    My vz r8 get to 100 in about 4 sec dead thanks to the eaton tru-trac differential.

    wait till i do the l92 head conversion and bigger cam, and 3000rpm high stall, will see me about 350rwkw cause im installing a custom 3 inch exhaust system and they make more power than any other brand bolt on system. i got 3:46 diff gears stock

  • @bortous fk off mate, my xr6t makes 850nm torque at 2600rpm to 5700rpm pushed hard my arse you havent even driven one let alone a proprely tuned one by the sound of it so stop gobbing off. I'll put it in simple terms you'll end up spending alot more to make the same power as a modded xr6t.

  • @Lynchy237 That's some good power. Mine will have about 340-350rwkw with the l92 heads and big cam and over 700nm at rear wheels too. Plus a 3000rpm high stall too. Reason why I prefer the 8,s is because power is instant with zero lag plus the sound.

    yeah sounds good, lag isnt all that bad if it is driven properly. Right gear selection for corners and for standing start stall it up off the line, then boost is already on boil for launch. Its awesome when you anticipate for when it hits boost and just kicks you back in the seat. But yeah I'd love to own a blown XR8 as a weekend car haha the sound of a blown 8..Incredible.

  • @bortous Yeah. In case you didn't know, the vz r8 was quicker off the line than the ve. The auto version of mine pulled 13.2 sec stock down the 1/4 but the best time ever recorded was 12.9. Don't forget mine weighs less than a stock bf falcon.... By 5kg! The ve has a great driveline and balance but the car itself is shit and has an ugly cheap looking interior.

  • Maybe back when I was running this 315rwkw setup. But I doubt it. The torque I'd be making would be amble to put you in the rear vision mirror rather swiftly :)

    These days, I run an aftermarket exhaust and small converter. Making 370rwkw on only 2psi more boost than when this vid was shot. So no hop these days :(

    Not knocking the HSV, they are a great car, but it's an Imported USA Chev V8 Engine against a locally built Turbo 6.

    Holden did have a 270Kw concpet Torana Turbo 6 but never made production.

    Shame that would have been a good response to the Typhoon.

  • Yes i did but the HSV is definately a lot better than even a VZSS. biggest difference is handling and suspension not to mention one of the most comfiest interiors in the world. did you know the falcon is officially being axed in 4 years time? No more!!

    Also my suspension is fully modified too. sway bars, all bushings, springs and shocks.

    the mods were expensive because I got the best quality parts.

  • Hi mate. My power output is 305rwkw. My heads are stock though so the cam is very restricted as the stock ls2 heads flow up to .550inch valve lift before they cut off.

    My cam flows at .633intake and .644 at the exhaust. My car is auto too. Im doing an l98 head conversion and porting them, porting a wilson fast intake manifold, and porting my stock throttle body. My car will make about 340rwkw and will pull 11 sec 1/4 miles.

  • to make good times you have to be a good driver, and porting a stock throttle body wtf do you like bad idling just get under run pulleys same power gain and no issues

  • I already have the underdrive balancer and pulleys. With my throttle body its going to be port matched to the inlet manifold, and heads. Everything will be getting port matched. And im changing my cam to a 229/242 .631 .631 and 114 CL. I will have between 340-350rwkw along with a 3000rpm high stall converter.

    4.8 sec is not bad for a 0-100 time.

    I can get just under 4 sec now with a good take off thanks to the great eaton tru-track lsd and sticky yokohama advan tyres.

  • @shitonhsv Ur mate in the ve must not know how to drive as the hsv is actually quicker off the line but down the drag it's neck to neck. As for my vz, they are quicker than than the ve off the line due to weight. I ran a 12.5 sec with a mild cam. Heads stock and no stall converter and im not the best driver. The f6 are pretty quick for stock but I don't like the actual car.

  • @bortous doubt it, and with the amount of money youve wasted, instead of applying any type of boost, is stupid for a road car. consider the fuel economy and power acheived from the same amount of money being spent on a blower kit or turbo kit. and i know what im talking about, with 3 years at ford,8 years at holden, and 6 years tuning. ffs put a blower kit on instead of wasting money on heads. you could even install it yourself before tuning.

  • I prefer the rumble of an 8 too. Nothing comes close. But to get an aspirated 8 to make 600HP, you're going to need a fairly big cam and converter. It wouldn't compare as a daily driver. And 2 snails on an 8 means a lot more money. Having said that, I'm building a 1000+hp motor for this car as we speak. It's been 6 months in the build and there's a few more to go. A GM trans (4l65e) is going behind it. Lot's of custom stuff and good gear. We're getting closer to the engine dyno :)

  • to make 600hp in an 8 you don't need a big cam 8psi charged LS1 and a small cam , exhaust, headers, tune and you'll make 600hp at the fly no problemo

    but then again thats a holden, probably would need a big cam in a Fuord :)

  • I'm a holden man, And if i wasn't going for power I'd get the Holden SS, But XR6 Turbo's are around 250kw out the box, But for around 1.2 grand you can kick it up to around the 350kw, So if it's power you're going for then grab the XR6T but if your a holden man and want a holden but don't care much for power then go with the SS

  • I've spent plenty in a few areas. But as for pure HP making equipment, about $6k including I/C, zorst, 3inch CAI, turbo porting and 12psi actuator, injectors, fuel pump, tuning. I'm now running 369.3rwkw @ 17psi.

