As hard as it is to imagine, I want to hear a mixed chorus arrangement of Dies Irae. With the right mix of women's and men's voices, it could sound amazing.
@MisterSpazzy This arrangement by Z. Randall Stroope, the most popular one, is written for a men's choir. We are singing it in the Colorado Men's All State choir.
But if you really want an awesome song. Look up Lamentations of Jeremiah by Stroope. It's incredible.
This is a very, very, very "pale" version of the version sung by the 2008 Texas All-State Men's Choir....this sounds like a waltz compared to the other version...
check out st.marys international school in japan mens choir or varsity ensemble. not that they have this song online, but they have a great choir. they sang this song a while back.
this song is awesome though. but i think this group can put out more power with such a large group, or maybe its where the camera is placed or its recording thingymabob is bad.
I'm tear-ring up right now...powerful...This is what men should/could be doing with their time and energy...acting as a Team to bring such phenomenal strength and beauty to the planet...TY!
@pwnedbyfailure funny...you're on this site...btw...I'm a 54 year old woman, and if you were my son...well...not possible...my prayers to your Mom...Have a Great Day!
my men's choir just went on a trip today and we did this song and were directed by Dr. Stroope. he was changing stuff during the song because "he had the composer's permission" haha. he was an amazing director.
Love this arrangement My high school men's choir did this piece for the East Allen Honor Choir in Fort Wayne IN!!!!!!!!!!!

I like this song a lot more with a women's choir, they make those high notes in the beginning sound so much more intense.

It might be the sound quality of the recording, but its sounds a bit too quiet when the music says to sing at Fortissimo

I LOVE this Dies Irae! I knew I wasn't looking for Verdi's. Now I know - it's by Stroope!
:D

I love the men's arrangement much more than the womens'. It's darker, not quite as sharp and bright.

I got the wonderful opportunity to sing this arrangement in a choir with a little more than 200 members. It was incredible.

We are singing this same song in my choir, in a much slower tempo mind you.
