  • coming out did suck. a lot. how do you become comfortable/confident with your sexuality.

  • "Don't ever think that your stuck in any certain situation for any reason. You have the ability to make any change in your life that you want."

that was really nice. its gives me hope and inspiration to make those changes that I want to make and not to be afraid. thanks for reminding me that I can do it.

    great peptalk .

I really needed that im sort of in a situation that i need 2 make a choice and his was good advice .

  • In the Deep South at least it's more for everyone. Sometimes we say guys and gals but usually just guys.

  • hahaha ur so funny lol i do that too

  • i agree the term "guys" is for everyone regardless of gender!

  • totally normal.. i do it at work even when people can see me lol

  • I was spinning in my very own chair prior to your watching your video ... awesomeness!

  • i use "guys" all the time, no matter who it is....lol, just like the guy from goonies "hey you guys!!"

and no matter what you say, mondays are always better cuz of you...........so im going out side to play now!!! and im gonna have fun, hope you do too.

  • Every time I watch Jess I forget she is 27? I think. I only realise when I listen to what she is actually saying she looks younger.

  • Friends: The Family We Choose. You are totally rad. Thanks for being so candid and personal. This is a great video and filled with awesome advice! :D

  • I respect you so much!

  • i'm in the process of coming out right now and my story is still going... im not having much of a tough time but i chose to tell the ones i knew would accept it first. the tough part i think is going to be my parents and siblings but hopefully it turns out like my others have so far. excitement.

  • i truly admired/enjoyed your input on previous relationships (because I totally agree)/and on life, too bad its not sunny on LI becauseee your video made me want to go catch some rays

  • ya, I use "guys" around everyone.

  • Haha that spinning in your chair looked like fun!

And i love your Bright Eyes t-shirt, thats a great band.

  • I just want to hug you now.. I am so happy my friend wanted me to watch you guys... *hugs*

Thanks I actually feel better now..

  • Jess my dear, i wanna go have coffee with you.

my out story is boring too, no screaming, crying or yelling. just a few I KNEW IT!'s

  • Spinning in a chair never gets old.

    Thanks for the pep talk.

  • Sounds like there's a business opportunity for a mail order bride service for your small community who all know each other!

  • I don't really have any interesting coming out story. Everything just always works out for me. My parents didn't really react at all. They don't mind it, and I think they already knew. I'm always so lucky. I've never really even experienced any discrimination. Nothing bad at least, which is awesome, but I live in sort of an "isolated bubble" which makes me unable to relate to other queers in terms of coming out, discromination etc.

  • one star! kidding kidding...

come to long beach friday, me and you and a lady friend of yours and one of mine, club ripples...free for us...call me!

  • My Grade 6 teacher loved the term "guys." She even named her female cat Guy.

  • hey jess,

i love what you said about ending a relationship if the situation is not good. i've learned that if you are ever compromising your happiness and especially your health, to just get out of it.

you live, you learn, you watch out for the red flags next time..

thanks for the great video :)

  • all i want to do is sit and spin? THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID..... i could've used this advise when my girlfriend tore my heart out of my chest stomped on it and i had to glue that shit back together upside down..... but thanks anway...

  • The best time to break up with someone is the moment you think it might not be working out. Because that is the moment that its over.

  • Always easier said than done.

  • bright eyes...amazing music.

  • You Guys are doing a great job. :)

  • great vid, i still will watch even if it's late.

having a great hair day jess!!

those were some really wise chosen words.

  • I use the word guys as an umbrella term as well.

  • loving your hair!

  • your so handsome. I love your new hair.

  • I like your tattoo

    Is it finished?

  • new hair jess? it looks cute

  • runs up.. "hey you guys" ... "I smell ice cream" .. love your vids jess!

  • I wish you would have said "if you're in a not so great relationship, end it. the longer you prolong something, the harder it gets to get out of it. trust me. my first girlfriend was crazy, to say the least.", a year ago. we just finally ended the bullshit once and for all, and i feel it was a waste of my time. il never regret actually caring about her and loving her, but i do regret trying so hard and waiting so long. but jess, you're amazing. never change darling, we look up to you. <3

  • You are probably one of the most down to earth and wisest people around. I love your videos. Thanks for encouraging me. =]

  • niceeee shirt;]

  • Well, spinning in chairs is totally normal around here...heheh But...we're weirdos here.

