This is an alternate take of the original release. Jerry Lee didn't do the piano fill at 0:45 on the original. Also, Carl's vocal was different. Great to hear another take.
@TubeGunner Ok, I may have gone a bit too far with that statement, but Elvis had a huge hit with Blue Suade Shoes and remember all those radio shoes The Beatles used to do where they would cover Perkins' songs all the time?
@Raikaage Saying that Elvis/The Beatles don't make it without Perkins, doesn't "go too far", it's Twilight Zone. Elvis cut "Blue Suede Shoes" (the only Perkins song he ever cut) and originally released it as an album track. He never had a "huge hit" with it. It was only released on a single at all well after Perkins had released his. It became associated with Elvis because people liked his version and his wild performances of it. The Beatles' Perkins covers were also just album tracks, not hits.
Harrison's early guitar work was so massively influenced by Perkins, you could make the argument. Certainly the Beatles wouldn't have been the same without Perkins' influence.
Elvis refused to release his version of Blue Suede Shoes as a single. RCA was demanding. When Elvis did the song on the Ed Sullivan show he sent a telegram to Carl stating he knew if it were not for Carl's car wreck he would have been there instead of him. Besides, Carl was the writer, he got royalties from the Elvis recording. They were friends. People should know a little history before they make statements.
@Enterthedeath obviously it would be the other way round. elvis just covered alot of great songs, in return he brought a lot of money and fame to the people who wrote the songs. if you watch an interview where perkins talks about elvis you will see that they were great friends and that carl was all for elvis remaking his songs. its the same with jj cale and eric clapton, everyone gives credit to clapton for songs cale wrote. but cale dont care when he's at the bank!
Where can you get this version?

Carl was a major influence on the BEATLES as well. So I guess it's safe to say that he was a major influence in music in general.

@subg88 Perhaps, but since Lennon/McCartney were the Beatles' main creative force, I don't know how much different.

@artdrectr well since the only thing the songs have in common is the first verse, and are otherwise completely different i wouldn't exactly say that.
