This treat for the eye and ear, with Vic in a tux and Judy in a sparkling gown, before a plain black backdrop... against the predictable, cornball Bonanza at 9PM on Sunday... the choice was easy in 1964 and Judy was doomed. Judy was crazy about Vic and also wanted to show her new boyfriend Bobby Cole that she still was damn good, and could learn new things. By show 24, the critics had come around and ratings were up, but the CBS execs couldn't wait for her to pack up and go.
One of the more exciting medleys Judy did with a guest star on her variety series. The DVD collection of the series also shows two aborted attempts of this medley, with Judy messing up right near the end one time, and she laughs so much as she gets on the floor, LAYS ON HER SIDE, seemingly frustrated. Very funny to see.
