God is all around us in everything and everyplace we go, in our hearts, and in our souls. He doesn't show up in the ways that you or I would think of. You can't just expect him to appear out of nowhere, you have to have faith in him and be silent and listen. He IS there. He's just waiting for you to open up your heart to him.

God will use people to help you whether they believe in Him or not. After all, He'll help you whether or not you believe. And you're right, God doesn't seak to us directly, but unlike a teddy bear, He will answer. Talk to God, cry to God, even scream at God - He can handle it, He's a big boy. If you need help, ask Him, and he will send what you need. :)

Can he physically comfort you? No
Can he talk to you without one sided conversations i could have with a teddy? No
Can he help in anyway shape or form without false hope being fed to you by preachers? No
