I remember the third or so time I played this level I finally managed to bust out of that beginning area at EXACTLY 0:38 when the ambiance suddenly becomes more spacious after losing all my lives and getting a game over more than once because of that damn wall. The musical transition synched up PERFECTLY. I remember thinking the game couldn't get any better than this, but it awesome from start to finish.

The genesis soundchip is underrated as hell. I honestly prefer it to the Super NES in 90 percent of cases. (Square being the unstated exception.) SNES tunes always seem so muted and flat. The more distorted, noisier beats and notes from the Genesis just *pop* more to me. Granted, only Sega and Konami seemed to really know how to use it.

IMO, SNES is better for simulating sweeping, Orchestral style music. The Megadrive ruled at those pop/rock beats.
