  • Keith Emerson might not be Glenn Gould,but......WOWWWW!!!

  • Whoever said that Keith played with no understanding of the tune is an ignoramus.Sorry.

  • Please see on youtube " George Malcolm Bach Before the Mast" What Emerson is missing is precision, proper dynamics, proper tempo changes. He plays it as someone who is trying to blow through a very difficult piece, and not as someone who has a deep understanding of the fundamentals of the time period. I know the harpsichord probably won't wow you! But you should be able to understand what I am referring to. This Malcolm version is considered what is "proper" for this song.

  • @camispianostudio

What Keither Emerson plays is rock and roll. Also, according to music historians, the original style of most classical music was much slower and less intense than Gould or Gulda, and by our standards, frightfully dull; given that your preferences are just as inauthentic as mine, what right have you to describe them as "correct?"

  • Amazing player and composer !!! I follow keith and his records since i was 12 years old.

  • とってもいい!

  • Really.... because this is a complete disaster from start to finish

  • @camispianostudio - please explain why you say that? Tell us what we're missing. I've been playing the keys for 45 or so yrs... and this doesn't sound bad to me at all. Please enlighten me.

  • @camispianostudio: Ok, Mr. Emerson is not Glenn Gould but still he's a good pianist AND composer! :-)

  • Bieber, cries. Poor lost generation!

  • I would say probably THE best keyboard player that has ever been in rock. Keith plays it all and no one can ever seem to match the skill of his left hand playing. Patrick Moraz comes a close 2nd!!!!!

  • ma che 2 mani!!! Poverino adesso...

  • Wow.

  • unequal notes, no dynamics, no interpretation. midi playback would at least be better sounding.

  • I find his playing very inconsistent here.

  • @MrCrgl At the time his gig was rock. I'm sure that if his only endeavor was playing classical piano he'd probably play the socks off of it...are you mistaking mood for inconsistencies?

  • @paulj0557 actually, I like what he is trying to do with the piece, but the inconsistencies in his playing technique are too distracting.

  • @paulj0557 lol, i think you will find that he is classically trained. as are 99% of your working class heros in the rock music industry.

it is a great and accurate interpretation of bachs flowery style

  • Legend.

  • Genius and hero of Jordan Rudess.

  • This is on the "Honky" album, which is a solo Keith album worth buying.

  • Wit, skill and imagination...with a huge side order of technical mastery. Not yer ordinary rock muso!

  • @SkewerLad imagination ? this wasnt composed by him.

  • @MrCrgl what SkewerLad was saying was not about this song, it's about who Emerson actually is :)

  • @MrCrgl - but other things were!

  • number 1

  • Love this both as a piece and performance !

  • sounds like 2 players -

    none better than Keith

  • I am sure that you are great.

please show us your plaing from japan.

    my name is SUZUKI.
