  • They're so cheap nowadays. Look on ebay: $200!

  • sorry i didn't find any review for a380.I want to now is the 380 same as 390?please reply.

  • i have this camera does anyone know if it comes with video?

  • bought one of these was very good for a few months but the anti dust system is rubbish i put compressed gas in it, cleaned the mirror, cleaned the lenses and still have vast amounts of dust when i do a HDR

  • which one better a330 or a290??

  • Hey Can you recommend a good Zoom lens for the A230 camera? Anything 5X or higher

  • which Brand takes a better qaulity picture...sony, nikon or canon? I cannot decide.

  • I like the new design, it looks sexy. Although it's not really a pro design.

  • it looks very plasticky too.

  • the only review i have seen which gives any negatives

  • Its a solid camera, the quality is far supirior to the newer Sony Nex 3 and 5, the live view is great, the screen is nice a solid, no video, you buy a slr for photos not videos, all in all great camera and lens

  • I got my hands on one today and I have to agree with a lot of people who said it does not feel plastic.I think the new design is refreshing as it has a bit more curves and feels less bulky. you did not really talk about live view performance or the cost and that its user interface is more friendly than other cameras.(something to include in the future)

I did like that you showed what came in the box.

  • is this better than the d3000?

  • @AesirSovann Yes

  • what is the background music?

  • can you say "hater"?

  • This camera is well built, feels great, works flawlessly once u get to know it's perks amazing pics quality can be obtained. The left slide port access slot is pure genius. My only complain is the right lobe/grip doesn't fit in big hands . But that can easily be fixed by buying the 40$ STPHS1AMW Hand Strap for a™ (alpha) Digital SLR Cameras the hand strap is the most comfortable accessory a MUST buy make a huge difference.

  • sony is the best....i Own this camera and I love it.

  • I don't know whether to get this camera or the Nikon D3000

  • I don't know whether to get this camera or the Nikon D3000

  • I just have to say, I've used this camera on a travel, and the design & grip is awesome, it took me by surprise, very sporty.

For the price its a good buy, the only drawback i have is that the noise capabilities is not as good, (as, a5XX)

  • nom

  • @whitecottonglove,

Travel? Is it worth carrying around? The bulkiness i mean? I was considering buying this type of SLR with an extra zoom lens.

  • If we talk DSLR's it's worth it because it's not very bulky, at least not the body, but with lens changing it was at times bothering... but my second DSLR was broken and at home. So if you are interested in photography it's worth it. Otherwise there is some good compacts too, but ISO noise is their biggest problem.

  • Does this dslr take videos? and if so is it good quality?

  • No, it doesn`t.

  • @bmlvr786 It depends, canon has 2 new models which records HD videos

  • i own this. i got it as a present [=

  • I'm trying to choose between the Nikon d3000 and this Sony A330. The sony one looks nicer.

  • I was choosing between the same cameras the Sony is better

  • Choose which feels better in your hands. But in my opinion Nikon is better because you have a wider selection of lenses and 3rd party accessories. Also d3000 has faster continuous shooting and better for a beginner.

  • Plasticky?? I just tested out this camera and it has a rubberized texture feel to it and its definitely sturdy

  • I think Nikon is just a tad better than Sony when it comes to making cameras...

  • a tad? no..MUCH better.

  • nah not when they remove the autofocus motor from their entry level dslrs.

  • true dat on the auto focus motor!

sony and nikon use the same sensors, however the firmware is very much so different. thus, the d3x with good high iso and the same sensor a850/900 with terrible high iso.

  • and nikon has been using sony's sensor, CCD and CMOS. so I don't know why people are so biased.

  • @TheWillOfMetatron Your 100% right but you see that back in the Nikon´s price.

  • Just bought this exact camera. I really like it so far. Also bought a 200x lens to go with it. I love it so far.

  • hows that 200 goin for you? i have this camera and was lookin for a telephoto lens, i wasnt sure to go for the 200 or the 300 any advice since you own the a330?

    cheers

  • 200 is really great. very reliable and the perfect amount of zoom i need. i guess a 300 would be better but i couldn't find a reason why i would need that much.

  • Im very intresteted in photography alwayshave been im looking for a good camrea im not to crazyabout the 1000 $ range Ha! But im in the 100 to maxium 600$ Any tips PLEASE !! i REALLY NEEDhelp Thanks!! Photomad97-

  • I think this guy's a little harsh. It looks like a really nice beginner dslr.

  • the other dslr's with video function are more expensive then this camera.... thats a point that is not mentioned

  • the camera doesn't actually have a video function. The HDMI port is for viewing your photos on an HD tv. I wish it did have video though.

