Toyotas are for mexican, teenage female drivers that hits the car in every parking lot, has never heard of an oil change and that doesn't imagine how the fuel moves a car. and the Prius is for american teenage female drivers that are a bit more stupid and with more cash, and they actually think they are going to do something for the planet.
Seriously, I would much rather be driving my 1995 Dodge Neon Highline which got up to 42 MPG and could go 0-60 in 6.5 seconds. I bought it brand new and put 250,000 miles on it before selling it to a pizza delivery guy.
@AUSTiNKiNSER That's if you drive in the most conservative way possible, if you drive regularly 36 mpg is a reasonable estimate on the mileage on a tank of fuel.
@NGAllAmericanBadass I promise you that the Prius doesn't regularly get 36mpg. We've had Prius' (Prii?) since they first struck U.S. shores in 2000. Driving from Illinois to West Virginia to see family, averaging around 75-80mph, in some spots over 100, and still get 47mpg overall. That's in our 2010 Prius. The second generation, which is the 2004-2009, at the same speeds, averaged overall about 43-46mpg, and the first generation (2001-2003) got around 40.1-43mpg.
@AUSTiNKiNSER yeah i call BS on that to be honest, there's no way you can drive 100mph in a prius in that part of the country. Freeways aren't flat or straight enough in that par of the country.
@NGAllAmericanBadass Okay, one, did I ever say that I drove that fast... IN WEST VIRGINIA?
Two, yes you can. There are plenty of parts on 119 South (the interstate I drive on in West Virginia) where it's flat with no curves. Not for long though, but there are.
Two, look at my videos, my 2010 Prius does easily 115mph. The second generation does 108mph, and the gen one barley broke 102. Though the Prius wasn't built to be a race car, it's easily capable of over 100mph.
@AUSTiNKiNSER Well also population density is an issue there, not like Montana or western Kansas where it's 50 miles to the next town, so and time of day you could achieve that without worrying about traffic isn't as often. And I just looked at the 115 mph video, not sure if you're doin quite 115 but i'm not sure if the speedometer there uses GPS or wheel rotation to determine speed, sometimes when it gets up there there's noticeable discrepancies between the two.
Add up the cost of batteries and replacements (3-5 years tops) over the life of the car, the energy used and pollution in manufacturing and recycling the rare-earth metals in the batteries, limited range and power, long recharge times. Total investment and costs for 10-15 years use.
Same thing regarding compact flourescent lamps. Lots of pollution and toxic materials in production AND DISPOSAL, and the light output is not nearly as much more as the "specs" say.
@toyotaprius79 You can still hate the Prius. The batteries take more energy to produce, transport, and dispose of than an equivalent standard car over the course of its lifespan.
i don't give a fuck how many miles per gallon you get. i wouldn't drive an unattractive lima bean shaped car just for the sake of saying "im helping save the planet". if you want to save the planet go ride a bicycle everywhere. no emissions and you don't look like a jackass like the one in this video.
It's not all about "saving the planet" (which we should all respect mother nature....but that's a whole different argument) but what about saving money by not having to buy so much gas that is still so expensive. I drive an insight btw.....I love spending 23 bucks to fill up once a week , rather than 70.....
@katapea statistics imply that people with prius's drive 2x as much as people with normal cars. they have the notation that because they use less fuel the can drive much more. in the same span of time both drivers will have consumed the same amount of gas.
@99gsx4g63t explain? you didn't get it? letsss see. i drive a car that gets 25mpg; meanwhile a prius has an average of 50 mpg. if the prius drives twice as much as i do he would consume the same amount of fuel; given that same time period.
And when you cycle, you actually burn calories! If everyone rode bicycles and public transportation, obesity would be a thing of the past, but that's for another time.

I see that he gut shot him first. If so, why finish the douche off so quickly. Pump a few more in the stomach, then maybe one or two in the hips/inner thighs and just walk away.
People like that need to suffer as long as possible, yet still die before the police arrive in 20 minutes to take notes and write a report.
Hmmm... Toyota is better than Hyundai or Nissan. However, I drive a $500 VW Rabbit Diesel and get 50mpg. I dont see the sense in paying 25k for a vehicle other than for "status" or "green" cool points.
I have nothing against the Prius other than they suck to drive and those who buy them are typically holy-than-thou people who think that they are smarter than everyone else. I personally think that left wing wackos have taken the subject of greenhouse effect to try to wrestle power and pass more crap laws to suppress the individual's rights. Also most of the people who are driving Prius cars can't drive for shit. People need to relearn to think for themselves and not take the spoon fed crap.
Thank God. The further we are removed from what our society has now become, the better. Self sufficiency rules! But, maybe you and your city folk enjoy letting the government take care of you... good luck :)
those of us who grew up in the city, and know and love people who can hunt and dress venison, do not have to kill over two ideas that can be reconciled. When the grid goes down, these oppositions Will be reconciled. Not between those with and without guns, but between those who use their guns for good, and those who use their guns to intimidate, rob and kill.
......(real and political, and counting Binghamton and other massacres/family squabbles, murder/suicides, & the financial fearfulness, layoffs at car plants and everyother business, the rise in anguish "resolved" by gunshot) you might could see where this humorless gal is coming from.
Uh, oh yeah, its 'over' lol. Take 2 days and get out of your ozone killing city and come to the country. Every other vehicle is a truck, and that animal in the back is dinner.
naw. Kucinich fan here. and it's not a generation gap, it's a generation fissure. if you've heard of "bringing coals to Newcastle", or are a hard-core THE WIRE fan, like me - if you've been listening to the fruitless divide-and-conquer pro- & con- gun battles .....
