After all, Sgt. Pepper was recorded on two four-track tape machines (by Studer brand, now Revox). And they need so much tracks,t hey copied tracks into each other to have more tracks (reducing the quality due to analog abrasion)- so great how did that!
@saemikneu your miss informed a bit, Revox and Studer were separate, studer being professional and revox being semi pro. Quality is reduced during dubbing. The problem was the beatles could not get the 8 track and 16 track machines the US was using at the time, so they had to overdub.
Anyone who doesn't appreciate just how good and 'right' a drummer Ringo was just don't get it. I mention it here 'cause they really stand out and I can't imagine what other style/drummer would/could have done better,
Listening to this made me realize how significant that final chord really is for this album. Without the 4 pianos hitting that final note, it feels like something is missing.
If you read Geoff Emericks book Here There and Everywhere, this version of these songs makes even more sense. The humming part at the end of A day in the Life was Pauls idea and included many of the beatles friends, including some of the Rolling Stones. George Marting thought it wasnt right for the song and came up with awesome idea of striking the E chord with 4 pianos. Much better than the humming. The other songs are just the original 4 tracks without the editing.
@FetaCheese222 what i think they meen i n "all 4 channels"is that the 4 tracks of the tape were mixed into the 2 track or stereo sound that youtube has. i colud be wrong.

If you read the Beatles recording sessions regarding this song, Paul and George shared leads on the guitar.
