats and notes from the Genesis just *pop* more to me. Granted, only Sega and Konami seemed to really know how to use it.

IMO, SNES is better for simulating sweeping, Orchestral style music. The Megadrive ruled at those pop/rock beats.

  • 0:00 ≤ X ≤ 2:00

    X = heaven

  • Sonic is my game hero :D

  • This act is exhilarating to play, because of this music. It's so awesome it's scary, and it gives me goosebumps and chills.

  • This music pump you up for the rest of the game... srsly, YOU NEVER FORGET THIS ONE.

  • @9imgood SAME HERE!!!! i was soooo paranoid but couldnt stop cuz how awesome the music was lol

  • That moving wall scared the shit out of me when I was a kid.

  • @9imgood it still keeps me on toes lol

  • This, along with Chemical Plant Zone, is probably my all-time favorite video game music. Hands down. Sooo hip...

  • i always hated that fricken moving wall >:(

  • @Nin10Yoshi The worst part about the moving wall is you can't hear the music.

  • @jaybob3553 My point exactly.

  • @jaybob3553 , yea i know. it makes you want to smack a goat.

  • @jaybob3553

    *VOOSH, CRASH CRASH CRASH, BOOOM

    Damn wall. :P

  • @jaybob3553 The moving wall...I dubbed it the "Giant Wall of Doom" because for the longest time I couldn't get past it.

  • Check out my remastered version (see video responses or my channel).

  • 0:37 > Eargasm

  • In memory of mical jakson

  • This sounds different when I played the XBL version of the game, it was the same tune and everything but it was messed up slightly.

Damn it, I replayed the game that far just to listen to that music as well :(

  • Probably the only level i consistently get over 200 rings with ease without get hit by anything, still gotta love the soundtrack takes me back to the 90's and my childhood... aww those were the days sitting for hours playing Sonic without worrying about work or money :P

  • 0:37 to 0:48 just makes me want to dance.

  • Definitely one of my favorite pieces of music out of all of the Genesis sonic games. Definitely NOT my favorite level though :P

  • Man, nothing today comes close to the level of tension you feel when the "drowning" countdown begins. Not even threat of instant decapitation in RE4 comes close.

  • Great tune.... and why you all saying this was hard? LABRYNTH ZONE ACT 3 was the hardest level ever..... what do you mean I have to bypass an endless waterfall loop at the start and then climb up endlessly to give Dr. Robotnik a good smack on his behind????

  • Thumbs up if you like the beat to this music!

  • @mclarenguy22 Yup i do like the beat to the music and thumbs up!

  • man the old Sonic games had some epic music

  • i just replayed Sonic 3 recently for the first time in several years, that wall moved much faster than i remembered >.< *squish*

  • the wall is a peice of cake. i usually spin dash so fast i skip the 2nd slope from there i can have a wank halfway through before deciding to carry on lol.

  • What I remember about this level? The stress of drowning! Get the bubble, get the bubble!

  • This is a great song, one of the best in Sonic 3, but I f*cking hated the wall! I died so many times...T~T

  • @kingboobs20 XD haha it isn't peggle. Lmao I laughed a lot

  • They need to name this song.

  • Dislikers couldn't get up the moving columns.

  • This is the best song ever composed

  • Urgh, back when I was about 7, could never do this. I'm 16 now and have this game for xBox....I STILL CAN'T BLOODY DO IT.

  • Howcome you can run of the screen like in Chemical Plant Zone? :(

  • >_< i love this song,better than act 1.

  • BOOM!: Nostalgia.

  • It's hearing songs like this that made me want to be a music major.

  • hydrocity was my favorite level and marble garden was my least fave

  • For a water level, this one isn't all that shit. Sure, it's hard but the music and the stuff is pure awesome!

  • defo my fav tune in the game! :)

  • my favorite zone but i dunno y and i hated water levels from sonic 1 and 2

  • This one was the best in my opinion because it was truly two-player. And you had those shields.

  • The beginning of this act was EVIL

  • Running on water with this music part here. 0:29

Was just awesome, i really loved that part :D

  • sonic 3 is the best sonic game

  • Definently my favorite Sonic Mix of all time!

  • The sonic classic series has always amazed me in the quality and complexity of their

themes, but unfortunately they truly don't "make em like they used to." Now pretty much all soundtracks for games are people blaring guitars for an action scene or a orchestra playing a short, equally annoying tune in a endless loop, not that I'm hating on sega for looping their music in the classic series. I personally sorta liked it because their music was really good!

  • As an amateur song writer, I can safely say that I am always in awe whenever I hear this theme. Segregated into three catchy, amazing parts, each one as memorable as the next one... a leading melody that sends chills down my spine everytime combined with harmonious rhythm sections that weave in and out of each other and is just straight cool to listen to. Absolutely amazing

  • @LynkxMan I can't agree anymore. The bass kicking with the drums at the start is just too groovy. Then the melody comes in and you can't help but hum. It's magical.

  • @RaxxerGaming64 Or you could just get some of the games right now.

  • jamming to this on my guitar and the song stopped and WHO THE FUCK ASKED FOR 2:01

  • 0:21 - 0:52

This section is absolutely amazing, it has two very distinctive parts but they are both so great in their own way.

  • I think this is the best sonic song ever..

  • 19 people got crushed by the wall

  • I loved the water levels in this game they are so cool and amazing, its hard to find a game with ggod music and gameplay these days.

  • 19 people failed to escape the moving wall

  • 19 people drowned in the Zone's water