  • i really needed that.. thanks for the pep talk.. btw.. who called? lol you should have answered and said DUDE IM MAKING A VIDEO!..

  • youre absolutly right. im 19 and had to come home from school because of money and as depressed as i am (i feel bad for my gf she has to deal with my bitching) i am doing something about it. I now work 3 jobs to get money to go back to school.

so make things work for you. it might be hard but you have power to help yourself

  • i used to get yelled at for saying guys... by teachers.. it was weird.

i still use it though, it's great

and i like your pep talk!!

    Yay guys!

  • I really like this video.

    I needed it today. :)

    Peace!

  • Sweet Bright Eyes shirt!! From one Jess to another.

  • Wow. That was really well said. I love the pep talk. It really helped me a lot, being in the closet from my family and some of my friends.

I was inspired to spin in my chair thanks to you. :)

  • My coming out story is sooo amusing, I think it might be the only one like it!!

& I spin around on my chair randomly and constantly!

  • new hair?

    i like it.

    :)

  • Of course it's normal to spin on a chair! That's why they spin. =]

    Great video.

  • Amazing... :)

  • your hair looks great! :D

  • I love you :)

If I was a girl, and not into guys, I would marry you.

Except I'm a boy. And into guys. So I'll love you from afar :)

    LOL

  • my coming out story includes a high speed chase, no joke.

great pep talk and love your videos XD

  • always awesome

  • bright eyes!

love the shirt, love the hair.

    love the video :]

  • i love your out look on life.

  • U promise?

  • i promise.

  • wow! i love your hair...it looks very good =]

    great pep talk

  • I really needed this pep talk, more than you could know.

And you've worded it so well. I teared up!

    Thank you. :]

  • Oh an I thought you looked hella skinny in this picture but I think it's just the new hair which looks so damn good on you, handsome.

  • "and there's kids playing guns in the street and ones pointing his tree branch at me. So I put my hands up an I say "Enough is enough if you walk away i'll walk away" and he shot me dead."

For advertising such amazing music through your outfit I have to say you're phenomenol, not many people around here know of them.

"Mom i've got something I need to tell you"

"Are you having sex with a boy?!?!"

    "A boy? No. A girl"

    "Oh really? Well that's nice"

    etc.

A lot easier than expected. :)

  • You have a great Monday, too, Jess.

  • im loving the hair:P

and i so do spin too when im alone hehe

  • awesome pep-talk :)

    love the hair too!!

  • I needed that pep talk. Thank you, Jess.

  • Thought I was the second but 7 people commented while I was typing.

  • I am in complete agreement. It's hard to date bc everyone has dated someone who they know, knew or once dated. Ugh, sad.

For the most part if I meet someone these days I wouldn't want to know who their ex's are. I'm like don't tell me. I don't want to know. It just complicates everything and I think it's better not knowing.

I believe the rare ones who are 'out of the circle' are hibernating and the only way to find them would be out of the blue when you least expected to meet someone.

  • true. i constantly run into the same people when i go out to lesbian spots. it gets annoying and presents limited dating opportunities because there is usually at least one person who has told a potential love interest "all about you" before you've had a chance to open your mouth.

  • I know exactly what you mean. Don't you hate it though when they act like they don't know when really, you know that they know more than what they think you know? I'd say if anyone is looking to date, date outside your area. Girls, they don't like to drive. They like to stay within their city and ride their bikes. So if you're one of those who find it hard to find someone to date who doesn't either know of you already or dated/know someone you've dated, try dating someone from a different city?

  • Love your shirt. Great pep-talk Jess :)

  • Great video Jess!! and guys is def. a generic term... no worries!

  • i don't mind being called "guy", goes the same for "dude" and "man"

it kind of feels good to be honest

  • at work we all call the kids guys, but its dont gender specific. old school, i call boys dudes.

    nice vid :)

  • I don't mind "guy" but don't get me started on addressing a woman as "dude."

  • i call girls dudes all the time. i'll be like "hey dude, stop being an idiot!"

  • So do I. I don't call anyone an idiot per say but I'll say to someone during a conversation...'dude, like ___"

  • i think you do an amazing job, even with the short amount of time to 'brain storm'.
