  • Ehipassiko "come and see"

    you'll know

    The Teaching of Peace

    The Teaching of Love

    The Teachings of the

    Buddha is for all

    Who want to be free

    forever more

  • I seek refuge in Buddha, Sangha and Dhamma

  • with respect , Ajahn Chah

  • Ajahn Chah did great things.

  • Hahaha he looks incredibly happy.

  • a true seeker of truth will look everywhere only to end up at himself. Also don't just listen to the teachings but try to internilize them, sometimes you may have a feeling of how to meditate but it goes against what some guru says, always follow your feeling. My meditation became most powerfull when I individualized the method to suit myself. I listened carefully to all teachings but used what worked for me.

One thing is universal for all meditators, "simply be as you are".

  • his facial expressions remind me of adyashanti, so beautiful

  • "Don't believe what you hear don't believe what I tell you, until you have analyzed it and have concluded that what you heard is correct." - Buddha Buddha even said that what Buddha did not know he would not lie to us just to shut us up (well he didn't say 'shut us up' thats just how I understand this) And if he did lie then something bad would happen to him which it didn't so it meant that he never lied.

  • This is the best old dude ever. To bad I never got a chance to meet him.

  • @Shangalization met him in 1969, had no idea who he was or what he was about, all i remember is the monkeys in the trees picking up the cats and pulling off their fleas. that's what he showed me. that was more important than the phii mai ruins (long before the "historical park" that's now there. and, i should mention, jack kornfield arranged this, he continues the spirit of the forest monks. walking (and/or) working meditation is the best way to center yourself and clear.

  • If his words agree with you, then by all means embrace them. But first it is important to forget they are being spoken by an 'authority', and subject them to a rigorous critical assessment. Think about them objectively, and very deeply not fearing to find fault. Only when they pass this test can they truly be yours.

  • I am so thankful to YouTube and Achan and all the people who posted this video. Though He is no longer with us, the profound teaching passed down to us is till very applicable to deal with our daily live today no matter where we are. Come, investigate, question, challange and you shall find the ultimate truth. Peace to yoou and peace to the world.

  • Thanks for sharing this video. Love watching his smile.

  • I love Buddhism.

  • @pongpon98988 why are you an athiest?

  • You let them prove themselves to Allah. We do not believe because you hope they listen to us a Buddhist. But try them, you try to prove themselves. For clarity. As their ordination in Buddhism.

  • ขออนุโมทนาค่ะ

    ขอบคุณมากๆ

  • thankyou verry much my friends for the good information :)

  • One of the vows(>200) of a theravada monk is not to handle or own money. The monk will be taken care of my the monastery. In Thailand, the monk can disrobe if he needs to break any of the rules to take care of humanly issues. When the task is completed, then he can be ordained again. There is no stigma attached to disrobing unlike other 'orders'.

  • Hello my friends, i have an importent question. i am a belgium and in the future i want to be a therevada monk in thailand, and it will be for a very longtime ore maybe forever.

But as a monk you dont have any money ore insurence. What happend if you get sick or who's gone help me there ? please tell me?

  • Hello...I asked my mom and she said the monks have to pay for the hospitalization fee. I think you should spare some money for this. The fee in Thailand is not as crazy as in Europe or America. If you are allowed to be ordained, the temple will help you find your sponsors (lay person) who promise to help you when you are sick.

  • thankyou very much for the information my friend. i ges i have to save some money for that ;) good day

  • As any aware monk will explain to you - suffering is inevitable, so rather than attaching to it, or to imagination of it happening some time in future, practice experiencing the present moment. If you get sick, it is a teaching and something to practice with. Or you can simply go to a hospital and get treatment.

Ajahn Chah says the goal is to LET GO. Notice how your mind is HOLDING ON to the fear of getting sick, you can start practising letting go now, before you even arrive in Thailand.

  • Yes its true, i still live in fear i gues.

but one thing is shore, i have become a totaly diferent person sinds i have started learning about buddhism. It helped me alot in daily live. i even sold my big motorbike and buyed an old india rusty bicycle. it have to start somwhere you see ;) thanks for you very friendly words

    see you

  • i really agree with u.seems like u've got the main point of buddhism, letting go

  • Who's gone help you?

1.Monk Hospital in Bangkok so when you are monk you don't have to pay.

    2. Yourself, As I have heard The monk who make maditation until he got Apinya he can cure himself.

3.Thai people, buddhist will take care of you as well if you be a good monk they will respect and take care.

    4. Sickness is one of many suffering. That come with you sine the day that you born. This is the main way to learn and get to know how to do with suffering.

I'm glad to know you coming to way :)

  • hey u know there are many sort in Buddhism too. like sri lanka there are monks who do meditate and etc in forest do not use money, but in sri lanka there many facilities i hope in thai too, cos if a monk go to a government hospital there are favors and etc and for traveling there is a special method for them so its not dear but other type monks they use money.

  • I thougt I knew,,Till I treally saw how little I really knew,,so now I"m watching closely.

  • I have read many discourses by Ajahn Chah but I did not know that I could actually hear his voice on youtube until today. I have known of Buddhism for 20 years, and have meditated from time to time, but only recently have I actually tasted the Dhamma, just one brief sweet taste in a meditation has changed things for me. And now seeing Ajahn Chah at last I can feel his happiness from here, though he has passed away. The sound of Dhamma calling us to peace.

  • Very informative video. I think Buddhism is the path for though I am not 100% sure yet. Still researching on Buddhanet =)

  • ~~~one love~~~

  • It is also filmed in England. That house is Chithurst Buddhist monastery.

  • that house behind Ajarn Chah looks very westernize knowing that this is filmed in Thailand. :)

  • สาธุ สาธุ

  • We don't need to keep 10,000 dharma books if we understand the essence of them all. That's the beauty of Buddha-dharma. It changes you from within when it assimilates into your being.

  • He is good teacher. Ajajn Chath teaching is very appealing.

  • Thank you Ajahn chah

  • All religions think that they have right solution and salvation. I think we strive for the same thing but in different costumes.

I follow the buddhist path because it makes the most sense to Me.

  • Direct and engaging. He is right, time to do something.

  • Quite possibly the happiest man who ever lived...

  • @1utarefson7 I think jesus is the happiest man who ever lived

  • @1utarefson7 Very possible.

  • I once had over 250 books on Buddhism, but I gave them to charity once I relinquished my attachment to Buddhist dogma. However I still kept every word written in English by this remarkable man. I own just 13 books now and 6 are by Ajahn Chah. He is in my view the greatest Buddhist teacher of the 20th century.

  • Like that raindrop, falling into the ocean! How terriyfying! Letting go of the "self"! How terrifying! To become the One! A complete loss of self-identity. That's terrifying! But there is so much more than what they see you as! So much more! Hey, I'm terrified too! -Kirk

  • Kirk, you won't feel terrified anymore if you have a chance to practise...believe me.....Dhamma is not just about what you've heard, thought or analyzed, but you would realize it the way of this monk did when you start practising.....I did and never felt terrified...best of luck

  • The Great Ven. Ajahn Chah Thero...!!

  • He's awesome.

  • Thanks for the video.

  • A great man from a great tradition....

  • May all his wishes come true.

  • Luang Por yai... Laung Por Chah.

    Billion bows and million candles.

  • wise man

  • good video, ajahn chah is a good teacher. i'm glad i am apparently the first person to view this video, though that may pride be coming up. whoever should watch this must also watch The Mindful Way - access it by searching for Ajahn Chah in youtube, first video listed. A lot of this video comes from there...I've never seen the whole thing of The Mindful Way myself, I think there is more that is not on youtube.