    Add 3k for suspension, 1.5k for brakes, 2.5k on wheels and tyres, 2.5k on trans and it adds up.

  • Why do you upgrade anything? Usually, what you upgrade to is better than the original. The Tein coilovers and Whiteline sway bars leave the stock suspension far behind. Something ride height alone will not do.

    F6 bottom end, Nizpro valve springs, turbo ported, 12psi actuator, XForce S/S turbo back 3.5inch system with split dump, Siemens 60lb injectors, Walbro GSS340 fuel pump, Nizpro I/C, Rapid Systems 3inch under batter CAI, PBR C6 front callipers, DBA 4000 slotted rotors, Tein Supersport coilovers, Whiteline swaybars, Speedy Envy MKIII 19x8.5. Currently tuned to 369 rwkw @ 17psi. Killed the trans so got a built one from RVO in Dandenong. And I'm still using the stock crossover :)

  • On a 55k old motor, it threw a leg out of bed. When the motor was pulled down, every crank bearing was chronically worn on one side with some down to the copper. A bad build from Ford. Probably the line bore was not in the right line! So the cheapest option at the time was an F6 bottom end. $2250 delivered.

  • It a built factory BTR 4 speed auto from RVO Automatics in Dandenong, Victoria. They can handle up to about 400rwkw. The planetaries are the weak link.

  • @scotchfillet The tein s are shit. They ride bumpy as he'll and throw you out of your seat over the bumps. Sway bars are essential when changing springs too. A spring change only doesn't do shit.

  • @bortous - your measurement of suspension quality is how hard they ride? If you got in a touring car or V8 supercar would you call them shit?

    The high spring rates on the performance versions of the Teins are aimed at those wanting to do track work. So on the street they will ride bumpy, especially if you set the dampening to hard and lower them too much. That doesn't make them crap. It just makes the person who picked them stupid for not knowing what they were buying ;)

  • Yep same as the F6. The car is an October 2003 built BA. I bought an F6 short motor from ford delivered for $2250. The general consensus is the F6 bottom end will handle around 380rwkw fairly safely. Of course it depends on your tune, how you drive and how well you look after it, IE change that oil regularly.

  • While most of these comments are about holden not having a car that can beat a ford XR6 Turbo lets not miss the point. This is not a standard XR6 Turbo. And more then likely this video has been posted because the owner is proud of what they have a archived and so they should be. It is a quick car. Congratulations to the owner for not only archiving but proving that they have a car that can go from 0 - 100 in under 5 seconds.

The way I see it, if I was gonna pay 150k for a car i'd expect it to run better than a 4.7 especially since I could spend 1/3 that money buy an FG XR6T mod it and have a quicker car.

(load of wank really but hey holden boys love it, i think is halerious because they still think v8's are the be all end all)takes on some merc. the figures are 0-400m in 13 flat which is .2 of a second faster then an R8 and only .1 of a second faster then the f6 (reference to f6 vs r86.2 video).

  • 4.9 secs with just 217 rwkw and 1700 odd kg's? I am sceptical because for a car to run that time with that power it would have to weight a lot less. Just because it has a Holden badge, doesn't mean it can change the laws of physics!

    With 315rwkw it has a potential low 4 sec building more boost off the line but wheel spin on street tyres is the issue with the torque these things make. The car now has 350rwkw and is capable of sub 4 secs but again, massive torque mean massive wheel spin.

  • Hi. I agree with you in some respects. For some reason I have never liked the ve. I have a fully modified vz r8 clubsport with suspension, sway bars allbiptated using the best gear. I don't like the way the ve drives and the only thing I like about it is it's bump absorption and it's rear end balance. I find my vz steers better especially in the corners and turns in with more ease. The fg ford is definately a better car. It steers and handles better than the ve but the new e2 is unreal.

  • Holden realized their front end was shit and did some work on it. They stiffened the lower control arms and revamped the steering along with a complete suspension overhaul to accomodate the larger wheels and tyres. The whole car is 25% stiffer thanks to stiffer and lower springs. The fg typhoon is a great car but let down by it's rear tyres which are not wide enough. The e2 though would maul any ford on the track as now its more responsive than the ford and grips so much better.

  • Yeah thanks mate. Thanks to some good gear and a great tune from my tuner, it goes fairly hard. Just need to get a few things sorted including an exhaust and should be good for mid 11's on street slicks.

  • It's a BA but has an F6 short motor, valve springs, 12psi actuator, ported turbo exhaust housing/larger flapper, BIG IC, under battery CAI and tune for 315rwkw.