  • i hate the background music

  • Lol, it's iMovie sound effects. I only use them if I want to get a laugh out of people.

  • Which is better Canon 1000D or Sony a330?

  • Its a good camera, the design and small grip is not that big deal when you see it in real life, also makes it very compact and nice when carrying 2 dslr's. IQ is great... it obviously allways depends on the lens, but the new kit-lens is quite good!. ISO 100-1600 is ok. Sony's Live view is as expected the best you'll see around.

  • Out of the 12 reviews I have read for this camera, this is the second least useful. And the ONLY one that doesn't like the new body design. You show the box contents, which is unique, but the picture quality isn't talked about at all.

And you discount it because it doesn't have video mode? If I wanted a video camera, I wouldn't get a DSLR. Instead I'd keep my DSC point and shoot or, *gasp*, a video camera. I don't usually leave comments like this, but this review is too biased to be credible.

  • I agree with LubbockTweetup wholeheartedly.

I am baffled by omission of the A330's positive attributes.

And yes, DSLR's are for taking photos; I wouldn't get one if I wanted to shoot videos!

  • The copper colored version of the A330 looks intriguing, no?

  • If you want to see images taken with this exact camera go to my picasa page. Sorry but Youtube does not allow any comments resembling a link so I will just say go to Picasa dot-com and search for images tagged nosajck. If they are listed as taken by Blackriver 69 those are my images and all taken with the Sony a330.

The lens used were the 18-55 that came with the body as well as the Minolta AF 75-300 F4.5-5.6 2561-100 (1986 version). The images were taken in fine quality jpeg mode.

  • good thing he doesn't discuss image quality WHATSOEVER in this review. but then again, IQ is certainly the least important factor when comparing cameras, amirite?

  • how would this compare to the canon rebel xs?

  • rebel - 2.5 lcd,3 fps more third party lens option, sony -2.7 lcd, 2.5 fps

Thats all i can think off lulz

  • am just starting to explore its many functions and other feature....... could this be gud for extra ordinary picture taking....without editng in photoshop programs?

  • Rumor has it Canon has been in the camera business far longer than Sony.

  • yep, and ford has been in the car business for a lot longer than toyota.

    means nothing, really.

  • Plastic toy camera. :( The first DSLR I ever handled was the A100. I loved that thing.

  • i held one of these things a couple days ago, and i really didn't like the feel and grip of the camera.

  • I don't like new design .. :(

  • I just bought this camera about a week back and so far it takes fantastic pictures...the image quality is superb and it's easier to carry and hold...so far i didnt see any problem with this camera...it's definitely a value for money buy!

  • do you think its worth buying?

  • I am really dissapointed with sony's new dslrs, they have deviated from the things that are important for an slr. I know they are trying to make slrs more apealing to beginners but that is not who an slr is for. live view is pointless, the hand grip is too small and the buttons and dials have been compromised, the thumb rest on the back is to close to the buttons. I want simpler cameras without all the auto settings, affordable full size sensors and it shuld be sized for human hands.

  • I was playing with this camera today, and it didnt feel plasticy at all, you want it to weigh 50 lbs made in metal?

  • The comment was made in comparison with the Sony A300/A350 which is much more robust. The A330 and the A380 are definitely more plastic then previous models which we believe is a great shame. The sliding door will trap dirt and make cleaning a nightmare - this makes it almost as bad as no protection.

  • I still have to disagree with you, I think it feels solid, it has a great feel to it

  • on top of that, most of the DSLR's with video modes dont have autofocus in video, so that has no reason why sony didn't decide to put video mode into it, I wish they had, but that is no excuse for that

  • You are right that it has nothing to do with autofocus... our point was related to the method which Sony delivers Live View which would cause a problem as the Live View sensor is different from the image sensor. No other DSLRs in the market will have that problem. The difference exist because of different ways of focusing in Live View which Sony is in fact better.

  • @dereileak you cant shoot a video with this camera???

  • @dereileak being the cheapest dslr out there,, it won't have everything...but it really is a great camera for those starting up,,,alot of people are holding back on dslr because of its high price and confusing menu... i just bought one off craiglist for 200 and it feels great and im enjoying it so far....

  • I dont see how you will get more dirt in the door, unless you roll your camera in dirt and spit on it, it wont be a nightmare, your simply overreacting

  • I'm buying a Nikon, whos with me ?

  • This camera is ugly.

  • I want one!!!

  • whats the resolution of the lcd? is is the same as the a350?

  • Hi

It is good the the new Sony A330 camera came out. Having new features and look. But It does look like the old Minolta Dynax 5 but as a digital camera. I wonder if they took some of the ideas from it.

Good review on the A330 camera.

    mike

  • i thought about buying this... went for a canon.
